Delicious Bookmarking
Delicious is a social bookmarking website. Delicious lets you save a website as a bookmark and tag
the site with a label or reference word. You can access your bookmarks from any computer through a
web browser. Delicious lets users organizer all of their websites and share them with other people. All
the websites I find having to do with SMARTBoards are tagged "SMARTBoard", this enables me to easily
retrieve all of these sites. I can share these bookmarks with other teachers using a link
(http://delicious.com/christopherpolizzi/smartboard). I can get more specific if I add another tag like
"SMARTBoard" and "math" for all of the websites that deal with SMARTBoards and math. Each time you
add a website your list is automatically updated. You bookmarks even create an RSS feed people can
subscribe to.
1) Navigate your browser to http://www.delicious.com.
2) Delicious is a free service which is owned by Yahoo, you can use your Yahoo account to sign into
the service. You can explore Delicious without an account. Try searching Delicious for bookmarks
other people have saved in your content area. Type a Tag in like SMARTBoard to see what sites
people are tagging having to do with SMARTBoards. You can also explore the new Fresh
Bookmarks, Hotlist of what sites are popular and Explore Tags people are using.
3) After you Join or Sign In to your account you are ready to start bookmarking websites. On the
right hand side you will Save a New Bookmark. Click this to enter your URL.

2. 4) When you save the URL you need to add a Title and are given the option to add Notes, Tags, For
and you can mark a URL as Private if you do not want it to appear in the public search. Tagging is
what really makes Delicious. A Tag is a Label for the website. This is so you can easily retrieve
and organize your tags. I am saving a URL for a math blog I would like to look at, I am going to tag
the website Math and Blog.
5) On the right side of your screen you can see a list of all of your tags. When two tags are used
together this creates a Tag Bundle.

3. 6) You are now ready to filter your tags. Add a tag after your username and only the sites with that
tag are listed. Add two tags and only the sites with these two tags are listed. This is an example of
the sites I have tagged Math and Blog.
7) The value added to this organization is that when you filter your bookmarks by tags the list
creates a URL you can share. So if I want to share with the math department the math blogs I
follow I just send out this link. When I save a new website this is updated in my list. If you use RSS
feeds this list creates an RSS feed.
8) You can add a browser widget to get one click bookmarking. On the bottom of the website you
will see Tools. Here you will be given options to add a bookmarking button to different browers.
