The National Theatre of Catalonia is a public theatre located in Barcelona, created by the Catalan Government's Culture Department. It is composed of two structures located at Plaça de les Arts in Barcelona. The theatre was built from 1991 to 1996 by Catalan architect Ricardo Bofill and opened in 1996 with a production of Angels in America. Ricardo Bofill studied architecture in Geneva and has built many projects around the world that blend local cultures with global influences.
