Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) help learners take control of and manage their own learning. The author discusses how they use several online tools and social networks as part of their PLE to improve their English skills. These include Facebook for communicating with others worldwide and learning from English pages, Twitter for following accounts and accessing breaking news quickly, Gmail for its tools and sharing across networks, YouTube for tutorials and music, and TuneIn for listening to radio stations around the world, including ones that play oldies music.
