2. Fantasy films are films with imaginative and different themes, that involve magic like Harry
Potter for example or supernatural events, make believe creatures or exotic fantasy worlds.
I think the reason that Fantasy is my favourite genre is because of how different it is and
because it is a make believe world they can have literally anything in them with lots of out
of the ordinary events happening with characters that you wish existed. I like how they are
invented lands that are in a way made real when there is a film made about it.
Sometimes fantasy films overlap with other genres such as science fiction or horror,
depending on what type of fantasy they are going there.
Although Fantasy is my favourite film genre there are quite a few fantasy films that I don’t
like this is because I think that it depends on the person as everyone has a different fantasy.
I also think most

Following on from Breaking Dawn Part 1 after the birth of Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward’s
(Robert Pattinson) daughter Renesme, Bella is now a new born vampire who is learning to use
her abilities and bring their half human, half vampire daughter up. However they have to protect
their daughter from the Volturi due to false allegations and the Cullens do this by gathering
together other vampire clans to make sure that they protect the child.
I think I am mainly attracted to Fantasy genre films because I like
how imaginative and different they are and I find them very
exciting and like how different they can be.
I like in particular how there is a romance element in this film and
it is an unconventional romance which I prefer as it is something
different, making it more interesting. Out of all the Twilight’s this is
my favourite one as I think every new film they make is better
than the one before it, which is good so that they can keep their
fans still watching.
4. The reason I watched Breaking Dawn Part 2 was because I have
watched all of the others as it was a saga however the first time I
seen the first twilight advertised trailer as well as the genre and
the way it looked, I also was interested and wanted to see it
because of the 2 main actors, Robert Pattinson and Kristen
Stewart as these are two actors that I really like. I think that Star
Theory really is right and I think that the popularity can increase
if you have chosen a well known and liked star to play one of the
roles especially if you get more than one. So I think this helped to
why it was so successful, also due to the fact it was a book. The
film carried over its fans from their books as they had become
best sellers. So there was a lot of excitement when people found
out that they was bringing films out.
In my opinion star theory helps to expand a films target audience
as there could be someone that loves an actor that is in a film in
the cinema but not particularly usually like that type of genre but
still watch it as I have done this a few times and it has made me
change my mind on that genre as every time I have done this I
have ended up liking the film after watching it.
So I think that all film makers should try aim to get big stars to
play the roles in their films as it would really pay off for them.

Fantasy genre based films are always mixed
with another genre, which is why there are so
many different types of fantasy films and in this
case with this film it is also a comedy, so it also
appeals to that audience as well, it also has
popular cast members in it too.
The film was released in the US and distributed
by Universal Pictures.

earned $539.815.487 from box office.

11. Media Literacy is a repertoire of competences that enables people to
analyse, evaluate and create messages in a wide variety of media
modes, genres and forms.
Media Literacy involves recognition of media texts so that things such
as films get acknowledged. This plays a big part on how successful a
movie can be as it needs to be advertised in order to get noticed and
become popular because if no one knows about the film then it wont
get watched. The main way I find out about films is because of trailers
on TV I think they are the best way of advertising a film as it captures
a wide audience range and shows clips from the actual film so you can
see what it is like more.
Other forms of advertising are billboards, magazines, web
applications, blogs, word of mouth, social networking sites, etc.
Some media texts are made by individuals that work alone for
themselves or their family and friends, however most of them are
produced and distributed by groups of people usually for commercial
profit.
12. Reception Theory (Hall) argues that contextual factors influence the way a person
views a film more than the textual factors do and this is due to your political
background because this plays a big part in the way you perceive a film and your
interpretation of that specific media text. Reception theory suggests that people
will only see a film because of their personal perception of that film and their
response to the story, genre and the stars that are in it as if you like the star and
can respond to them then it is very likely that you will also like a film that they
appear in also, so you will therefor be able to respond to the film. Age, where you
have been brought up when and how are also influences to why we watch the films
we do and like the stars we do. Reception theory links with star theory as star
theory says that people will go watch a film because a particular actor or actress is
in it so this there for will attract them to the film, this is also why directors try to
use successful and popular actors and actresses for their films so that they can
bring over the fans of theirs which will overall give the film a larger viewing
audience, making more money for them.
Reception theory suggests that the reasons that people are attracted to the actors
and the films that they are is due to their political views, beliefs, background, age
and what they are like as a person.
