So in different types of situation we will get different types of return depending on which type of
investment it is and what the economic situation is at the time (www.xpresstrade.com).
Portfolio Management:
By selecting securities that have little relationship with each other, an investor is able to reduce
relevant risk. Ideally, one would combine their securities in a way that will reduce relevant risk,
such as diversification, to optimally manage their portfolio. The decision to invest excess cash in
marketable securities involves not only the amount to invest but also the type of securities to
invest. To some extent, the two decisions are interdependent. Both should be based on an
evaluation of expected net cash flows and the uncertainty associated with these cash flows. In
future cash flow patterns are known with reasonable certainty and the yield curve is upward
sloping in the sense of long term securities yielding more than shorter term ones, a company may
wish to arrange its portfolio so that securities will mature approximately when the funds will be
needed. Such a cash flow pattern gives the firm a great deal of flexibility in maximizing the
average return on the entire portfolio, for it is unlikely that significant amounts of securities will
have to be sold unexpectedly.
Controlling the risk
The simple and timeless definition of risk is the chance of suffering a loss. Portfolio management
is largely about managing risk. All

A Comparison Of Marvel Studios And Jurassic World
In an unusual turn of events, in the normally cut throat world of movie production, Marvel
Studios has congratulated Jurassic World on replacing the 2012 Avengers movie as the box office
king. Not content to just issue a press release acknowledging that the Avengers film had been
replaced by the wildly profitable Jurassic World, Marvel Studios has had a special piece of art made
up just for the occasion.
Marvel Studios created an image of the main character from Jurassic World riding a T Rex while
the assembled characters from the Avengersfilm looked on in surprise. At the top of the image
Marvel had placed Thor s hammer in the hands of the T Rex, to signify the passing of the torch, or
hammer in this case, from Marvel Studios Avengers

point was well taken. General I was empowered by the evangelist endeavors of the Pentecostals,
the stories of the work of the Spirit in the lives of individuals in different customs, and their

receiving of Holy Spirit is only done by looking up to Jesus. Sometimes it happens without even

Horton says about receiving the Holy Spirit as growing up in India I have seen a lot of people

gifts of God is by grace through faith, and that faith included obedience, must be based on God s

Similarities Between The Inner And Outer Planets
Our solar system consists of one star and some debris, said Carl Sagan. There are many differences
and similarities between the Inner and Outer planets. Our solar system is comprised of the Sun
being in the middle, then followed by planets rotating it. The planets which orbit the Sun are
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter
, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The Inner planets are very
different from Outer planets and the Outer planets are completely different from Inner planets, but
both are very similar in many ways. Our planets in the solar systemhave many similarities and
differences.
First of all, Inner planets are different from Outer planets in many ways. The surface of Inner
planets compared to Outer planets are rocky, Inner planets are denser, all the Inner planets are in
the asteroid belt. The Cosmos is all that is or was or ever will be. Our feeblest contemplations of
the Cosmos stir us there is a tingling in the spine, a catch in the voice, a faint sensation as if a
distant memory, of falling from a height. We know we are approaching the greatest of mysteries.
Carl Sagan. There is nothing more than what there is. The surface of the Inner planets is very
different from those of the Outer planets because, Earth compared to Uranus is completely
different due to Uranus being mostly made out of gas. The Inner planets are also much denser than
Outer planets. For example, Venus average density is 5.24g/cm3 as opposed to Neptune which is
1.33g/cm3. Lastly,

Jake Barnes In The Sun Also Rises
In the final chapter of The Sun Also Rises, we see Jake Barnes emotionally destroyed from the
events of the prior festival. Jake reverts from taking an active role in the story to one of passivity.
When he arrives in San Sebastian, the majority of description is merely observation. Jake watches
the beachgoers and cycling team; he also swims alone. Jake shows no desire to interact with anyone
else in the city. While his aloofness seems misanthropic, Jake actually seeks absolution from the
sins he committed in Pamplona. During the festival, Jake endures numerous blows to his pride and
sensibilities. Cohn affronts Jake s masculinity after knocking him out. The result is the same when
Brett asks to be pimped out to Romero. After the introduction, Montoya and his bullfighting friends
excommunicate Jake from their community for such a blatant act of desecration... Show more

He goes from thinking about Brett nearly all the time preceding the fiesta to only thinking about
her when necessary. While swimming in San Sebastian, Jake observes a couple laughing in the
water (239). Jake does not equate the couple s relationship to his own, a giant leap from his
compulsion we observed in previous chapters. When Brett experiences trouble and needs Jake s
assistance he responds. However, in the thoughts Jake expresses after responding to Brett s
letter, he finally understands Cohn s reasoning for calling him a damned pimp (193). Jake
realization that he fits the insult begins in the passage when he remarks, Send a girl off with one
man. Introduce her to another to go off with him. Now go and bring her back, (243). This
realization prompts Jake s standoffishness in the car on the last page. When Brett tries to be
idealistic he shrugs it off simply commenting, Isn t pretty to think so? (250). The ruckus in
Pamplona forces Jake to view Brett in the realm of realism and not in one of

situation, which began on September 8th, 2015 that continued onto April 11th, 2017. It will

has a strong sense regarding to the definition of misfit doing something out of ordinary to where I
m at as a collegestudent.
Now, onto my experience. I was sitting in Study Hall then I overheard a conversation between a
student and teacher regarding this program called Futures Lab, which is a program to guide
students into college. This conversation inspired me to leave Study Hall; to check out Futures
Lab so I d started searching Special Needs Colleges which gave me a surplus of colleges to look
from such as Landmark, Mitchell and Beacon Colleges. The first website that intrigued me was
Mitchell College; which was first on my top choices of schools as it provided train transportation
and my major, which is Television Communications. One of two things that I did was, doing a
virtual tour of campus as that s when my excitement was out of control since Mitchell was the
college that was a perfect fit at that certain time. Then the second thing that I did was; I had
recorded information in my notebook and printed about fifteen pages of paper on Mitchell College
to give to my parents for them to read why Mitchell was the right place for me to get my education.

Florence Nightingale
Florence Nightingale who has been described as the founder of modern nursing was born to a
English family in Florence on May 12, 1820. Nightingale was born to a very religious, and
wealthy family and was often encouraged to attend church as a girl. When Nightingale turned 24
she decided that she had the desire to work in hospitals, but her family strongly disapproved due to
the hospital conditions at the time. Her parents finally gave her permission to attend a prestigious
nursing school in Germany. In 1853 Nightingale took charge of a charity which took care of women
in distressed circumstances.
After the breakout of the Crimean WarNightingale decided to organize a team of nurses to help
tend to wounded British soldiers. After arriving in Constantinople Nightingale observed that the
condition at the British hospital were terrible and quickly sought to fix this issue. Even though the
British Army did not have enough medical supplies available Nightingale still managed to ... Show

priority for everyone. In addition to this Nightingale opposed women s rights because she
believed that women are selfish creatures . Nightingale never recovered from the physical strain

Legalizing Marijuana Debate
Legalizing marijuana has become a controversial and highly debated topic. More specifically, the
question under investigation is will the taxation of marijuana provide relief for our Connecticut s
budget crisis and shortfalls. Legalizing marijuana has been a topic of conversation more and more
as the year s pass. First, it started off with decriminalizing marijuana to provide relief to the justice
system. Recently there have several states, including Colorado, Washington, and Oregon who have
legalized the use and sale of marijuana to provide revenue for the state. It is anticipated that
Colorado marijuana taxwill yield more than $140 million in 2016 (Ekins and Henchman, 2016).

The Role Of Protein And Carbohydrate Utilisation During...
Introduction
Post exercise nutrition, especially protein, plays an important role of the training regimen amongst
athletic population. Post exercise nutrition is used to improve performance and enhance the body s
recovery process following exercise. This review will focus on the role of protein and carbohydrate
utilisation post exercise and there effects on protein synthesis. Anabolic and catabolic processes are
controlled by the neuroendocrine system in response to training. Resistance training produces a
catabolic state, in which the muscle proteins are broken down. During recovery an anabolic state
predominately takes over leading to muscle repair and growth (Plowman Smith, 2014). The
macronutrient protein has grasped attention during the recovery phase of exercise. Protein plays
multiple important roles throughout the entire body, regulating every chemical reaction and used in
the structural tissue within the human body (Brown, Miller Eason, 2006). Supplementary protein
offers three main common types of complete protein; whey, casein and egg. These complete
proteins differ in the role of recovery post exercise (Campbell Spano, 2011). The macronutrients
protein and carbohydrates have their own functions within the body but work together to generate
an anabolic state within the body when ingested post exercise (Poole, Wilborn, Taylor Kerksick,
2010).
Protein and Carbohydrates
The main function of protein is a regulator, including the actions of some hormones,

The Conflict Between The Protagonist And Antagonist In The...
In the film Mean Girls, the storyline is primarily driven by the conflict between the protagonist
and antagonist. The main character, Cady Heron, is both. Reasons why she could be the
protagonist are that she is innocent, kind hearted, and also very smart and honest. In the
beginning of the film, Cady doesn t know how high school works. Guys such as Jason, sexualize
her and she does not really understand what he s talking about. This is where her innocence and
her misunderstanding of what he said to her takes place. After this, Cady s kind heart steps in.
Cady is told by Janis and Damian about the horrible Plastics at the school. They explain what they
do and how they work. Even though Cady hears about how awful they are,she decides to give
them a chance anyways. She sits at lunch with The Plastics and ends up going to the mall and

Regina and take her from her superiority of The Plastics, someone will have to take Regina s
place, and Gretchen and Karen could both agree that Cady would be the next Regina. Another
time where Cady could be seen as being the next Regina George is whenever she won Spring
Fling Queen. Cady is chosen because after Regina s accident, the student body thinks that she will
fall into Regina s place as being the leader of The Plastics. Cady struggles with fitting in but she

Employee Empowerment Contributes to an Organizations Success
Introduction
Empowerment is a powerful tool that companies give to allow each employee to become a decision
maker. When empowered employees truly understand their potential, there is almost an immediate
positive reaction in the both the company and the individual. For a company to realize success,
employees must be trusted and empowered to make business decisions that are in line with the
company s governing policies.
The objective of this paper is to provide a better understanding of why and how employee
empowerment is critical to run a successful operation. Employees and employers both gain positive

You enable your employees to succeed by providing them with the means, opportunity and capacity
they need to excel. Lawson (2006)
For empowerment to come to fruition, it can take years before all the pieces are correctly
administered and functioning on their own. Patients and understanding must be displayed as new
employees are brought on board and setbacks happen. The worst actions an organization can take
are to stop embracing the free thinking of their employees and to discontinue training. Organization
must keep their workforce engaged. As Gilbert Jamison (n.d.) wrote Bottom line, creating and
sustaining a culture of excellence cannot be achieved without fully engaged employees who feel a
part of the organization, and that they are truly valued contributors to the success of the
organization. Organizations must support their teams consistently, provide ample training to new
employees, and follow up with continuous training to keep the employee engaged. Support from all
areas and a collaborative environment must be established to embrace creative thinking. With
patients and time, the organization will become self managed through employee empowerment.

They are obviously very popular pets, but we should all know that millions of dogs go into
shelters every year and most of them must be put down due to not finding a home. This is caused
by overpopulation of dogs from individuals meaning to buy their dogs from breeders instead of
shelters. Puppies bought from breeders are not spayed or neutered and this leads to the reproduction

For example, we could calculate the IQ difference for each subject by subtracting their IQ while
taking a placebo from their IQ while taking the new drug. If our sample average was positive, it
would mean that, on average, our subjects had a higher IQ while they were taking the experimental
drug than they had while taking the placebo.
In this case, we might choose these as our hypotheses:
Null hypothesis: The difference between IQ while the subjects were taking the drug and while the
subjects were taking the placebo is 0. (The population average is 0).
Alternative hypothesis: The IQ of the subjects was higher while they were taking the drug than
while they were taking the placebo. (The population average is greater than 0).

Illegal Immigration Is A Hot Topic Debate
Illegal immigration is a hot topic debate in today society as many people have their viewpoints on
it. Immigration could be the second most talked about maybe first topic behind terrorism. Illegal
immigration has been going on since foreigners were allowed in the US in the early 20th century.
Even backed then, there were mixed emotions as many Americans did not favor foreigners and
there were many attempts to restrict what they were allowed to do. Immigrants come across the
border every day. According to Colorado Alliance for ImmigrationReform, 700,000 new illegals
enter each year and remain in the country and that there are an unofficial number of 8 to 12
million total stated by the US Department of Homeland Security in 2003 and has only increased.
This has only fueled the problem is still going on today as many still do not favor immigrants in
the US, especially if he or she is here illegally. Illegal immigration is a two headed beast as there
is a good side and a bad side and even though many are against illegal immigration, it is important
that illegal immigration is discussed as ignoring it will make the situation worse and that they are
allowed to stay in the country because of the benefits that they provide for America.
I believe illegal immigration is a real, significant problem because of the trouble that is being
caused by what other people say. Many believe there evil and here to take over the US causing
many to dislike them. According to Americans for Legal

Beyond Petroleum ( Bp )
Beyond Petroleum (BP) formerly British Petroleum is a company that claims to be devoted to
finding new energy sources with little impact on the environment. Ferrell, Fraderich, and Ferrell,
explain in their Business Ethics textbook in 2012 that after several environmental tragedies in the
mid to late 2000 s, the company had to reassess their ethical standards and make changes to repair
their image and regain the confidence of their stakeholders. During this time, they began investing
in wind, solar, biofuels, and many other new types of energy sources. They also created programs to
educate citizens and stakeholders about environmental awareness. Most importantly, though, they
also tasked their ethicsand compliance team with creating a code of conduct policy and
communicate it out to every employee (p.343 345). Considering that BP is a worldwide
company, with employees of diverse languages and cultures, this was a very difficult task to
complete. Not only would it be a challenge to communicate the new code of conduct out to each
employee, but it was even more difficult for the company to enforce it. Because of the lack of
understanding on how to deal with ethical dilemmas, managers and employees within the
company did not complete proper risk assessment, leading to the worst oil spill in U.S. History.

Love And Honor Through The Ages. Love Can Do Crazy Things
Love and Honor Through the Ages Love can do crazy things to many individuals; making them
crazy or mad, dying from a possible broken heart, or even killing themselves or someone else.
During the Middle Ages, love was termed as chivalry or noble love, and then romantic love in the
Nineteenth Century of Romanticism. I will discover and show how it changed during the periods
of literature with the materials we have studied in this class. Let s start at the beginning it s a very
good place to start. Courtly loveand chivalry were depicted in The Knights Tale by Chaucer. Two
knightly brothers, Palamon and Arcite, fall in lovewith the same woman. According to the rules of
chivalry, they are willing to protect one another at all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

With all the circumstances, faithfully, /
That is to say truth, honour, and knighthood, /

First and foremost, a knight was expected to act honorably in his presentation in battles and in his
treatment of women. Common with the times in which this and the next story were written, the
Middle Ages was the expression of chivalry. Depicted within these stories, the unwavering valor in
the face of danger, loyalty to one s leader and companions, and an intense concern for personal
honor (Lawall 1145) are shown multiple times over. Consequently, throughout the story, Arcite and
Palamon faltered in their knightly code, much like the knights in the next story, Malory s The

Descriptive Analysis of Statistical Data
Final Project: Statistics II Descriptive analysis of statistical data INTRODUCTION There have
always been crimes, from a treachery to an assassination. Happens in every country you can think
of, and every government has to deal with it. It is really stressful to try to understand the nature of
the crimes: why are they done and where could they happen next. Out of this preoccupation is that
we found studies gathering data from communities; we focused on one specific crime: murders. In
several communities, it is thought that the murder rate is somehow related to several factors. For
instance, it is common to hear that the murder rate depends on poverty and unemployment. Starting
from this hypothesis, the database found to make this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now we are using the equation given at the partial F test. It is common that some times one of
the independent variables (in this case, percentage of families with income below $5000 and
percentage people unemployed) may be linearly related with another independent variable. In
other words, there may be a pair of explanatory (independent) variables that measure the same
thing or that they depend on each other, so it is recommended to drop one of them because
having both causes instability in the model. This means that the equation wouldn t be as precise
as it should. This issue is called multicollinearity. To prove if this is the case in our study, we
calculated some numbers called correlation coefficients and variance inflation factors. Basically,
the rule is that if one of the correlation coefficient between a pair of explanatory variables is
higher than 0.9 there is evidence of multicollinearity. Another criteria is that if the variance
inflation factor of each explanatory variable is higher than 10, there is a case of multicollinearity,
as well. In our study, multicollinearity was not an issue. Another issue when having more than 1
independent variable as predictors is that the presence of one of them may affect the prediction
capacity of the other. For being sure that this wasn t happening, we proceeded to perform a
stepwise procedure. In this procedure one variable is entered to the equation at a time, and

Analysis Of The Movie Kabuki
1.Kabuki Kabuki is a style of Japanese theater that evolved from Noh theater. Noh was slow,
contemplative, and philosophical, and eventually became so refined that it was considered
inaccessible and reserved for the educated upper classes. Kabuki was developed by the rising
middle class as popular entertainment, and included stylized fighting, aerial stunts, exaggerated
makeup and costuming, and physical and verbal comedy.
2.Nixon in China Nixon in China is an American opera portraying President Nixon s historic visit
to China. The opera pulls influences from the highly stylized Beijing opera performance style, and
portrays the clash of Asian and Western cultures that was manifested in the US tense relationship
with China prior to Nixon s visit.

Jessie s Semester 2 Reflection 2016
I am really proud that I have improved in maths, socratic, comprehension strategies, running the
track and cybersafety. The areas of maths that I ve improved most in is data, division, percentages
and problem solving. I ve improved Socratic as I find it easier to come up with topics and I have
been speaking more in Socratic discussions as in two sessions I ve talked 5 times. Literacy Circles
has helped me get better at some of the comprehension strategies such as summarising,
connections and main idea, I have also improved on cause and effect. Running nearly every day
has not only helped me to keep fit but improve my running skills as now I can run the track
without stopping easily. Gmail and budd e has helped me become more cyberwise on technology.
In buddies I have helped my buddy spell, write, find new ways to help her do maths and use
different apps on ipads. I have enjoyed helping Anastasia learn new things. Pic Collage, Keynote,...

Hofstede s Improve Four Dimensions Helping Others
Analysing 116 000 survey questionnaires, Hofstede s improve four dimensions helping others to
understand different culture behaviour. These dimensions were created based on simple problems
that most societies have every day.
The first dimension, power distance (PD), refers to hierarchy , to how inequality is approved by
subordinates and superiors, how power is divided between societies and how people behave with
authority. Hofstede divided this dimension in low which are societies with characteristics as
inequality at the minimum level, everyone enjoy the same benefits, subordinates opinion is taken
into account, managers should be democrat and high that includes societies that are autocrats
superiors, centralized structure, dependent subordinates, hierarchy reflects difference, superiors
have benefits.
The second dimension is uncertainty avoidance, and it shows how people react when they feel
threatened, societies that do not take risks or don t try new situations. This dimension is divided in
low and the main characteristics are rules are not allowed, common sense, hard work is not a virtue,
not structured activities. In the other side there re societies with the high uncertainty avoidance
characterized for don t allow changes, established rules, just in necessary cases, experts have the
better knowledge.
Then is the Individualism vs Group/collectivist orientation, this dimension shows How people
distribute their social life, importance of group life, goal achievements

and university lecturers are also planning to strike. Critically assess why substantial reforms are
being planned for public sector pensions and the effects on the personal finances of those affected
by such reforms. The difference between many tax and benefit changes the government proposes

Whereas with the career average pension, it is based on the employees pay throughout the whole
time you have been in the job. E.g. in a 1/60th pension again, if their pay was ВЈ30,000 one year,
they would build this much: 1/60th x ВЈ30,000= ВЈ500. If in the next year, their pay was ВЈ31,000,
again the same calculation would be done and they would earn ВЈ516.67 of pension in that year.
This happens for every year you are working until you retire. All the years will be added up and
the end and that will be your pension fund. A final salary pension is much better if throughout
your career you expect to get promotions and end your career on a higher salary. On the other
hand career average pensions work better if you peak at your earnings potential and earn less
later on in your working life. Career average earning can affect women more as if they take time
off to have children they will not earn any money into their pension fund throughout this time.
The 1/60th fraction that was just used in the examples above is called the accrual rate ; this is
the fraction of pay you get as a pension. This varies from job to job depending what industry you
are in within the public sector, as shown in the table below. Industry | Fraction (accrual rate)| NHS
| 1/54th| Civil Service | 1/44th| Teachers | 1/60th|

The Benefits Of Education In This Is Water By David Foster...
Many high school students have grown jaded with the modern education system, sitting for hours
in a classroom almost every day having seemingly useless information crammed into their brains. At
some point, the curiosity died and left behind the average student of today. Most people will agree
that a change must occur within the way the youth receives an education; however, fewer people
have touched on the concept that the students must change their mindsets as well. They must all
look beyond the surface level education that teachers tend to focus on and understand what more
they can gain. Throughout David Foster Wallaces speech This is Water, Wallace primarily employs
didactic little parable ish stories along with hyperbolic examples to enforce the idea that the true
benefits of education come from learning simple awareness rather than knowledge. Almost
immediately, Wallace inserts the opening to the story that gives his speech a title, speaking about
two young fish that eventually come across an an older fish who asks them the oddly perplexing
question of how s the water? . He then goes on to explain that somehow, the fish do not understand
the obvious fact that they live in the water, it surrounds them. This story serves as an introduction to
the point Wallace hopes to give his audience, that a liberal artseducation is not so much about filling
you up with knowledge as it is about quote teaching you how to think. The speaker then prompts his
audience to

What Is The Setting Of The Bluest Eye
In the novel, The Bluest Eye, we learn about the lives of black, middle school aged girls. The
novel takes place in 1941, during a time where racial and prejudice situations are prevalent in the
lives of African Americans. The children experience a childhood full of racialism, great pain, and
subordination,
The children who we come to learn so much about are two sisters, Claudia and Frieda, Pecola,
who is their foster sister now. Claudia gives a brief look into the setting of the story in
describing her home as well. Our house is old, cold, and green . She explains where she lives
and how cold the house is and how it looks. She introduces us to, Mr. Henry a friend of the
family that comes to visit them occasionally. The children sit and hear grown folks talking in the
kitchen. They hear how the grown folks talk about each other bad, there is not much good to
usually say. Well, somebody asked him why he left a nice good churchwoman like Della for that
heifer (13). This shows how African Americans are negative about each other and rarely have any
nice encouraging words to say about one another.
Pecola is now in the home due a fire at home by Cholly Breedlove, her father. She has been on a
long journey of great pain and confused about what kind of identity she wants to have. She is now
in the home with Claudia and Frieda since the event has taken place. She has a cup with Shirley

The Basis for Judicial Reviews
Judicial Review is only available where public powers or duties are being exercised. It is not
available for Private Law decisions. The basis for Judicial Review comes from the Separation of
Powers doctrine, specifically at a Federal level Chapters I, II and III of the Constitution. The
Administrative Decision (Judicial Review) Act 1977 (Cth) was enacted to simply the procedure
for seeking Judicial Review of Commonwealth matters, however not all administrative actions

legislation, the Administrative Law Act 1978. Judicial Review will only look at the legality of
the decision, not any fact finding or factual conclusions. Merits review is essentially a fresh look
at the original decision where the reviewer can even consider new evidence. Merits review is
characterised by the capacity for substitution of the decision of the reviewing person or body for
that of the original decision maker Merits Review is only available if an Act provides this right.
Such review can be conducted internally, by the same department who made the decision, or to an

Sustainable living is a lifestyle that attempts to reduce an individual s or society s use of the earth s
natural resources and his/her own resources. Practitioners of sustainable living often attempt to
reduce their carbon footprint by altering methods of transportation, energy consumption and diet.
Proponents of sustainable living aim to conduct their lives in ways that are consistent with

As a result of these industrial farming conditions, today s mounting environmental stresses are
further exacerbated. These stresses include: declining water tables, chemical leaching, chemical
runoff, soil erosion, land degradation, loss in biodiversity, and other ecological concerns.
A more sustainable means of acquiring food is to purchase locally and seasonally. Buying food
from local farmers reduces carbon offsets, caused by long distance food transport, and stimulates
the local economy. Local, small scale farming operations also typically utilize more sustainable
methods of agriculture than conventional industrial farming systems such as decreased tillage,
nutrient cycling, fostered biodiversity and reduced chemical pesticide and fertilizer applications.
Adapting a more regional, seasonally based diet is more sustainable as it entails purchasing less
energy and resource demanding products that naturally grow within a local area and require no long
distance transport. These vegetables and fruits are also grown and harvested within their suitable
growing season. Thus, seasonal food farming does not require energy intensive greenhouse
production, extensive irrigation, plastic packaging and long distance transport from importing non
regional foods, and other environmental stressors. Local, seasonal produce is typically fresher,
unprocessed and argued to be more nutritious. Local produce also contains less to no chemical

The Harvard Referencing Style In Academic Literature
Introduction Referencing is one of the most important aspects of any academic literature in the
modern day scenario. It is the main way through which someone acknowledges the fact that they
have borrowed the ideas of someone else, and have used their work for citation ion their work.
There are several different kinds of referencing system among which the Harvard referencing
style is one of the most popular. The different aspects of the Harvard style along with the main
methods through which the style is implemented have been detailed and discussed. Herein, this
study is about the Harvard referencing style and detailing the actual point of referencing in the
first place. The Actual Point of Referencing Referencing is extremely important while compiling
an academic file, as it is the main method of showing acknowledgement to the authors of the
work which has been used for ideas in the said academic literature. A failure in this regard leads
to people developing the misconception that the author has cheated or plagiarised someone else
s work and is now claiming it as their own. Any kind of plagiarism is considered to be a serious
offence, especially in the academic circles. Being accused of the malpractice of plagiarism is one
of the worst hits that the reputation of a researcher can ever receive. Indeed, it is significantly
difficult to recover a proper reputation once accusations of this kind are made towards someone.
For students, being accused of the

Violence In Macbeth
In the play, Macbeth, Macbeth has just been told his wife has died. She should have died

creeps in this pretty pace from day to day (Shakespeare). Macbeth reaction is surprising, given the
fact that his wife has just died. His reaction shows the consequences of prolonged exposure to

compass. In fact, violence in the media can lead to a negative influence on behavior, desensitization,

The impact of violence in the media is believed to cause many negative behaviors. Psychologist

causal risk factor for increased aggressive behavior, aggressive cognition, and aggressive affect

The Truth About Performance-Enhancing Drugs
The Truth About Performance Enhancing Drugs
Doping in sports. A topic in which shows up in T.V. shows, movies, newspapers, and magazine
articles. But what does society really know about performance enhancing drugs? According to the
website Merriam Webster the definition of doping is illegal use of a drug (such as a steroid) to
improve an athlete s performance. Doping in sport should not be allowed because, it is not fair to
the athletes not on steroids, dangerous to the user, and aggression towards other players also
known as roid rage.

But think of this ... would it be fair if your team who was not using steroids were to play a game
where everyone on the opposing team were on steroids. Then the people supporting doping would
not think that is very fair and would maybe even think it would cheating.

Pale Blue Dot
Carl Sagan extravagantly uses syntax, diction, and rhetorical devices in his essay Pale Blue Dot to
describe how planet earth is just one small speck in the vast unknown area of outer space, and
how we as people could be classified as insignificant to the rest of the solar system.
Within the story, Sagan used astonishing examples of syntax to get the reader thinking, not only
about the essay itself, but about the bigger picture. Near the end of the essay Sagan described
how we have explored the wide array of planets in space, but have not settled on any by saying,
ВЁ Visit, yes. Settle, no ВЁ(Sagan 4 of 5). This use of short sentences impacts the reader and
really catches their attention. Instead of drawing out a long explanation, he used these short
sentences to quickly convey the importance of how unknown that outer space really is and how
we are are only one small letter in a huge 400 page book. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The word Delusion was used within the sentence ...The delusion that we have some privileged
position in the Universe... (Sagan 3 of 5) . The word Delusion can have the connotation as being a
word that describes someone or something that is not of their right mind, maybe a little crazy.
The denotation is very similar in the sense that it says the word to be an idiosyncratic belief or
impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as
reality or rational argument. If the author had chosen to use a different word in place of delusion,
it would not have taken the reader into another dimension or imaginary world , which this word
did very well. It created a sense of unknown when read by the reader, highlighting the key idea that
the outer space is a massive blank canvas in which we have only written our name in the corner

Women s Rights Of Women Essay
The gender gap has been a pressing issue throughout American history, as a myriad of women have
expressed through outlets such as public assemblies, literature, and speeches. There have been three
waves of the women s movement, each targeting a variety of issues within each era. The third
wave was in 1995, where Hillary Clinton spoke in Beijing, China, claiming that women s rights
were the same as human rights, that every aspiring girl deserved the civil liberties that every man
was given around the world. Moreover, the movement had shifted towards women in developing
nations and those in poverty around the world. In her speech, Clinton develops a political
framework in which American ideals equate to basic human rights that can be accessible to
individuals on an international level.
Clinton discusses the violence that women experience globally: women s offspring is killed if
the it is born female, and rape against women is considered a war prize or punishment. She insists
that the female counterpart is necessary in developing the world: if the woman flourishes, then so
will her family, and a result the nation will do well (American Rhetoric). Women are not only
essential to mankind itself, but also to the family the basic unit of society. However, women are
not given access to education, health care, jobs and credit, let alone a chance to cherish basic legal,
human rights and have an active political life. Without addressing the social ills, women s lives
cannot improve,

construed as management attempting to influence employeeВЎВ¦s rights to organize and a
potential ULP section 8a 3 violation. Employer tried to coerce the employees to keep them from

The First Success Factor
As the first success factor, different communication styles lead to conflict. Brett et al. (2006)
emphasized on direct and indirect communication that it could easily create misunderstanding
within the team. One of the example which explained by Brett et al. (2006) is the American
expatriate asked their Japanese team members of do you agree with the ideas? As the result, they
all answered yes, which does not mean they agreed in Japanese cultures but it means they show
their American member respect.
The failure from this case could occur when the American misunderstood the indirect
communication concept by base their country s culture only. Meyer that the team members should
have flexible mind to learn the new cultures and avoid their cultural bias by misinterpretation from
individual s culture (Rizk, 2014). Adler (1997) added that misinterpretation could cause by
inaccurate stereotypes. Through increasing cultural awareness, the team members could improve
the accuracy and make more understanding of the team s norms.
Another aspect is the languages toward the team members could create problems in
misunderstanding and frustration toward the native speakers (Brett et al., 2006). Most of the native
speakers could not say from their mind directly and they need to translate them into easy words
which may lack of some details as well. The language proficiency could enhance the social
interaction between the expatriates and the host country members but it led no evidence of

Decline Of The Music Industry
Music has always been an important part of our society since the beginning of time. After years of
discovering new styles and rhythms an industry began to form. This industry, known as the music

years, there has been a noticeable drop in profit. The strong decline in the music industrys profit is
the direct result of advancements in technology.
Advancements in technology over the past ten years have been incredible by making everyday life

Luckly, teaming up with service providers, two methods for tracing files are being enforced. The
most common tracking method for file sharing is heading probing. Header probing involves an
active engine on the network to take a look at the file headers for any files being transferred.
Since most files are transmitted with the sole intention to load web pages and pictures, the
engine is fixed to only focus on the headers of files over a certain size. The header is then
scanned for suspected keywords that are often provided by a content provider. The content
provider or associated content provider protection agency therefore will give a keyword such as
a specific song title they can hunt for. If the scanner catches one of those keywords, an alert is
given to the person in charge of monitoring the content. From the alert, they are able to track the
user. The second most widely used tracking method is most commonly known as traffic logging.
Traffic logging monitors the IP activity of every upload and download on a particular server.
This means that any time one is downloading or uploading a file to popular or unpopular file
hosting sites, their IP is being recorded. If a company decides to file a copyright takedown notice on
the file, the user that uploaded the file experiences the repercussions

A black hole is a point in space where there is extreme gravitational pull, so extreme that light itself
cannot escape. The strength of gravity is so strong due to the fact that an immense amount of
matter has been contained in a small space.
The existence of black holes was first theorized by John Mitchell in 1783. Mitchell accepted
Newton s laws of gravity and suggested that light escaping from the surface of a star would have its
speed reduced due to the gravitation pull of the star, and therefore if a star s gravitation pull was
strong enough even light would not be able to escape.[1] Using the approximate speed of light he
reasoned that if an object was approximately 500 times the mass of the sun light would not be able

As this matter spirals into the black hole it creates what is known as an accretion disk, which
accelerates and heats up emitting X rays which can then be detected by astronomers.[6]
Furthermore existence that black holes exist comes from the observations of astronomers of
bursts of energy which are detected and then lost. An event horizon is an area of space around a
black hole for which nothing can escape, once an object or any matter crosses this event horizon
the gravity of the black hole will be too strong for it to escape. As a cloud of gas swirls and nears
a black hole, the gases heat up and will emit x rays. Astronomers have observed instances of
several burts of x rays being detected and then disappearing at areas where black holes are thought
to be found. This may be caused by the gases emitting x rays and then crossing the event horizon
and disappearing forever. The observations of these bursts of energy are useful for astronomers in
finding black holes.
GX 339 4, illustrated here, is among the most dynamic binaries in the sky, with four major
outbursts in the past seven years. In the system, an evolved star no more massive than the sun
orbits a black hole estimated at 10 solar masses. [5]

Comparison Of Ethos And Pathos In Advertising
In today s age, advertisements are found in almost every situation. These advertisements are found
in a multitude of different places, including places such as billboards, newspapers, and on the
television. Advertisements are most successful if they incorporate ethos, pathos, and logos into the
message they are trying to present. Ethos is the credibility of an advertisement, pathosis the
emotional appealof an advertisement, and logos is the logic found in the advertisement. This paper
will show the similarities and differences in pathos, logos, and ethos found in two separate
Budweiser advertisements.
Ethos, pathos, and logos are all rhetorical appeals, meaning that they are used to assist the speaker
or writer in harnessing rhetoric. Clark (2016) considers rhetoric as a tool meant for persuasion as
well as for creating effective arguments. Rhetoric became extremely popular during the golden age
of Greece, and most elite young men in Greek city states such as Athens were trained to utilize
rhetoric to their fullest abilities (Clark, 2016). Plato, an ancient Greek philosopher, believed that
rhetoricians those who used rhetoric to influence and sway opinions used rhetoric irresponsibly
(Clark, 2016). Rhetoric certainly did not die out with the passing of time and is still found in today
s modern era.
Of these three appeals, pathos is the most prevalent in both advertisements. An inherent form of
pathos in the Budweiser commercial was the relationship between a puppy and

Dimensional Fund Advisors Case Analysis Essay
1)DFA s investment strategy is based on their belief in the principle that stock market is efficient.
They attempt to match a broad based, value weighted small stock index and position themselves in
the market as a passive fund manager that still claimed to add value by capturing specific
dimensions of risks identified by financial science. DFA s investment strategy incorporates elements
of both passive and active management. It is passive in the sense that like many other index
managers, it focuses on the importance of diversification, lower turnover and lower fees than
actively managed portfolios. It is active in the sense that it develops its small value stock focus

DFA s trading strategy such as avoiding stocks if news announcements are coming in the near
future or if stock has recently reported sales by insiders reflect a belief that stock prices can
potentially not reflect all private information. DFA also does not accept the weak form efficient
because if stock prices only reflect all information in past prices, they would see the value of
performance fundamental analysis of the firm they are looking at (but the case indicates that DFA
does not performance fundamental analysis).
4)Fama and French s three factor model attempts to explain the variation of stock prices through a
multifactor model that includes a size factor and BE/ME factor in addition to the beta risk factor.
Fama French model essentially extended the CAPM (which breaks up cause of variation of stock
price into systematic risk which is non diversifiable and idiosyncratic risk which is diversifiable) by
introducing these two additional factors. Fama and French find that stocks with high beta didn t
have consistently higher returns than stocks with low beta and this indicates that beta was not a
useful measure under their model. Their model is based on research findings that sensitivity of
movements of the size and BE/ME factor constituted risk, and

Determinants of Carbon Dioxide Emissions in the...
Introduction The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Goddard Institute for Space
Studies (2014) states that global surface temperature in 2013 was +0.6В°C (~1.1В°F) warmer than
the 1951 1980 base period average, thus the seventh warmest year in the GISS analysis. Global
warming has always been correlated by the increasing amount of greenhouse gases, which carbon
dioxideis notoriously known for, in the Earth s atmosphere. Many environmental activists are
putting pressures to every facet of society and making them aware about the harm of the
continuously increasing carbon dioxide emission that the world is experiencing. The Philippines is

With this objective, the author thinks that there is a need to empirically determine the impact of
macroeconomic determinants on carbon dioxide emissions.
Significance Oftentimes, human nature dictates us to spur the most from what we have, thus, it is
natural for greed and tunnel vision for growth to be in the minds of many businessmen,
policymakers, or any citizen in the population. However, in many cases, these men fail to recognise
that more than monetary costs, many of human actions entail environmental repercussions. The
significance of this study can be derived from the essence of the variables that are going to be used
in this study. Gross domestic product, foreign direct investment, exports, imports, energy use, and
urban population relates with economic development. On the other hand, carbon dioxide emissions
in this study, relates to environmental sustainability. Given these two, the study will give the reader
insights, more or less, on how the Philippine population treats economic development along side
environmental sustainability. Through the individual effects of the independent variables, we can
infer not only about what those variables contribute to carbon dioxide emissions, but also see the
level of environmental awareness that the population injects while inspiring development in the
country.
With the completion of the paper, we are bringing in practicality and the picture of reality that the
Philippine economy and its society is

So in different types of situation we will get different types of return depending on which type of investment it is and what the economic situation is at the time (www.xpresstrade.com). Portfolio Management: By selecting securities that have little relationship with each other, an investor is able to reduce relevant risk. Ideally, one would combine their securities in a way that will reduce relevant risk, such as diversification, to optimally manage their portfolio. The decision to invest excess cash in marketable securities involves not only the amount to invest but also the type of securities to invest. To some extent, the two decisions are interdependent. Both should be based on an evaluation of expected net cash flows and the uncertainty associated with these cash flows. In future cash flow patterns are known with reasonable certainty and the yield curve is upward sloping in the sense of long term securities yielding more than shorter term ones, a company may wish to arrange its portfolio so that securities will mature approximately when the funds will be needed. Such a cash flow pattern gives the firm a great deal of flexibility in maximizing the average return on the entire portfolio, for it is unlikely that significant amounts of securities will have to be sold unexpectedly. Controlling the risk The simple and timeless definition of risk is the chance of suffering a loss. Portfolio management is largely about managing risk. All ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Comparison Of Marvel Studios And Jurassic World In an unusual turn of events, in the normally cut throat world of movie production, Marvel Studios has congratulated Jurassic World on replacing the 2012 Avengers movie as the box office king. Not content to just issue a press release acknowledging that the Avengers film had been replaced by the wildly profitable Jurassic World, Marvel Studios has had a special piece of art made up just for the occasion. Marvel Studios created an image of the main character from Jurassic World riding a T Rex while the assembled characters from the Avengersfilm looked on in surprise. At the top of the image Marvel had placed Thor s hammer in the hands of the T Rex, to signify the passing of the torch, or hammer in this case, from Marvel Studios Avengers ... Church History, Or Contemporary Experience Of The Other... strained in its correspondence to the Bible (1 Cor 12:30), church history, or contemporary experience of the various collection of Christ. Dunning s representation of a quiet man who came to faith in his service was extremely convincing too. Could this man who couldn t talk get the Pentecostal submersion of the Holy Spiritas prove by tongues as characterized by Horton? This point was well taken. General I was empowered by the evangelist endeavors of the Pentecostals, the stories of the work of the Spirit in the lives of individuals in different customs, and their strong observer for Christ. Nevertheless, I was altogether unconvinced by the convention of subsequence confirm at first and solely by talking in tongues. Pentecostals believes that receiving of Holy Spirit is only done by looking up to Jesus. Sometimes it happens without even seeking the experience as it happened in the romans at the Cornelius house. I agree with what Horton says about receiving the Holy Spirit as growing up in India I have seen a lot of people receive the gifts faster than usual. But I am glad that Horton recognizes when he says, All the gifts of God is by grace through faith, and that faith included obedience, must be based on God s written word, and must be faith in God. We need to ask than we will receive as the word says that. Even in bible we will see people were waiting and asking in expectation as they have heard John the baptism proclaim that right now they are being baptized by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Similarities Between The Inner And Outer Planets Our solar system consists of one star and some debris, said Carl Sagan. There are many differences and similarities between the Inner and Outer planets. Our solar system is comprised of the Sun being in the middle, then followed by planets rotating it. The planets which orbit the Sun are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter , Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The Inner planets are very different from Outer planets and the Outer planets are completely different from Inner planets, but both are very similar in many ways. Our planets in the solar systemhave many similarities and differences. First of all, Inner planets are different from Outer planets in many ways. The surface of Inner planets compared to Outer planets are rocky, Inner planets are denser, all the Inner planets are in the asteroid belt. The Cosmos is all that is or was or ever will be. Our feeblest contemplations of the Cosmos stir us there is a tingling in the spine, a catch in the voice, a faint sensation as if a distant memory, of falling from a height. We know we are approaching the greatest of mysteries. Carl Sagan. There is nothing more than what there is. The surface of the Inner planets is very different from those of the Outer planets because, Earth compared to Uranus is completely different due to Uranus being mostly made out of gas. The Inner planets are also much denser than Outer planets. For example, Venus average density is 5.24g/cm3 as opposed to Neptune which is 1.33g/cm3. Lastly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Jake Barnes In The Sun Also Rises In the final chapter of The Sun Also Rises, we see Jake Barnes emotionally destroyed from the events of the prior festival. Jake reverts from taking an active role in the story to one of passivity. When he arrives in San Sebastian, the majority of description is merely observation. Jake watches the beachgoers and cycling team; he also swims alone. Jake shows no desire to interact with anyone else in the city. While his aloofness seems misanthropic, Jake actually seeks absolution from the sins he committed in Pamplona. During the festival, Jake endures numerous blows to his pride and sensibilities. Cohn affronts Jake s masculinity after knocking him out. The result is the same when Brett asks to be pimped out to Romero. After the introduction, Montoya and his bullfighting friends excommunicate Jake from their community for such a blatant act of desecration... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He goes from thinking about Brett nearly all the time preceding the fiesta to only thinking about her when necessary. While swimming in San Sebastian, Jake observes a couple laughing in the water (239). However, in the thoughts Jake expresses after responding to Brett s letter, he finally understands Cohn s reasoning for calling him a damned pimp (193). Jake realization that he fits the insult begins in the passage when he remarks, Send a girl off with one man. Introduce her to another to go off with him. Now go and bring her back, (243). This realization prompts Jake s standoffishness in the car on the last page. When Brett tries to be idealistic he shrugs it off simply commenting, Isn t pretty to think so? (250). I was sitting in Study Hall then I overheard a conversation between a student and teacher regarding this program called Futures Lab, which is a program to guide students into college. This conversation inspired me to leave Study Hall; to check out Futures Lab so I d started searching Special Needs Colleges which gave me a surplus of colleges to look from such as Landmark, Mitchell and Beacon Colleges. The first website that intrigued me was Mitchell College; which was first on my top choices of schools as it provided train transportation and my major, which is Television Communications. One of two things that I did was, doing a virtual tour of campus as that s when my excitement was out of control since Mitchell was the college that was a perfect fit at that certain time. • 11. The Role Of Protein And Carbohydrate Utilisation During... Introduction Post exercise nutrition, especially protein, plays an important role of the training regimen amongst athletic population. Post exercise nutrition is used to improve performance and enhance the body s recovery process following exercise. This review will focus on the role of protein and carbohydrate utilisation post exercise and there effects on protein synthesis. Anabolic and catabolic processes are controlled by the neuroendocrine system in response to training. Resistance training produces a catabolic state, in which the muscle proteins are broken down. During recovery an anabolic state predominately takes over leading to muscle repair and growth (Plowman Smith, 2014). The macronutrient protein has grasped attention during the recovery phase of exercise. Protein plays multiple important roles throughout the entire body, regulating every chemical reaction and used in the structural tissue within the human body (Brown, Miller Eason, 2006). Supplementary protein offers three main common types of complete protein; whey, casein and egg. These complete proteins differ in the role of recovery post exercise (Campbell Spano, 2011). The macronutrients protein and carbohydrates have their own functions within the body but work together to generate an anabolic state within the body when ingested post exercise (Poole, Wilborn, Taylor Kerksick, 2010). Not only would it be a challenge to communicate the new code of conduct out to each employee, but it was even more difficult for the company to enforce it. Because of the lack of understanding on how to deal with ethical dilemmas, managers and employees within the company did not complete proper risk assessment, leading to the worst oil spill in U.S. History. This would come to be known as the Deepwater Horizon spill. BP commonly outsources machinery and companies to complete certain tasks. They did in this case by hiring an oil rig ... Love Can Do Crazy Things Love and Honor Through the Ages Love can do crazy things to many individuals; making them crazy or mad, dying from a possible broken heart, or even killing themselves or someone else. During the Middle Ages, love was termed as chivalry or noble love, and then romantic love in the Nineteenth Century of Romanticism. I will discover and show how it changed during the periods of literature with the materials we have studied in this class. Let s start at the beginning it s a very good place to start. First and foremost, a knight was expected to act honorably in his presentation in battles and in his treatment of women. Common with the times in which this and the next story were written, the Middle Ages was the expression of chivalry. Depicted within these stories, the unwavering valor in the face of danger, loyalty to one s leader and companions, and an intense concern for personal honor (Lawall 1145) are shown multiple times over. Consequently, throughout the story, Arcite and Palamon faltered in their knightly code, much like the knights in the next story, Malory s The Knight of the Cart. One of these themes is the struggle to achieve one s dreams. Many characters in this novel each have their own American Dream, but something gets in the way that prevents them from fulfilling their dreams. The theme of not achieving one s dream is depicted throughout the novel by the green light, the Valley of Ashes, Gatsby s letter to Daisy, the broken clock, and the fruit rinds and dead flowers. Descriptive Analysis of Statistical Data Final Project: Statistics II Descriptive analysis of statistical data INTRODUCTION There have always been crimes, from a treachery to an assassination. Happens in every country you can think of, and every government has to deal with it. It is really stressful to try to understand the nature of the crimes: why are they done and where could they happen next. Out of this preoccupation is that we found studies gathering data from communities; we focused on one specific crime: murders. In several communities, it is thought that the murder rate is somehow related to several factors. For instance, it is common to hear that the murder rate depends on poverty and unemployment. Starting from this hypothesis, the database found to make this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now we are using the equation given at the partial F test. It is common that some times one of the independent variables (in this case, percentage of families with income below $5000 and percentage people unemployed) may be linearly related with another independent variable. In other words, there may be a pair of explanatory (independent) variables that measure the same thing or that they depend on each other, so it is recommended to drop one of them because having both causes instability in the model. This means that the equation wouldn t be as precise as it should. This issue is called multicollinearity. To prove if this is the case in our study, we calculated some numbers called correlation coefficients and variance inflation factors. Basically, the rule is that if one of the correlation coefficient between a pair of explanatory variables is higher than 0.9 there is evidence of multicollinearity. Another criteria is that if the variance inflation factor of each explanatory variable is higher than 10, there is a case of multicollinearity, as well. In our study, multicollinearity was not an issue. Another issue when having more than 1 independent variable as predictors is that the presence of one of them may affect the prediction capacity of the other. For being sure that this wasn t happening, we proceeded to perform a stepwise procedure. In this procedure one variable is entered to the equation at a time, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These dimensions were created based on simple problems that most societies have every day. The first dimension, power distance (PD), refers to hierarchy , to how inequality is approved by subordinates and superiors, how power is divided between societies and how people behave with authority. Hofstede divided this dimension in low which are societies with characteristics as inequality at the minimum level, everyone enjoy the same benefits, subordinates opinion is taken into account, managers should be democrat and high that includes societies that are autocrats superiors, centralized structure, dependent subordinates, hierarchy reflects difference, superiors have benefits. The second dimension is uncertainty avoidance, and it shows how people react when they feel threatened, societies that do not take risks or don t try new situations. This dimension is divided in low and the main characteristics are rules are not allowed, common sense, hard work is not a virtue, not structured activities. In the other side there re societies with the high uncertainty avoidance characterized for don t allow changes, established rules, just in necessary cases, experts have the better knowledge. If in the next year, their pay was ВЈ31,000, again the same calculation would be done and they would earn ВЈ516.67 of pension in that year. Many high school students have grown jaded with the modern education system, sitting for hours in a classroom almost every day having seemingly useless information crammed into their brains. At some point, the curiosity died and left behind the average student of today. Most people will agree that a change must occur within the way the youth receives an education; however, fewer people have touched on the concept that the students must change their mindsets as well. They must all look beyond the surface level education that teachers tend to focus on and understand what more they can gain. Throughout David Foster Wallaces speech This is Water, Wallace primarily employs didactic little parable ish stories along with hyperbolic examples to enforce the idea that the true benefits of education come from learning simple awareness rather than knowledge. Almost immediately, Wallace inserts the opening to the story that gives his speech a title, speaking about two young fish that eventually come across an an older fish who asks them the oddly perplexing question of how s the water? . He then goes on to explain that somehow, the fish do not understand the obvious fact that they live in the water, it surrounds them. Women s Rights Of Women Essay The gender gap has been a pressing issue throughout American history, as a myriad of women have expressed through outlets such as public assemblies, literature, and speeches. There have been three waves of the women s movement, each targeting a variety of issues within each era. The third wave was in 1995, where Hillary Clinton spoke in Beijing, China, claiming that women s rights were the same as human rights, that every aspiring girl deserved the civil liberties that every man was given around the world. Moreover, the movement had shifted towards women in developing nations and those in poverty around the world. In her speech, Clinton develops a political framework in which American ideals equate to basic human rights that can be accessible to individuals on an international level. Clinton discusses the violence that women experience globally: women s offspring is killed if the it is born female, and rape against women is considered a war prize or punishment. She insists that the female counterpart is necessary in developing the world: if the woman flourishes, then so will her family, and a result the nation will do well (American Rhetoric). Women are not only essential to mankind itself, but also to the family the basic unit of society. However, women are not given access to education, health care, jobs and credit, let alone a chance to cherish basic legal, human rights and have an active political life. The most common tracking method for file sharing is heading probing. Header probing involves an active engine on the network to take a look at the file headers for any files being transferred. Since most files are transmitted with the sole intention to load web pages and pictures, the engine is fixed to only focus on the headers of files over a certain size. The header is then scanned for suspected keywords that are often provided by a content provider. The content provider or associated content provider protection agency therefore will give a keyword such as a specific song title they can hunt for. If the scanner catches one of those keywords, an alert is given to the person in charge of monitoring the content. From the alert, they are able to track the user. The second most widely used tracking method is most commonly known as traffic logging. Traffic logging monitors the IP activity of every upload and download on a particular server. The strength of gravity is so strong due to the fact that an immense amount of matter has been contained in a small space. The existence of black holes was first theorized by John Mitchell in 1783. Mitchell accepted Newton s laws of gravity and suggested that light escaping from the surface of a star would have its speed reduced due to the gravitation pull of the star, and therefore if a star s gravitation pull was strong enough even light would not be able to escape.[1] Using the approximate speed of light he reasoned that if an object was approximately 500 times the mass of the sun light would not be able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As this matter spirals into the black hole it creates what is known as an accretion disk, which accelerates and heats up emitting X rays which can then be detected by astronomers.[6] Furthermore existence that black holes exist comes from the observations of astronomers of bursts of energy which are detected and then lost. An event horizon is an area of space around a black hole for which nothing can escape, once an object or any matter crosses this event horizon the gravity of the black hole will be too strong for it to escape. As a cloud of gas swirls and nears a black hole, the gases heat up and will emit x rays. Astronomers have observed instances of several burts of x rays being detected and then disappearing at areas where black holes are thought to be found. This may be caused by the gases emitting x rays and then crossing the event horizon and disappearing forever. The observations of these bursts of energy are useful for astronomers in finding black holes. These advertisements are found in a multitude of different places, including places such as billboards, newspapers, and on the television. Advertisements are most successful if they incorporate ethos, pathos, and logos into the message they are trying to present. Ethos is the credibility of an advertisement, pathosis the emotional appealof an advertisement, and logos is the logic found in the advertisement. This paper will show the similarities and differences in pathos, logos, and ethos found in two separate Budweiser advertisements. Ethos, pathos, and logos are all rhetorical appeals, meaning that they are used to assist the speaker or writer in harnessing rhetoric. Clark (2016) considers rhetoric as a tool meant for persuasion as well as for creating effective arguments. Rhetoric became extremely popular during the golden age of Greece, and most elite young men in Greek city states such as Athens were trained to utilize rhetoric to their fullest abilities (Clark, 2016). Plato, an ancient Greek philosopher, believed that rhetoricians those who used rhetoric to influence and sway opinions used rhetoric irresponsibly (Clark, 2016). Rhetoric certainly did not die out with the passing of time and is still found in today s modern era. Of these three appeals, pathos is the most prevalent in both advertisements. Global warming has always been correlated by the increasing amount of greenhouse gases, which carbon dioxideis notoriously known for, in the Earth s atmosphere. The Philippines is already starting to experience sudden extreme changes in its climate and natural disasters... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this objective, the author thinks that there is a need to empirically determine the impact of macroeconomic determinants on carbon dioxide emissions. Significance Oftentimes, human nature dictates us to spur the most from what we have, thus, it is natural for greed and tunnel vision for growth to be in the minds of many businessmen, policymakers, or any citizen in the population. However, in many cases, these men fail to recognise that more than monetary costs, many of human actions entail environmental repercussions. The significance of this study can be derived from the essence of the variables that are going to be used in this study. Gross domestic product, foreign direct investment, exports, imports, energy use, and urban population relates with economic development. On the other hand, carbon dioxide emissions in this study, relates to environmental sustainability. Given these two, the study will give the reader insights, more or less, on how the Philippine population treats economic development along side environmental sustainability. Through the individual effects of the independent variables, we can infer not only about what those variables contribute to carbon dioxide emissions, but also see the level of environmental awareness that the population injects while inspiring development in the country.
