Three girls go on a road trip that goes wrong when their car breaks down at night near an abandoned castle. They encounter a mysterious stranger who threatens them. The trailer will show the girls packing for their trip and driving at night until they get lost in the countryside. Typical horror elements like the scary location, stranger, and girls in danger will be used to tell a fast-paced story and create mystery and tension around the threatening stranger.

2. • For our narrative we will show three girls going on a road trip, which goes wrong
when the car breaks down in the middle of the night. An anonymous stranger/
mysterious person will be introduced which will threaten the girls and make them
scared for their lives. It will all be set in the dark, and at an abandoned castle or old
building.
• At the beginning of the trailer the three girls will be packing, and loading up the car
for the road trip from one of their houses, where the girls will be shown to be
happy, and excited for the trip.
• We will also show the journey at the beginning of the road tip, driving along and
slowly the day turning to night and there being less people and less shops as the girls
get into the countryside and away from civilization.
• Things that will be included will be:
• The car
• The three girls
• A strange figure
• A dark, scary location,
• preferably an abandoned castle or old building
• Different types of music, happy at the beginning,
• and then as he girls get scared and the night approaches,
• slow, or little music.

3. • Our narrative will meet the genre criteria because a group of girls together is typical of
a horror. They are vulnerable and will tend to scream lot. Also girls can be shown as
weaker, making the anonymous stranger seem even scarier, because they don’t know
what he is capable of.
• A road trip is another point typical of a horror, because in all three trailers that we
chose to look at, all the horror action is always away from civilization and away from
the characters usual places, home, school or work.
• The fact we have chosen an abandoned castle in the woods will meet the genre
criteria because it is a desolate area, and at night very scary. In horror films the
locations they choose are always desolate and away from any people. For example in
our three trailers we looked at, The Wrong Turn is set in the woods, with a group of
deformed creatures, which live away from civilization, and kill humans. The idea of a
stranger, or strange creatures that are not human is very scary because nobody knows
what they are capable of, and do not know if they are in danger.
• The girls leaving from a secure home is key because it shows that they were in a safe
area around ones they love and know. Them then leaving and going somewhere they
have no idea of is also scary and the audience will pick up on that because everybody
is wary of new places.

4. • Our narrative will be a typical horror genre.
• It will meet all the criteria by conforming to stereotypes (in last slide).
• The narrative will be gripping, and fast paced, because we want that to come across
in the trailer. We want the audience to know straight away that it is a horror
trailer, and we will do this by making things jumpy, and dark, both literally, and in the
narrative.
• Another aspect of the narrative will be the mystery of the stranger in the night, and
what the girls will do to escape from it.
