How NAVFAC Midlant Supports the Mission
Northern Long-Eared Bat: Provide guidance for timber clearing activities regarding compliance
w/Programmatic BO on Final 4(d) Rule for NLEB and activities exempted from take prohibitions
Atlantic Sturgeon tracking: Provides current survey data to make and defend effects analysis
2.4K acres of Ag Outlease: manage clearzone requirement mission on 2 major runways and ROTHR
atteana array at no cost to mission
Forestry Program (NSACR NWSY NWSE): Manage large tracks of land for timber production,
wildlife/recreation while supporting and enhancing mission activities (buffers, explosive safety arcs)
Sea Turtle Program (Dam Neck/JEB Ft. Story: BO with FWS to relocate active nest to non training
areas of the beaches resulting in no net loss to mission training
Bald Eagle Nest Survey: Document Eagle Nest Location supporting BASH efforts
Lessons Learned/Shared
NEPA Streamline Guidance: Need to ID projects that were historically EAs where permitting and
consultations were contracted services. Moving forward these services will need be competed in-
house or paid for by the project. These cost and time can be significant
Ag Outlease Renewals: The presence of PFAS in soil, surface and ground water and the absence of
DoD/Navy policy regarding PFAS has delayed renewal of all ag leases in the region
