A boastful rabbit accepted a race challenge from a tortoise despite believing the tortoise to be too slow. During the race, the rabbit raced ahead but grew tired and took a nap, allowing the tortoise to steadily make progress step by step without stopping. By the time the rabbit woke up from its nap, the tortoise had already reached the finish line first, proving that slow and steady wins the race.

2. One day a rabbit was boasting about how
fast he could run. He was laughing at the
tortoise for being so slow.

3. The rabbit was surprised the tortoise
challenged him to a race. The rabbit thought
this was a joke and accepted.
The fox was to be the referee of the race.

4. • As the race began, the rabbit raced ahead of
the tortoise, just like everyone thought. The
rabbit got to halfway and could not see the
tortoise anywhere.

5. • He was hot and tired and decided to stop
and take a short nap. Even if the turtle
passed him, he would be able to race to the
finish line ahead of him.

6. • All this time the turtle kept walking step by
step by step. He never quit no matter how
hot or tired he got. He just kept going.

7. • However, the rabbit slept longer than he
had thought and woke up. He could not see
the turtle anywhere! He went at full-speed
to the finish line but found the turtle there
waiting for him.
