psychological adaptation to parenthood, including risk of postpartum depression, and other social

Provide direct patient care to newborn infants, including the following: full assessments,
monitoring closely for transitional progress from fetus to neonate as well as for congenital
defects, monitoring for signs of adverse effects on the infant due to drugs (both prescribed and
recreational), taken by the mother during pregnancy, and perform neonatal abstinence scoring on
infants at risk of withdrawal. Report any adverse events or noted risk to the appropriate physician
and obtain orders for interventions to ensure patient safety and successful outcomes. Ensure safe
environment for infant and provide teaching to new parents to ensure the same upon discharge.
Also work, periodically, in other units. Work in antepartum monitoring pregnant patients at high
risk due to threat of early delivery or other serious health problems. Work in the Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (NICU) monitoring critically ill and pre-term infants. Perform direct, quality,
safe patient care to all age groups including full assessments, medication administration, close
monitoring for changes in health status and any adverse events, and report to appropriate
physician. Make care plans, monitor progress, provide patient education, and record accurate,
detailed documentation of all assessments, observations, and interventions provided. Basic Life
