This document provides an overview of a virtual learning session on measuring progress in controlling superbugs. It discusses the importance of measuring processes and outcomes to establish benchmarks, monitor compliance, and understand the impact of interventions. Examples of process measures include hand hygiene compliance and screening rates, while outcome measures include surveillance data on infections. The document encourages facilities to measure what matters most to frontline staff and share data with them to support ongoing improvement. Graphs are presented showing how various units achieved reductions in infection rates paired with increases in hand hygiene and supply usage. Social network mapping and other collaborative tools are also briefly discussed.
