NASA is the United States government agency responsible for the civilian space program as well as aeronautics and aerospace research. It has conducted many spaceflight programs throughout its history, including launching the first American satellites and unmanned probes to explore planets like Venus and Mars. Recently, NASA discovered Kepler-452b, a planet similar to Earth located 1,400 light years away that is orbiting in the habitable zone of its star, making it a potential candidate for harboring life.
