2. Determine Your Needs
It is critical that you know what your needs are, or the
equipment that is chosen for you, may not be what
you need……
 How much time will you spend in the chair?
 Do you have sitting pain?
 What are lifestyle things you want to continue?
 What is your environment like?
 Is your posture symmetrical and upright?

3. Manage your Expectations
You need to be prepared when selecting a new custom
wheelchair. There are countless resources online
that can give you suggestions and stimulate
questions and expectations.
 Is the Weight of the Chair important?
 Is the Color Important?
 How will you transport it?
 How Expensive is this type of equipment?

4. Manual or Power
Depending on your physical needs, and abilities, a
manual wheelchair maybe able to be configured to
enable wheel access and self propulsion. When you
cannot self propel, powered mobility maybe the best
option.
 What is my physical abilities or weakness?
 Can I push a wheelchair?

 Are their Service Technicians trained?
 Do they have staff that can assist with your insurance
needs?
 Is there a showroom, or place you can trial equipment?
