Ixion was a king who was invited by Zeus to dine with the gods at Olympus.
He fell in love with Zeus' wife Hera and began to desire her. Zeus soon
became aware of his feelings and decided to test him by placing a cloud
figure of Hera next to Ixion when he was asleep. Ixion woke up overjoyed to
find "Hera" beside him and proceeded to make love to her. Ixion was
severely punished by Zeus for this act. The cloud image of Hera gave birth
to a deformed child, named C, who could not find any peace among the
humans. C made his home on the mountain of Pelion where he roamed, lived
and mated with the Magnesian mares.

Fun fact: Another account of this myth says that there was no C in the
story and that the children of C are actually the children of Ixion and the
cloud image of Hera.

The story of Belarsen(Barbarika) is rarely mentioned in Indian mythology.
Belarsen was the son of Ghatotkacha and the grandson of Bhima. He was an
exceptionally skilful tactician who always relied on his archery skills. It is often said
that he could aim at a target that he had not seen yet and still hit it! So it was
believed that his side would always win.
Had Belarsen joined the Kurukshetra War and fought on the Kaurava side, the
Pandavas would have lost. So Belarsen, obeying his mother, kept a promise to her.
If he honestly followed the promise, he would oscillate between the sides during the
course of the war and would eventually be the only man left standing.
Fearing the consequences of Belarsen's promise, Krishna (in disguise) asked
Belarsen to sacrifice his head in order to sanctify the battlefield and upon finding
out Krishna’s real identity, Belarsen duly complied.
