• Turkey is a very diverse culturally as a nation, blending
ailments of Greco-Roman and Islamic cultures with Western
culture and traditions

• The former Ottoman Empire, uses a strong separation between
religion and state, 98% of the country has Islamic practices. The
separation has developed a free artistic side for the nation, and
has really developed fine arts

Literature
• Fine arts in Turkey have been strongly
influenced by the Arabic and Persian in the
Ottoman Empire Era.
• European literacy became a strong focus
for the nation recently when Orhan Pamuk
won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2006.
Before then 70% of Turks had never read a
book.
4. Architecture
• Turkey is known for its beautiful architectural designs that have carried over
for centuries through Islamic traditions and the Ottoman Empire. The
greatest architect was Mimar Sinan from the Ottoman time in a classical
period.
• Over the years Western architecture has been implemented in designs. Now
with the modern designs you can see westernized skyscrapers right next to
the beautiful palaces.
• Each detail to the designs represent a different tradition that has been
passed through the country
