The Mythology Quiz conducted by Quiz Club NITW on 4th of April 2024. The never ending world of mythical stories is one to lookout for some of the most unique happenings and moral lessons. The following quiz encapsulates questions from various mythologies across the world, put up together in the form of fun and challenging rounds. The above set consists of Prelims as well as the Finals.

Mahabharata. He turned to Lord Ganesha for assistance, and Lord Ganesha agreed
but with an unusual condition: “I won’t stop writing once I begin. If the writing
stops, I’ll stop too.” Ved Vyas accepted this condition, and with closed eyes, he
started narrating the Mahabharata. Lord Ganesha faithfully transcribed it without
pause.

temperature had shot up due to the intense effort. To reduce it, Ved Vyas suggests
an idea which turned into a ritual nowadays. In essence, it is believed that Ganesh

his wisdom, removes obstacles from our lives, and pays tribute to his divine

for this varies according to the myth. Pele was either banished by her father for her

wanted to create problems and tried to disturb Hanuman from his work. Hanuman
got angry and caught X by the tail and kept knocking him against a big stone. Finally,
Hanuman was gracious enough to accept X’s apologies. X then promised Hanuman,
that he would never obstruct any task performed for Lord Rama and that he would
not hurt the true devotees of Lord Ram and Hanuman during their lifetimes.
Since Hanuman was continuously knocking X against a big stone, the latter suffered
severe wounds on his body and was in immense pain. He requested Hanuman for
some __ to be applied to his wounds. X was very happy as he was relieved from all
pain and troubles. This was the story behind the tradition of offering __ to X,

successfully solve the riddle and when he did that, X was astounded and killed
herself by throwing herself into the sea, thus freeing Thebes from her harsh rule.

63. According to legends, after the famous sibling rivalry, Lord Kartikeya was angry and
left to hills in Southern India when he learnt of how his brother had completed the
famous task given to them. Eventually, Shiva and Parvati asked all Hindu sages to
attend their wedding. Shiva anticipates that when all the sages come to Kailasha,
they will tilt the world, so, he sends the sage Agastya down south to take place hills
there to counterbalance the effect. Due to an error caused, the hills were moved to
the current location of the Murugan temple at Palani where Lord Kartikeya was
actually meditating. Agastya pleads with him to return, but he refuses. So Agastya
heads back to Kailasha and informs the Gods there. X then heads South and pleads
with Kartikeya to return to Kailash from the bottom of Palani hill. This story can be
clearly witnessed as there is X’s idol at the bottom of Palani hill, next to the
entrance to the hike that leads up to the temple.

the calm, gentle Lakshmi with scattered hair, dangerous eyes and pointed teeth,
often used to visit her sister. She always visited her sister during the private
moments of Lord Vishnu and Maa Lakshmi. Alakshmi argued with Maa Lakshmi that
neither my husband nor anyone else worships me. So I will stay where you are.
Lakshmi felt very angry at this act of her sister and cursed her sister that wherever
there is a negative rib like dirt, jealousy, malice, laziness, you will live there.

at the age of 60. In this process, he realised how painful it is to dance continuously.

ground crying at Shiva by understanding the pain he is facing who has been dancing
__ of the Nataraja posture. With tears, he requested Shiva to perform an action such

When Bhrigu returned, he blamed all this chaos on Agni and cursed him.
However, Agni was enraged as he was not at fault here. He protested against the
curse because it affected his chastity as the ‘mouth of the gods’. So he withdrew
completely from Earth. All the gods rushed to Brahma for help. Brahma managed to
hold Agni to a compromise that ensured him of his virtue.
