WOOD AS AN ALTERNATIVE
BUILDING MATERIAL
• One Cubic meter of wood can sequester
one ton of CO2 eq. emissions
• An average UK dwelling will need four
cubic meters of wood of which are soft
timber, plywood and OSB
• Wood can replace brick, mortar, plaster
and steel in the construction process thus
further reducing emissions by another 24
tons of CO2 eq.

WOOD AS AN ALTERNATIVE BUILDING MATERIAL • One Cubic meter of wood can sequester one ton of CO2 eq. emissions • An average UK dwelling will need four cubic meters of wood of which are soft timber, plywood and OSB • Wood can replace brick, mortar, plaster and steel in the construction process thus further reducing emissions by another 24 tons of CO2 eq.
