Narendra Modi was born in 1950 in Gujarat, India. He received a post-graduate degree in political science and joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a volunteer during his university years. Modi entered mainstream politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1987 and became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. As CM, Modi oversaw many infrastructure and economic development projects in Gujarat through initiatives like the BIG 2020 plan. He focused on sectors like power, transportation and rural development. Modi received several awards for his governance, including being named the Best Chief Minister of India in 2006.
