Bob s Sense Of Masculinity And Power
I wonder what s the matter with me, myself. Everything I do or say seems wrong (166). Bob s
sense of masculinity and power is contested multiple times throughout the course of the novel. Bob
s masculinity is first challenged when he travels from Cleveland to California. Bob struggles with
the concept of being able to distinguish whether he is a powerless second class citizen or a strong
manwho can stand on his own in society. This is evident in the shipyard and the position that he
holds there. Instead, Bob is labored and controlled by a higher authority, known as the whites, and
of course they challenge his masculinitythrough social biases and wrongdoings of their time. One
major power defeats Bob faces in the novel is when his sexuality

Pauline Letters Essay
A universal theme seen throughout the writings and letters of Paul is justification by faith.
Justification by faith means that those who truly share a belief in God are saved by him. During the
biblical period, it was commonly thought that our pending salvation was dependent on our ability to
obey the laws given to the chosen people, those whom were believed to be chosen by God. Instead,
Paul argues that our righteousness is obtained through our faith in Jesus alone.
The book of Romans gives answers to questions everyone may ask to themselves, such as how to
obtain our salvation, the judgment of all people at the end of time, how to grow ... Show more

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to
last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. (Romans 1:16 17) This substantiates the
belief that you cannot repair your relationship with God solely through your good deeds; it is
instead accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ and all of His wondrous works.
One may question how man can be justified if we are all born into sin. Paul answers this question
in (Romans 3:21 31), stating that men can be justified in the God s eyes through their faith in
Jesus Christ. An observant reader of the Bible may take note of how many times Paul mentions
faith in this section. God did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be
just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:26) One can imagine the
Jewish reaction to this declaration since their beliefs stem only from Old Testament teachings and
justification was based on being a Jew, circumcision, and the Law of Moses; not through faith in
Jesus Christ. Paul anticipates their objection when he asks, Do we, then, nullify the law by this
faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law. (Romans 3:31) Here, Paul is concluding that it is
through our preaching that men are justified by their faith in Jesus Christ and are confirming the
law. The Law of Moses directed men to Jesus Christ because according to scripture, sin was
prevalent at the time. The

Star Wars Vs Star Trek
Star Trek and Star Wars have similar and different concepts, Throughout the years, two science
fiction classics have rivaled each other. Both have strong loyal fans that obsess over these classic
stories. Shirts, costumes, sheets, and action figures are only some of the merchandise sold of these
two films. Star Warsand Star Trek definitely share some similarities being both science fiction
movies. While the similarities are there, especially when many people confuse characters and
plot. Differences account for the awesomeness of each movie. If someone were to place a Star
Trek and a Star Wars fan in the same room, only one would come out alive(it would be the Star
Wars fan). This is because every fan knows that Star Wars and Star Trek are

There variety of different spaceships dwarfs the amount Star Trek has. Most of Star Treks ships
share the saucer head design while in Star Wars, ships designs and functions vary. What is cooler
than a lightsaber. A phaser? Try again. Star Treks weapons consist of phasers, Plasma cannons,
and lasers. Photon torpedoes will never be as exciting to watch as even the most serious
lightsaber duel is more entertaining. All of Star Treks weapons seem pretty dull and boring
(like there spaceships). But you now what s not boring? The (2nd)most destructive weapon ever
created. The planet killer. The Death Star. If you re wondering why I mentioned it as the second
it s because it is only behind StarKiller base. The name fits it s use, Starkiller base is capable of
using the power of a star to destroy multiple planets across a distance of what appears to be light
years. This is far and beyond the power of anything in the Federation fleet. That is scary. There s
no weapon like that in the universe of Star Trek. The lightsaber is an iconic weapon. None are
like it. Now the only thing cooler than a lightsaber is the one who wields it. Ask anyone you see
on the street what a Jedi is and I can almost guarantee you that they will know or will know that
it has to do with Star Wars. Star Wars has had such an impact on the world that there is even a
religion dedicated to the ways of the Jedi. Members span across the globe and it is growing rapidly.
The Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy. They dedicate their life to the Force . The force is
a mysterious energy that surrounds the entire universe. The Jedi are force sensitive which means
they have the ability to control this force giving them incredible abilities such as being able to
move any object or person, run at super speeds, Jump higher than everyone else, even shoot
lightning from their hands. I could go on forever on the abilities they can possess and go on

Hobbit s Accomplishments
Tolkien is most known for writing both The Hobbit, and later prequel The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Yet, Tolkien s work reaches much, much further including his works expanding his literary world
The Silmarillion. Although Tolkien has authored many other stories, none have received nearly as
much attention both at the time of publication and after the fact when released into major motion
films as The Lord of the Ringsseries including the Hobbit. Although Tolkien would receive many
awards throughout his writing career, the most prominent seem to have stemmed from recognition
generated by The Lord of the Rings films. The most prominent award for his works, received in
1957 was the International Fantasy Award for The Lord of the Rings.
Tolkien s worked tirelessly to build not a single linear story throughout his LOTR series, but to
build an entire world consisting of races, classes, ethnicity, language, cultures and depth to each of
these categories. Tolkien wanted his characters to have more than good plot development to them,
he wanted his characters to have depth and history that exceeded what was merely written on the
pages of his books. Tolkien s intended goal through all of these efforts was to get his readers, to
reimagine objects, concepts and characters through the lenses of an alternative ... Show more

Touching Spirit Bear Cole Matthews Character Traits
Cole Matthews Character Profile Final Copy
In the book Touching Spirit Bear, Cole Matthews is the main character. I have learned about
Cole in the book Touching Spirit Bear. I will provide facts and my own opinions about Cole s
attitude and his disposition. You will learn many things from my character profile about Cole.
Cole Matthews is a fifteen year old teenager from Minneapolis. He is a baby faced person with
dirty blonde hair, and he is considered big for his age. Cole is a generally rude person and he
doesn t care what other people think about him. For example, on page three in the book Touching

Also, he doesn t trust anyone who isn t afraid of him. For example, on page four, the book
clarifies, He didn t trust anyone who wasn t afraid of him. As you can see, Cole is not the nicest
person in the world. Cole Matthews has been in trouble with the law for half of his life. An
example from the text is (page five) ...who has been in trouble with the law half his life. Many
people in the story think that he should get tried as an adult and spend some time in jail so he
doesn t hurt anyone else. For example, on page forty six, Peter s lawyer says, That boy is
dangerous, she said. Next time he might kill someone. This Circle Justice has it s place, but I
oppose any plan that does not isolate Cole Matthews. Many characters in the book think that
Cole should have all the things that he s done to happen to him. In the book, Touching Spirit
Bear, on page fifty, Peter says, I think someone should smash Cole s head against a sidewalk so
he knows how it feels. In conclusion, Cole is not afraid to hurt people who aren t afraid of him.
Cole is not polite to anyone around him, even if they are a figure of importance. For example, on
page four Edwin says, Go put your clothes on inside out, he ordered. Get real, old man. Many
characters in the book Touching Spirit Bear view Cole as a nuisance and pain in the rear.
According to the text, on page twenty one Garvey states, I don t invest time in losers.

Has anyone ever advocated for you or anything you respect? Although Jackie Robinson, Melba
Patillo Beals, and Helen Keller advocated for different things, the three did make life changing
turning points to change their countries for the better. They all had one thing in common despite
their differences; perseverance. But what actions of perseverance did they commit to? For a long
time, only white people were in the major leagues. Until, however, Jackie Robinsondefied this and
made a change for the better. He was the first African Americanin America to be in the major
leagues of baseball, although many people did not agree with this. This is shown when we see
that white people had yelled insults and racial slurs at him during his games, It hadn t been that
easy to fight the resentment expressed by players on other teams, by the team owners, or by
bigoted fans screaming n . The man who helped him get to the major leagues team, The Brooklyn

Literature Review On Hbcus
LITERATURE REVIEW Background on HBCUs According to the National Center for
Educational Statistics (NCES), there are 101 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Title
III of the Higher Education Act of 1965 defines HBCUs as ...any historically Black college or
university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education
of Black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or
association determined by the Secretary [of Education] to be a reliable authority as to the quality
of training offered or is, according to such an agency or association, making reasonable progress
toward accreditation (US Department of Education, 2017). It is important to note that unlike other
Minority Serving Institutions, HBCUs, are only one of two types of institutions (Tribal Colleges
Universities or TCUs are the other) federally designated by law and therefore, cannot increase in
number with an act of Congress (Li, 2007). In other words, every time an HBCU closes its doors,
we get one step closer to the elimination of the historical and consequential institutions. To
understand the significance of these institutions one must understand the context in which these
institutions were established. In the most basic sense, HBCUs were established because of racism
(Evans, Evans, Evans, 2002). Prior to the Civil War, few universities espoused the mission and goal
of training and education Black people (Albritton, 2012).

Diabetic Neuropathy Essay
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is among the chronic microvascular complications of diabetes
mellitus due to hyperglycemia. Prevalence of diabetic neuropathy is high, affecting more than 60%
of diabetics (Boulton et al., 2005). The clinical manifestation of diabetic neuropathy include
numbness, tingling sensation in toes, feet, legs, arms, hands and fingers (Kumar et al.). It leads to
significant morbidity, impact on quality of life of patients (Zychowska et al.) and increases the risk
of infections leading to the foot ulcers and non traumatic amputations (Bansal et al.). In diabetic

It leads to the reduced coupling efficiency in mitochondria and increased superoxide radical
generation damaging both nuclear DNA and mitochondrial DNA leading to activation of poly ADP
ribose polymerase enzyme (PARP) (Fernyhough et al.Brownlee, 2001; Nishikawa et al., 2000b, to
be added). PARP activation leads to inactivation of AMPK which facilitates mitochondrial
biogenesis. Thus, PARP activation compromises the cellular mitochondrial genesis which leads to
accumulation of damaged mitochondria in the cell. Molecular studies have revealed the
involvement of transcriptional regulators such as Nrf2, NF ОєB, and COX 2 inflammatory cascade
in the pathology of diabetic neuropathy. The Nuclear factor 2 erythroid related factor (Nrf2) is a
redox transcription factor for the production of endogenous antioxidant defenses and detoxifying
enzymes. Nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of ОІ cells(NF ОєB) is a transcription factor,
involved in pro inflammatory cytokine production (Negi et al.). Both Nrf2 and NF ОєB regulation
are co ordinated in order to maintain redox homeostasis in healthy cells. However, during
pathological conditions this regulation is disturbed offering an opportunity for therapeutic
intervention. Diabetic neuropathy is a condition , in which change in expression pattern of Nrf2
and NF ОєB has been reported(Koriyama et

Reid Book Report
Throughout the book, Reid explores the very ideals and concepts of Confucianism and its relation
to the Japanese society in which he encounters. His encounters bring a greater understanding of the
Japanese culture and its relationship to the culture of more western nations. The book explains the
ideals of respect, responsibility, and familydynamics within the Japanese culture, and their effects
on Asian life. It is because of the traditions and values of Confucianism that the Japanese have
much lower crime rates than that of the United States, and many other western nations. The
lower crime rate is a direct result of the values and morals found within Confucianism. They have
a high ideal for respect and sympathy for others, as well as loyalty and wisdom. Though crime
may happen, it is considered rare in Japanese culture. Reid describes a time when his 10 year old
daughter was going to Disneyland with a friend by themselves and no parental supervision. He was
shocked with the response of the mothernot having any worry about the girls going by themselves.

There is a lower rate of breakdown in the family dynamic and much less single parents than here

powerful meaning, and once a couple is married they are often more likely to stay together. Thus
having a lower divorce rate. Although Japan has a higher rate of divorce than all of the East
Asian countries. The idea and reasoning most relationships do not end up in divorce is because
they take high responsibility in order to make the relationship work, and maintaining a stable

Judaism, Judaism And The Origin Of Judaism
Judaism Judaism originated a very long time ago, it is a part of the Bronze Age Polytheistic
Ancient Semitic religions. The Jewish calendar goes back more than 5000 years, most scholars
date the beginning of the religion of the Israelites to the known founder, Abraham, whose life is
generally dated around 2000 to 1800 B.C.E. Abraham came to believe that the universe was the
works of a single creator, and taught this to other believers. Therefore, Judaismis the first recorded
religion to advocate monotheism, meaning there is only one God. Both Christianity and Islam
found some of their roots in Judaism, about 2,000 years after Abraham, Jesus was born into
Judaism. Then after Jesus, Muhammad could trace his ancestry back to Abraham. Judaism has
three essential parts the written Torah, the recognition of Israel, which are the descendants of
Abraham, as uniquely holy people chosen by God, and also it is a requirement that Israel lives
in accordance with God s laws as it s said in the Torah. Judaism is an ethnic religion, this means
that it appeals mainly to one group of people living in one place. Roughly two fifths of the world
s 14 million Jews live in the United States and the other two fifths live in Israel. The way Judaism
is distributed is different than other ethnic religions because it is practiced in countries other then
its place of origin. Around 70 A.D. the Romans forced the Jews to disperse all over the world, an
action known as diaspora. Some other

Biography of Wyatt Earp Essay
Biography of Wyatt Earp
Wyatt Earp, born Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, was born on March 19, 1848 in
Manmouth, Illinois to Nicholas and Virginia Earp. When Wyatt was two, his parents moved him
across the Mississippi River to Pella, Iowa. He was considered a great western lawman. His first
experience as a lawman was as a constable of Lamar, Missouri for four months in the year 1870.
In April, 1875, he was appointed to the Wichita Kansas police force only to be released from that
job on April 2, 1876 for insubordination. After that, Wyatt moved to Dodge City, Kansas where he
served as a police man three separate times. The first time he served from May 17 until September

A very historical event occurred soon after Wyatt took the detective job with
Wells, Fargo Company; the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This event is very controversial even
today. According to the name of the event, the shutout occurred in the back entrance of the O.K.
Corral. Yet, according to the research that I have done, the shootout actually occurred about half a
block over from the O.K. Corral in the side yard of ex mayor William A. Harwood and from there
it spread out into the middle of Fremont
Street. Of course, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral sounds much better than the
Gunfight in Harwood s Yard and Fremont Street so I guess someone decided to change it. O.K.
Corral has much more of a Western ring to it. Personally, I think the
Gunfight in Tombstone sounds pretty good, but there s no point trying to change it now.
Virgil, Wyatt s older brother, was Tombstone s city marshal at the time of the shootout.
He was also a deputy U.S. marshal. At the time of the gunfight, Wyatt considered himself a
saloonkeeper, since he had a piece of the gambling winnings at the Oriental
Saloon. This event included four of the Old West s best known law enforcers and also some of the
Old West s best known villains . The three Earp brothers; Virgil, Wyatt and
Morgan all participated in the gunfight with Doc Holliday at their side. John Doc

Sadest Poem Essay
Saddest Poem
Tow weeks ago one of my classmates has presented a poem from his culture, and I am sure that it
s a Latin culture. The poem is called Saddest Poem written by Pablo Neruda who is as I
understood one of the most famous Latinos poet. This poem was translated to English, even though
it didn t lose its original structure. No one can argue about the main idea of this poem that it s a
sad poem and we can clearly see that from the title. Neruda uses many of the poetry techniques to
complete a perfect picture ending with this poem. Sitting, metaphor, sounds, and imagery all were
the elements that leaded to this nice piece of literature.

Much Ado About Nothing Monologue
For our drama assignment we had to do a Shakespearen monologue and do a write up about it. I

played the character Beatrice. I didn t really enjoy this assignment as much because I felt very
overwhelmed during the acting part of this assessment and I feel I didn t do very well. With the
writing part of the assignment I feel like I struggled especially with the interpretation of what each
line meant of our monologue. Overall I feel like I didn t do very well at all on this assessment task.

Human Trafficking Is The Second Largest Form Of Organized...
Human Trafficking in Oklahoma
Individuals all over the world are at risk of being abducted and sold into some form of human
trafficking or forced prostitution. Worldwide, human trafficking is the second largest form of
organized crime. This is especially true in Oklahoma. Interstate Highways Forty, Thirty five, and
Forty four all three run through Oklahoma, stretching from coast to coast, and from Mexico to
Canada. These highways make Oklahoma an ideal crossroads for human trafficking. Because of
these highways, new cases of this epidemic emerge in Oklahoma every day. For example, in
June of 2015, five residents of Oklahoma City were indicted by a federal grand jury for
operating an escort service, providing underage females to men in exchange for money (Justice
News). Everyone is at risk of becoming a victim of human trafficking, especially females. I am
particularly concerned about this ever increasing trend for the safety of my wife and other
members of my family. There are steps, however, that we as Oklahomans can take to protect
ourselves, and those we care about to reduce this despicable crime. The first step we must take is to
increase public awareness of the problem. Like so many other problems, people assume that such a
tragedy could never happen to them. Second, Oklahoma State Legislature must increase the penalty
upon conviction of human trafficking. Finally, Oklahoma Legislature must prohibit gentleman s
clubs statewide. The society we live in views females as

Novice Investors Make The Same Exact Mistakes
As a real estate investor and advisor, I often see novice investors make the same exact mistakes.
As a result, I decided to create the following list to help novices understand what these common
mistakes are and how to avoid them. The good news is that all of these mistakes can be easily
corrected. The bad news is that any one of these mistakes will seriously limit your potential for
success. In my experience, these are the 9 most common mistakes I see novice real estateinvestors
make:
1) Not getting an education
Getting an education is a critical part of becoming a successful real estate investor. It s much
easier and less costly to educate yourself than to make mistakes in the real world. We are lucky
to live in a country full of educational opportunities for whichever endeavor we want to pursue.
Surprisingly though, not everyone takes the initiative to learn before they take action. This
exposes these people to costly (and sometimes career ending) mistakes that could have easily
been avoided. Some misguided people even complain that the books, courses, or seminars
promoted by real estate experts are too expensive. I guess that depends on where you stand. To
me, they seem cheap compared to what I know can be earned in this business. Perhaps to a
novice though, they may seem expensive. But as the saying goes, If you think education is
expensive, try ignorance. Think about it. Is a $500 course worth it if what you learn only makes
you $5,000 on a single wholesale deal?

James Dobbins
It is a known pillar of the political philosophy known as realism that might makes right , a tenet
that can be traced back to Thucydides retelling of the Peloponnesian War. At its core, the saying
conveys the notion that those with power can push their idea of right into fruition. However, as
our society begins and continues to hold those with power accountable for their actions, an
updated version of the maxim is required: might must do right. Those with power are compelled to
do right by the freshly discovered strength of the little guy , and consequences can include
international sanctions or even a loss of power, be it gradual or sudden. This ideological transition,

compared to the number in other countries, but those other countries tend to have a much smaller
population than Japan, lessening the need for a great number of troops. It would foolish to think
that sending the same number of troops for every occupation regardless of population is an

practices that maximize agribusiness profits at the expense of the environment, our communities,

States and have major impacts on not only those consuming the food but the environment as well.
Some hold the position that this method is inhumane and should not be allowed. However, others

food production, modern animal agriculture puts an incredible strain on natural resources like land,
water, and fossil fuel (Factory Farming). This is causing non reversible environmental damage such
as contaminating water supplies and producing mass amounts of exhaust due to production. These
practices are going unnoticed by both the government and the companies responsible. Laws and
regulations for the environment are not doing their job and need to be changed in order to save the
resources that future generations have a right to experience. The industry as a whole stand idly by
as they destroy the environment by the practices they perform. This puts a major strain on the fight
against environmental degradation by the lack of regard for conserving what is not the industries to
ruin. While the environment is currently having some major impacts, rural communities are being
equally affected. Some of the impacts that transpire from factory farming include an increase in
respiratory, neurobehavioral, and mental illness among the residents of communities next to factory
farms (Factory Farming). The mass amount production that is being done leads to exhaust fumes
being released into the environment. Another

Analyzing Psychological Disorders: Understanding Schizophrenia and Biopsychological Case
Studies of Anxiety and Drug Abuse
Let us discuss and dive into the study of a disease called schizophrenia. We will be taking a look at
its symptoms, its causes, the areas of the brain it affects, its neural basis, and the appropriate drug
therapies for the disease. Having an informed understanding of the disease and what it entails is
crucial to making sure patients that suffer from schizophrenia receive the proper treatment and
care from their psychiatrists. Afterwards, we will also be looking at a couple of case studies
involving anxiety and drug abuse. As for now, our focus will be on the terrible disease of
schizophrenia.
PART A:
We shall begin with a bit of its history, as well as what schizophrenia actually consists of. The
word schizophrenia is less than one hundred years old, and means the splitting of psychic
functions. It affects only about one percent of the world s population, however those it does affect
are comprised of all races and cultures, and socio economic factors have no effect on who
developments schizophrenia. It typically has an onset of late adolescence to early adulthood.

schizophrenia, that person has

Civic Democracy
By threatening to change the composition of the receiving nation in a more profound manner, large
scale immigration inevitably raises the question of collective self identification: Who are we? and
What defines us? Even within stable liberal democracies, it is difficult to obtain a consistent
answer to these questions, although the responses likely influence who is allowed to enter a nation
and how they are perceived. Kohn (1944), Smith (1981, 1983, 1990), Castles and Miller (1993), and
Shulman (2002) have developed a perspective that defines societies, including their anticipated
forms of national identity, in terms of similar historical backgrounds. Reflecting the content of these
shared characteristics, three basic forms of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Betz (1998: 8) argues that the electoral success of the radical right, anti immigrant parties reflects to
a large extent the psychological strain associated with uncertainties produced by large scale socio
economic and socio structural change. When negative economic and social trends appear at the
national level, some individuals respond by demanding more restrictive immigration policies
(McLaren 2003; Money 1997; Olzak 1992; Quillian 1995). National institutions often influence and
also are influenced by these negative reactions toward newcomers. Prominent opinion leaders, both
in the government and in the media, who oppose immigration and immigrants rights often condemn
immigrants for problems ranging from unemployment to waning public education. Their critics
often argue that while these social and economic problems may be real, placing the sole blame on
immigrants is a form of scapegoating. Although anti immigrant sentiments often coexist with
xenophobia, racism, and/or nativism, competition or the threat of economic competition can also
provoke negative attitudes towards immigrants (Bonacich 1972; Olzak 1992). This is often referred
to as ethnic competition theory. Some of the common economic rationales offered by individuals
and groups who oppose open borders and the immigrants who accompany them include job loss and
wage depression.

My First Trip To The Library
Where are we going? I asked my older sister Kenese as we walked down Chicago s busy streets. To
the library She explained but slowed her paced, and never let go of me and my brother s hand. This
was the first time in my five years of living, that I been to a place where so many books where held.
That same day, was the day when I received my first library card and checked out my first picture
bookabout a spooky witch riding around on her broom. Now every time when my elementary
school took a trip to our local library, I was astatic to pull out my new library card. After my first
trip to the library I began to notice how many books were laying around our house. Majority of
them belonged to my two older sisters. I can remember all the times I came into our apartment
from a long day of playing to find my sisters laying on the couch reading books. When I was
younger, that didn t mean much to me but it was when I wanted to be just like my sisters when I
took up reading. I began reading all the books out of our personal library, and checking out
books with my library card. I took reading up because of my surroundings and I thought it was a
norm for everybody in your household to read and occasionally watch Law Order SUV. By my
sister introducing me at a young age to reading for leisure, I took pride in it. Reading was a value
that was instilled in me and I never questioned why. Just like how Sherman Alexie explained in his

The Death Penalty Should Be An Option
When presented with a heinous crime, the question of whether the death penalty should be an
option has often sparked heated debates between left wing liberals and right wing conservatives.
Those on the left would most likely argue that capital punishment does not serve any beneficial
purpose in our society. In contrast, conservatives, provided that they have no religious motives to
oppose the death penalty, would likely argue that it is a necessary punishment for heinous crimes.
For thousands of years the death penalty has been used as the ultimate form of punishment for a
vast number of crimes and in even more numerous methods. Babylon s King Hammurabi identified
25 different crimes that justified the death penalty; the list did not however include murder. A
popular form of punishment during the colonial period in New England, over 222 crimes were
punishable by death. These numbers began to dwindle to zero once it was determined that capital
punishmentwas inhumane by the British government ( The history of capital punishment ). The
movement to abolish the death penalty has spread to many other countries around the world but has
yet to have a widespread effect in the United States. Still currently legal in the U.S. in 31 states, the
death penalty remains as a reminder of mankind s barbaric past (Facts about the Death Penalty).
Considering how well humans have developed intellectually and innovatively over the centuries,
capital punishment seems like an awfully

A framework of sustainable supply chain management: moving toward new theory
Craig R. Carter and Dale S. Rogers
University of Nevada, College of Business Administration, Reno, Nevada, USA
Abstract
Purpose The authors perform a large scale literature review and use conceptual theory building to
introduce the concept of sustainability to the п¬Ѓeld of supply chain management and demonstrate
the relationships among environmental, social, and economic performance within a supply chain
management context. Design/methodology/approach Conceptual theory building is used to

Unfortunately, a review of the literature will show that the term sustainability has been
inconsistently defined and applied in the extant research. This lack of an explicit consideration of
economic criteria in current models and definitions of LSR and PSR, and the failure to
consistently define sustainability and to apply the concepts of sustainability to the field of
supply chain management, lead to the following research questions: RQ1. How can the term
sustainability be defined and applied to supply chain management? RQ2. Is there a relationship
between the integration of the concepts of sustainability and supply chain management, and long
term economic success? More specifically, do firms which engage in sustainable supply chain
management (SSCM) practices attain higher economic performance than п¬Ѓrms which
concentrate solely on economic performance? The answers to these research questions will help to
clarify and begin to defuse the debate surrounding the relationship between environmental and
social performance on one hand, and economic performance on the other. As noted by Hoffman and
Bazerman (2005, p. 16):
The key to resolving this debate is the recognition that (social and environmental) behaviors are

Three Mile Island Accident Study
1.Introduction
Based on the NRC (1), the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant is a commercial nuclear plant
where has two nuclear reactors (TMI 1 and TMI 2). General Public Utilities Corporation built the
power plant and Metropolitan Edison Company ran and managed the plant. TMI 1 and TMI 2
reactors were pressurized water reactors; and their generated power were 802 MWe and 906
MWe respectively. TMI 2 had an accident on March 28, 1979, particularly, the reactor was melted
and radioactivity was released to the outside of plant. Fortunately, there was no detectable effects on
workers, public and surrounding environment due to radioactive release. However, the direct
economic losses cause by this accident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mechanical failure got the pilot operated relief valve stuck, meanwhile the relief valve status
showed in the control room was closed. Consequently, the coolant flowed out of reactor core
through valve; and the temperature of reactor core was rising.
Because the information provided by the system was inadequate, so that operators did not know
the water level. As a result, they assumed that the water level was high in the reactor core and did
not realize that the reactor was experiencing losing cooling water. The coolant pumps was switched
off to protect themselves from the acute vibration. Furthermore, operators cut down the supply of
emergency cooling to the reactor core. These series of action did not relieve the hazard, but made
reactor into the dangerous situation. As a result of these actions, the reactor core suffered with
overheating. Moreover, there was a crack on the zirconium cladding that was a cover for the
nuclear fuel pellets. It led to that the nuclear fuel pellets starting to melt and flow out from the
crack. Fortunately, the building where place the TMI 2 did not have any break, so it prevented
workers and surrounding from strong and direct radioactivity.
3 hours later than the feed water pumps stopping working, the operators just realized that the
reactor core had melted because of abnormal core temperature. Even though some operators did not
believe the temperature reported by the control system. After 15 hours 50 minutes from the fault

After The War Poem Analysis
All the arms we need are for hugging. Unknown. Writers have used their voices and opinions to
protest war and its effects of their own experiences of the war. Stephen Crane worked as a
journalist during the Spanish American war and published the poem War Is Kind to show how
people see the war, versus what the war was really like. Wilfred Owen wrote the poem Dulce et
Decorum Est, which means It is sweet and right to die for your country . Owen fought during
World War 1, where he also passed away. Tim O Brien served in the Vietnam War and wrote The
Things They Carried, to explain what the soldiers had to go through during this war by carrying
heavy materials and close friends deaths. Using his personal experiences and difficulties after
the war, author Kevin Powers wrote The Yellow Birds after he returned home from serving in
Iraq, explaining what goes through his mind after the war. Writers use imagery, irony, and
structure to protest war. First of all, in the poem, Dulce et Decorum Est, author Wilfred Owen
uses imagery to protest war. In lines 21 and 22, Owen states In all my dreams, before my
helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. This quotation illustrates the
image of someone dying during the war, and how corrupt it was on the author. After Owen states
this, he then goes on to explain what they did with the bodies after someone would die, stating
Behind the wagon that we flung him in, (Line 24), and If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
come gargling from the froth corrupted lungs, (Lines 27 28). By using these words, Owen
creates the horrifying image of someone dying, how horrific it was, and how it was an everyday
thing for the other soldiers to go through. In his book, The Yellow Birds, Kevin Powers uses
imagery to protest war by stating what it was like to killsomeone during the war and what it will
do to your mind. Lines 4 6 state, or for that matter killing men and shooting them in the back and
shooting them more times than necessary to actually kill them and it was like just trying to kill
everything you saw sometimes. This quotation explains how gory the war was and how soldiers
kept shooting even if they did not know what they were shooting at

Why Kids Should Be Able To Graduate In Three Years
Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone. That s a
student every 26 seconds or 7,000 a day. Students should be able to graduate in three years because
some kids want to go to college as early as possible, it would allow people to get better jobs at a
younger age, and it would cause less drop outs because they could finish it in less time and
graduate faster.
Students should be able to graduate in three years because a lot of kids want to go to college as early

Lady Macbeth s Vaulting Ambition
In the beginning of the tragic play Macbeth by William Shakespeare one sees that Macbeth and
Lady Macbeth are an ideal couple, but both suffer from a serious flaw ambition that destroys their

Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are an ideal couple in the beginning of the play. King Duncan favours
them, they have good friends and they have a happy marriage. Macbeth considers Lady Macbeth
his equal and one can see that when he addresses her as My dearest partner of greatness. He shares
all this thoughts and plans with her. But both have vaulting ambition which destroys their lives.
Firstly, the evil queen , the antagonist of Macbeth. Her vaulting ambitions drives her to call upon
the forces of darkness and asks to be filled ...from the crown to the toe, top full of direst cruelty.

The Characteristics Of Criminal Profiling
Criminal profiling is the analysis of a person s psychological and behavioral characteristics; in this
process they predict their capabilities in a certain sphere and identify a particular subgroup of
people. This has led us to analyze whether criminal profiling is a useful law enforcement tool or
not, but over the years many studies have shown the great success criminal profiling has produced.
The act of criminal profiling is where law enforcement agents look for a subgroup of people s
background to analyze what may happen next. In this process law enforcement agents look for the
possible antecedents the group of people may have. With this information they can figure out the
how they created the plan of the crime and where they were before they committed the act. Once
they re done with figuring out their background information they can move onto a more deep
explanation of the pattern which all the events occured. This process is called, the Geographic
Approach ; which is the process where they look for the location of the crime scene. While doing
this process the agents also look for the time the scene was made and while doing this the can
also look for more offenses to add to the crime. This means that while they research more deeply,
they can find more crimes to add in court for the subgroup of people they re trying to gain more
information from or even to see what illegal acts they committed during the crime scene.

The Between Russia And Brandenburg Prussia
L Г©tat, c est moi. I am the state, as quoted by Louis XIV. This is a great example of the meaning
of absolutism. The kingdoms of France, Russia and Brandenburg Prussia are ample evidence to
prove that absolutism worked and was a commonality compared to constitutionalism. This issue
then falls to whether the differences or the similarities of these kingdoms are more important in
European and World History. The following will provide an argument to support that the
similarities of the kingdoms should be more heavily stressed.
France was set up for absolute monarchy by King Henry IV. Henry s ambitions neutralized the clash
between Catholics and Protestants, in the Edict of Nantes. Before Henry s assassination, he had
created a financial surplus in the kingdom. Next in line for the throne was Louis XIII, Henry s son,
but he was too young to rule, so Cardinal Richelieu had control over the kingdom. He limited the
political privileges of the Huguenots and involved France in the Thirty Years War, and by doing
this he affirmed the royal power and engaged France more in European affairs.
After Richelieu s death, Louis XIII died and, his son, Louis XIV, who was five years old, inherited
the throne. When Louis turned 23 he stepped forward to claim the throne, believing that God had
given him the position of King of France. The Sun King, as Louis was called, surrounded himself
with the nobles to keep them from governing their districts as effectively and thus empowering
himself.

Opportunities
Travelodge should must make some party place and function rooms. More permanent workers

The changing rules and regulation of UKBA is making hard for more than half of workers in

Macbeth Is Evil
What defines a villain? Is it a person who whose actions has negatively affected society? Acted
immoral? Has done something that is scorned down upon by society? Or is it simply a person
who has done wrong in general? Many argue that a villain is Yes to all these questions but I
believe otherwise. I believe that a villain is not just someone who has done wrong, or acted
immorally, but someone who has done those things without reason. The more we think about it,
the more we see how unlikely these crimes apply to reality and how much they evade us from the
truth of the villain world. The character Macbeth in the tragedy of Macbeth and Jae Hee in The
Girl Who See Smells are two outstanding examples of the misconception of who a villain really...

Human Trafficking And Slavery
Human trafficking and slavery has been in existence across the globe for thousands of years.
Many forms of human trafficking and slavery is taking place in our world today. It is horrible and
no one should have to experience what those victims have gone through. Human Trafficking and
slavery should be stopped and laws should be enforced.
Slavery was banned worldwide more than a century ago. Unfortunately, thousands of people are
still victims each year. It is estimated that there is approximately 40.3 million people subjected to
slavery in the world currently. This includes 10 million children, 24.9 million people forced to
labor, 15.4 million forced to marriage lastly 4.8 million people forced in sexual exploation (
AntiSlavery ILO 2017). Slavery implies ownership states Susa Thatun a child protection specialist
at UNICEF (Human Trafficking and Slavery. Robert Kinur. 2012). That statement is correct.
Slavery comes in all forms. For instance, a person can be forced to work, through coercion or
mental and physical threat. Someone may be dehumanized and treated as a commodity or may be
sold as property and some may have restrictions placed on their freedom.
The most common form of Slavery is Debt Bondage. Debt Bondage is a form of slavery that holds
its victims in an endless cycle of debt and poverty. Extreme poverty often forces parents to offer
themselves or their own children as collateral against a loan. Though, they are promised they will

Evolution Of Moses Research Paper
The two key figures in Hebrew culture, God and Moses, evolve throughout the bible, but their
evolution is best seen in Exodus. The development of character is revealed when individuals are
placed in stressful situations, certainly in the bible both God and Moses are presented with
challenging situations which cause them to undergo change. However, because the book we are
reading is the bible, every action performed by a character and every change undergone is
representative of the ideal choice from the standpoint of the Hebrew culture. This means that every

However, because Moses is to become the leader of the Hebrew people, he is mentioned outside
exodus and his development is made clear through the Midrash, and much later in the bible in
Acts. One of the ways we see a definite change in Moses is shown in his humility. In Acts 7.25,
he believes that the Hebrews would see him as their savior after he killed the abusive taskmaster,
but that isn t the case. There is a huge change after 40 years of shepherding, when Moses is
asked by God to return to Egypt in Exodus 3.11, he responds Who am I that should go to
Pharaoh? showing that he has been humbled by his stay in a strange land. Another change that
occurs during this time, is Moses proving to God that he can be leader of God s chosen people.
This happens in the midrash of Exodus and referenced in Luke 15.4 6, and is the story of Moses
and the lost Sheep. The message presented is that if Moses would spend the whole day to go
after a lost sheep, what would he to find a lost member of his own flock . This change in Moses is
the reason why God allows him to return to Egypt and lead his

Being Greeted with Death s Sting
Everyday someone is greeted with the sting of death. Sometimes it occurs with or without
warning. Either way, the hearts of the loved ones left behind are broken with despair. I have sent
flowers and consoled love ones. But, I didn t fully understand death s sting until took my
beloved Mother and Friend from my family. She was the glue that held me and my siblings
together throughout our adult years. It was our ritual to speak before I started and ended my
day. My Mother encouraged me to continue on through my storms. During my deployments, I
could count on her prayers. My Mother knew what words to speak to soothe me and she could
build me up with her understanding. I loved that she never took sides when my siblings and I
would have disagreements. She would remind us the importance of family ties. As a child, I
could remember coming home broken because I felt like an outcast. The children were cruel to
me. I was the kid in the home made dress or the plaid pants with the penny loafers. You see, my
Mother was a single parent raising five children. We lived in low income housing and she
worked several jobs to provide the essentials. In our home there were no name brand clothing

Mother loved us all equally and made us feel as if we lived above poverty. We would always have

I have recently viewed the film The Hurricane , directed by Norman Jewison and starring Denzel
Washington as Rubin Hurricane Carter, the boxer jailed for crimes he did not commit. This
emotional drama is a fantastic watch, with Rubin and his friends battling for his freedom after
twenty years of unfair punishment. This film has been a hit all over the world and not only is it a
great watch worth every penny but it sends out messages about believing in yourself and never
giving up in what you believe. This action packed review will attempt to talk you through this
roller coaster of a story. Hold on tight!

Washington was the perfect choice for the role of Rubin Carter, putting forward a vision of a
strong willed and unfairly treated man whose life has been littered with injustices. His work as
Rubin Hurricane Carter is on a par with his work as Malcolm X . Washington relishes in his role
as the victimised boxer and puts his all into every scene, easily deserving his award for best
actor. The manner in which Washington plays Rubin Carter makes the audience instantly get
behind him in his fight for freedom simply the way in which he talks about his life in the jail
earns sympathy from the viewers which helps make this film such a hit. A clever addition into
the film by Jewison is the sub plot including a young boy named Lesra, played by Vicellous Reon
Shannon, who is offered schooling by three Canadians as they believe he has the potential to
become very clever if he is given the right guidance. After a few years of teaching he reads a
book written by Rubin Carter called The 16th Round his autobiography which completely
captivates Lesra, inspiring him to write to the boxer and over time they become good friends with
Lesra paying regular visits. The people Lesra is staying with are appalled when they hear about
Rubins case and decide to help him in his battle

Advantages Of Digital Dentistry
Digital Dentistry
Over the years, the field of dentistry has seen significant technological growth. One of these
advancements is digital dentistry.
Digital dentistry refers to dental technology that incorporates digital components as opposed to
mechanical or electrical components alone. These could include (but are not limited to):
Computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing and intraoral imaging
Computer aided implant dentistry
Digital radiography both intraoral and extraoral
Lasers
Caries diagnosis
Electrical and surgical handpieces
Occlusion and TMJ analysis and diagnosis
Photography both extraoral and intraoral
Digital patient education
Shade matching
Advantages of Digital Dentistry
The goal of digital dentistry is to ensure that dentistry services provided to patients are faster, better
and more comfortable. However, specifically speaking, there are three major advantages of digital
dentistry:
1.It improves the efficiency of dental services both in terms of cost and time.
2.It improves accuracy as compared to traditional methods.
3.It improves the level of patient outcome.
Adoption and Hurdles
While there is no doubt that digital dentistry has a lot to offer and is expected to continue to change
the face of dentistry in the years to come, the biggest limitation to its rapid adoption is cost.
Adopting the new technology, acquiring training in its use and implementation and offering the
services to patients can require significant

Shakespeare s Sonnets Of 14 Lines
Shakespeare s sonnets of 14 lines, are written in iambic pentameter, five metrical feet to a line,
each foot having one unstressed syllable followed by a stressed syllable, with three quatrains and
rhymed couplet scheme of abab cdcd efef gg. Often the beginning of the third quatrain marks the
line in which the mood turns, and the poet expresses a revelation or epiphany. Shakespeare in his
unique way, wrote Sonnet99 with fifteen lines, Sonnet 126 has six couplets and two blank lines
marked with italic brackets, Sonnet 145 is written in iambic tetrameters, and in Sonnet 29 the
normal rhyme schemeis changed by repeating the b in quatrain one in quatrain three, where the f
should be, differentiating them from the true Shakespearean sonnet.
Shakespeare s Sonnets are in motion, with different patterns, which differ radically from his
contemporaries at the time. In fact, his sonnets have great emotional depth, complexity, and human
perception. He borrowed diction and rhythms of ordinary speech from religion, law, courtship,
diplomacy, astronomy, and everyday life, turning them into expressions of his own unique linguistic
strategy. William used his half untold story using Renaissance themes of love, time, mutability, the
conflict of body and soul, passion and reason (Sonnets of Shakespeare). Shakespeare s
compositional strategies gives his speaker depth as a character; emotionally his moods are
conflicting and volatile, his mind has many compartments of discourse, he is a

Agriculture In Dakota
Chapter one Introduction Throughout history, land employed for agricultural production has
caused greater environmental change to the biosphere than any other land use (Gliessman, 2010).
Human societies since the beginning of time have probably committed more land to Agricultural
production than for any other purpose. Demand for land especially for Agricultural production in
many parts of the globe is on the increase. Studies have revealed that the rise in demand for food to
feed the world s teaming population, the increased demand for agricultural output to produce

Evidence suggests that renewable fuel use mandates put in place after the Energy Policy Act of
2005 coupled with strong emerging market demand for both energy and feedstock are at least
partly responsible (Enders and Holt 2012). Another set of relevant policy interventions is federal
crop insurance program. Since 1980 use of crop insurance has grown rapidly, accompanied by
increasingly generous subsidies that amounted to about $7 billion per year over 2005 2009

Abstract
This essay analyses the Samsung Mobile company by applying Porter s Five forces. Also each
factor will be compared with Apple and Nokia which are competitive companies in the mobile
industry and the strength of Samsung s strategic position will be demonstrated.
Introduction
Samsung Electronics, Apple and Nokia are the competitive mobile companies. To compare each

mobile phones; semiconductors and the operating systems (OS) which companies use will be
mainly discussed because these factors have an effect on the function of a mobile phone. Therefore

The power of suppliers
Samsung, Apple, and Nokia use a variety of suppliers for mobile components (Husso, 2011). As
some mobile components of Samsung Electronics are provided by their subsidiary company, it
seems that they have low power of supplier. Also, the subsidiary company which is Samsung
Semiconductor was ranked second in the number of sales throughout the world in 2012(Leachman
et al, 2002). This means that their semiconductors could be delivered for a low price in high
quality. The most interesting factor is that Apple and Nokia chose the Samsung Semiconductor for
their supplier (Leachman et al, 2002). Therefore Samsung Semiconductor could reduce the fixed
cost as they produce large amounts of semiconductors to provide to two large companies.
In the case of Operating System, except for Samsung, Apple and Nokia use their own company s
OS which is iOS and Symbian respectively. In the OS market, Android accounts for over 50%
market share which means they provide OS to many mobile companies (Fernandez,2009).
Therefore Samsung which uses Android OS has high level of power of Operating System

Effects Of The Civil War On Nepal
Effects of the Civil War on Nepal Nepal is considered one of the poorest countries in the world. It
suffers in many aspects due to its immense state of poverty and political violence. The civil war
in Nepal, stimulated by the Communist Party against the Nepalese State, stretched over the
course of 10 years lasting from 1996 to 2006. This war, also known as the Peoples War , was
launched because the Communist Party believed that there was an insufficiency in ensuring
freedom, justice and welfare by the Nepalese State (Panday 67). Numerous casualties became a
result of this war. Insight on Conflict states that, The conflict claimed the lives of 17,000 people,
displaced an estimated 100,000 more, and brought about the end of a 240 year old monarchy. (

including a decline in medical care, increased risk for doctors, a decrease in tourism, poor living
conditions for children, and many political struggles. The civil war in Nepal has had a very
negative impact on the quality of medical care for the civilians, and also tourists. It is said that
during this time the Maoist s destroyed 40 health posts from 2002 to 2004, and many others were

So many, that it would be impossible to list them all here. Therefore, I will be taking those that

personalities. Note that not all the same types of gems act the exact same way I m simply listing
the stereotypical personalities we have seen from a portion of the same gem population:
Amethysts These Quartz soldiers are a riot. Abused by their superiors, their alliance will always

Closely Watching Milos
Closely Watched Trains was directed by JiЕ™ГMenzel in Czechoslovakia in 1966. Telling the
story of a boy who obtains a job at the local railroad stop as a station guard, the movie shows the
experience of Milos as he explores sexuality and growing up.The film shows Milos before he gains
his manhood as weak, unintelligent, and isolated from the other men. Using techniques such as
cross cutting and low angles, the director is able to show how after losing his virginity, Milos is no
longer foolish and innocent and his newfound manhood causes him to have the qualities that
parallel what is respected by the Soviet community, such as intelligence and confidence allowing
him to blow up a Nazi trainand become a hero. Throughout the majority of the film, Milos is
depicted as a simple, fragile teen. The film opens with a scene in which his mother is dressing
his for his first day of work. The director pans from his feet to his head, ending with a close up
shot so we can see the entirety of Milos and his nerves on his face as he heads into work. When
he gets to work and sits at a desk, the filmmaker uses jump cuts to show different actions going on
around the room and then cuts to Milos looking around. This shows the audience how Milos is
innocent and daydreaming as opposed to doing the work he should be doing. He seems childlike
and foolish as he can not maintain focus on his work. As the film progresses, the director employs
cross cutting many times which shows Milos

  • 2. Bob s Sense Of Masculinity And Power I wonder what s the matter with me, myself. Everything I do or say seems wrong (166). Bob s sense of masculinity and power is contested multiple times throughout the course of the novel. Bob s masculinity is first challenged when he travels from Cleveland to California. Bob struggles with the concept of being able to distinguish whether he is a powerless second class citizen or a strong manwho can stand on his own in society. This is evident in the shipyard and the position that he holds there. Instead, Bob is labored and controlled by a higher authority, known as the whites, and of course they challenge his masculinitythrough social biases and wrongdoings of their time. One major power defeats Bob faces in the novel is when his sexuality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Religion 204a Joseph Fiore Religion 204A Christian Scriptures Dr. Jennifer Kaalund Pauline Letters Essay A universal theme seen throughout the writings and letters of Paul is justification by faith. Justification by faith means that those who truly share a belief in God are saved by him. During the biblical period, it was commonly thought that our pending salvation was dependent on our ability to obey the laws given to the chosen people, those whom were believed to be chosen by God. Instead, Paul argues that our righteousness is obtained through our faith in Jesus alone. The book of Romans gives answers to questions everyone may ask to themselves, such as how to obtain our salvation, the judgment of all people at the end of time, how to grow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. (Romans 1:16 17) This substantiates the belief that you cannot repair your relationship with God solely through your good deeds; it is instead accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ and all of His wondrous works. One may question how man can be justified if we are all born into sin. Paul answers this question in (Romans 3:21 31), stating that men can be justified in the God s eyes through their faith in Jesus Christ. An observant reader of the Bible may take note of how many times Paul mentions faith in this section. God did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:26) One can imagine the Jewish reaction to this declaration since their beliefs stem only from Old Testament teachings and justification was based on being a Jew, circumcision, and the Law of Moses; not through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul anticipates their objection when he asks, Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law. (Romans 3:31) Here, Paul is concluding that it is through our preaching that men are justified by their faith in Jesus Christ and are confirming the law. The Law of Moses directed men to Jesus Christ because according to scripture, sin was prevalent at the time. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Star Wars Vs Star Trek Star Trek and Star Wars have similar and different concepts, Throughout the years, two science fiction classics have rivaled each other. Both have strong loyal fans that obsess over these classic stories. Shirts, costumes, sheets, and action figures are only some of the merchandise sold of these two films. Star Warsand Star Trek definitely share some similarities being both science fiction movies. While the similarities are there, especially when many people confuse characters and plot. Differences account for the awesomeness of each movie. If someone were to place a Star Trek and a Star Wars fan in the same room, only one would come out alive(it would be the Star Wars fan). Most of Star Treks ships share the saucer head design while in Star Wars, ships designs and functions vary. What is cooler than a lightsaber. A phaser? Try again. Star Treks weapons consist of phasers, Plasma cannons, and lasers. Photon torpedoes will never be as exciting to watch as even the most serious lightsaber duel is more entertaining. All of Star Treks weapons seem pretty dull and boring (like there spaceships). But you now what s not boring? The (2nd)most destructive weapon ever created. The planet killer. The Death Star. If you re wondering why I mentioned it as the second it s because it is only behind StarKiller base. The name fits it s use, Starkiller base is capable of using the power of a star to destroy multiple planets across a distance of what appears to be light years. This is far and beyond the power of anything in the Federation fleet. That is scary. There s no weapon like that in the universe of Star Trek. The lightsaber is an iconic weapon. None are like it. Now the only thing cooler than a lightsaber is the one who wields it. Ask anyone you see on the street what a Jedi is and I can almost guarantee you that they will know or will know that it has to do with Star Wars. Star Wars has had such an impact on the world that there is even a religion dedicated to the ways of the Jedi. Members span across the globe and it is growing rapidly. The Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy. They dedicate their life to the Force . The force is a mysterious energy that surrounds the entire universe. The Jedi are force sensitive which means they have the ability to control this force giving them incredible abilities such as being able to move any object or person, run at super speeds, Jump higher than everyone else, even shoot lightning from their hands. • 5. Hobbit s Accomplishments Tolkien is most known for writing both The Hobbit, and later prequel The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Yet, Tolkien s work reaches much, much further including his works expanding his literary world The Silmarillion. Although Tolkien has authored many other stories, none have received nearly as much attention both at the time of publication and after the fact when released into major motion films as The Lord of the Ringsseries including the Hobbit. Although Tolkien would receive many awards throughout his writing career, the most prominent seem to have stemmed from recognition generated by The Lord of the Rings films. The most prominent award for his works, received in 1957 was the International Fantasy Award for The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien s worked tirelessly to build not a single linear story throughout his LOTR series, but to build an entire world consisting of races, classes, ethnicity, language, cultures and depth to each of these categories. Tolkien wanted his characters to have more than good plot development to them, he wanted his characters to have depth and history that exceeded what was merely written on the pages of his books. Tolkien s intended goal through all of these efforts was to get his readers, to reimagine objects, concepts and characters through the lenses of an alternative ... For example, on page forty six, Peter s lawyer says, That boy is dangerous, she said. Next time he might kill someone. This Circle Justice has it s place, but I oppose any plan that does not isolate Cole Matthews. Many characters in the book think that Cole should have all the things that he s done to happen to him. In the book, Touching Spirit Bear, on page fifty, Peter says, I think someone should smash Cole s head against a sidewalk so he knows how it feels. In conclusion, Cole is not afraid to hurt people who aren t afraid of him. Cole is not polite to anyone around him, even if they are a figure of importance. • 10. Literature Review On Hbcus LITERATURE REVIEW Background on HBCUs According to the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES), there are 101 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Title III of the Higher Education Act of 1965 defines HBCUs as ...any historically Black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of Black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association determined by the Secretary [of Education] to be a reliable authority as to the quality of training offered or is, according to such an agency or association, making reasonable progress toward accreditation (US Department of Education, 2017). It is important to note that unlike other Minority Serving Institutions, HBCUs, are only one of two types of institutions (Tribal Colleges Universities or TCUs are the other) federally designated by law and therefore, cannot increase in number with an act of Congress (Li, 2007). In other words, every time an HBCU closes its doors, we get one step closer to the elimination of the historical and consequential institutions. To understand the significance of these institutions one must understand the context in which these institutions were established. In the most basic sense, HBCUs were established because of racism (Evans, Evans, Evans, 2002). Prior to the Civil War, few universities espoused the mission and goal of training and education Black people (Albritton, 2012). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

PARP activation leads to inactivation of AMPK which facilitates mitochondrial biogenesis. Thus, PARP activation compromises the cellular mitochondrial genesis which leads to accumulation of damaged mitochondria in the cell. Molecular studies have revealed the involvement of transcriptional regulators such as Nrf2, NF ОєB, and COX 2 inflammatory cascade in the pathology of diabetic neuropathy. The Nuclear factor 2 erythroid related factor (Nrf2) is a redox transcription factor for the production of endogenous antioxidant defenses and detoxifying enzymes. • 12. Reid Book Report Throughout the book, Reid explores the very ideals and concepts of Confucianism and its relation to the Japanese society in which he encounters. His encounters bring a greater understanding of the Japanese culture and its relationship to the culture of more western nations. The book explains the ideals of respect, responsibility, and familydynamics within the Japanese culture, and their effects on Asian life. It is because of the traditions and values of Confucianism that the Japanese have much lower crime rates than that of the United States, and many other western nations. The lower crime rate is a direct result of the values and morals found within Confucianism. They have a high ideal for respect and sympathy for others, as well as loyalty and wisdom. Though crime may happen, it is considered rare in Japanese culture. Reid describes a time when his 10 year old daughter was going to Disneyland with a friend by themselves and no parental supervision. He was shocked with the response of the mothernot having any worry about the girls going by themselves. • 13. Judaism, Judaism And The Origin Of Judaism Judaism Judaism originated a very long time ago, it is a part of the Bronze Age Polytheistic Ancient Semitic religions. The Jewish calendar goes back more than 5000 years, most scholars date the beginning of the religion of the Israelites to the known founder, Abraham, whose life is generally dated around 2000 to 1800 B.C.E. Abraham came to believe that the universe was the works of a single creator, and taught this to other believers. Therefore, Judaismis the first recorded religion to advocate monotheism, meaning there is only one God. Both Christianity and Islam found some of their roots in Judaism, about 2,000 years after Abraham, Jesus was born into Judaism. Then after Jesus, Muhammad could trace his ancestry back to Abraham. Judaism has three essential parts the written Torah, the recognition of Israel, which are the descendants of Abraham, as uniquely holy people chosen by God, and also it is a requirement that Israel lives in accordance with God s laws as it s said in the Torah. Judaism is an ethnic religion, this means that it appeals mainly to one group of people living in one place. Roughly two fifths of the world s 14 million Jews live in the United States and the other two fifths live in Israel. The way Judaism is distributed is different than other ethnic religions because it is practiced in countries other then its place of origin. Around 70 A.D. the Romans forced the Jews to disperse all over the world, an action known as diaspora. Some other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His first experience as a lawman was as a constable of Lamar, Missouri for four months in the year 1870. In April, 1875, he was appointed to the Wichita Kansas police force only to be released from that job on April 2, 1876 for insubordination. A very historical event occurred soon after Wyatt took the detective job with Wells, Fargo Company; the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This event is very controversial even today. Yet, according to the research that I have done, the shootout actually occurred about half a block over from the O.K. Corral in the side yard of ex mayor William A. Harwood and from there it spread out into the middle of Fremont Street. Of course, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral sounds much better than the Gunfight in Harwood s Yard and Fremont Street so I guess someone decided to change it. O.K. Corral has much more of a Western ring to it. Personally, I think the Gunfight in Tombstone sounds pretty good, but there s no point trying to change it now. Virgil, Wyatt s older brother, was Tombstone s city marshal at the time of the shootout. He was also a deputy U.S. marshal. At the time of the gunfight, Wyatt considered himself a saloonkeeper, since he had a piece of the gambling winnings at the Oriental Saloon. This event included four of the Old West s best known law enforcers and also some of the Old West s best known villains . Human Trafficking in Oklahoma Individuals all over the world are at risk of being abducted and sold into some form of human trafficking or forced prostitution. Worldwide, human trafficking is the second largest form of organized crime. This is especially true in Oklahoma. Interstate Highways Forty, Thirty five, and Forty four all three run through Oklahoma, stretching from coast to coast, and from Mexico to Canada. These highways make Oklahoma an ideal crossroads for human trafficking. Because of these highways, new cases of this epidemic emerge in Oklahoma every day. For example, in June of 2015, five residents of Oklahoma City were indicted by a federal grand jury for operating an escort service, providing underage females to men in exchange for money (Justice News). Everyone is at risk of becoming a victim of human trafficking, especially females. I am particularly concerned about this ever increasing trend for the safety of my wife and other members of my family. There are steps, however, that we as Oklahomans can take to protect ourselves, and those we care about to reduce this despicable crime. The first step we must take is to increase public awareness of the problem. Like so many other problems, people assume that such a tragedy could never happen to them. Second, Oklahoma State Legislature must increase the penalty upon conviction of human trafficking. Finally, Oklahoma Legislature must prohibit gentleman s clubs statewide. The society we live in views females as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Novice Investors Make The Same Exact Mistakes As a real estate investor and advisor, I often see novice investors make the same exact mistakes. As a result, I decided to create the following list to help novices understand what these common mistakes are and how to avoid them. The good news is that all of these mistakes can be easily corrected. The bad news is that any one of these mistakes will seriously limit your potential for success. In my experience, these are the 9 most common mistakes I see novice real estateinvestors make: 1) Not getting an education Getting an education is a critical part of becoming a successful real estate investor. It s much easier and less costly to educate yourself than to make mistakes in the real world. We are lucky to live in a country full of educational opportunities for whichever endeavor we want to pursue. Surprisingly though, not everyone takes the initiative to learn before they take action. This exposes these people to costly (and sometimes career ending) mistakes that could have easily been avoided. Some misguided people even complain that the books, courses, or seminars promoted by real estate experts are too expensive. I guess that depends on where you stand. To me, they seem cheap compared to what I know can be earned in this business. Perhaps to a novice though, they may seem expensive. But as the saying goes, If you think education is expensive, try ignorance. Think about it. Is a $500 course worth it if what you learn only makes you $5,000 on a single wholesale deal? ... At its core, the saying conveys the notion that those with power can push their idea of right into fruition. However, as our society begins and continues to hold those with power accountable for their actions, an updated version of the maxim is required: might must do right. Those with power are compelled to do right by the freshly discovered strength of the little guy , and consequences can include international sanctions or even a loss of power, be it gradual or sudden. Factory farming is the process of employing abusive practices that maximize agribusiness profits at the expense of the environment, our communities, animal welfare, and even our health (Factory Farming). These methods are used across the United States and have major impacts on not only those consuming the food but the environment as well. Some hold the position that this method is inhumane and should not be allowed. However, others argue that this process creates economically cheap food and allows food to be produced at a faster rate. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While animal cruelty is the largest issue that arises from factory farming, there are also many other problems that stem from this type of production such as environmental impacts. With this type of food production, modern animal agriculture puts an incredible strain on natural resources like land, water, and fossil fuel (Factory Farming). This is causing non reversible environmental damage such as contaminating water supplies and producing mass amounts of exhaust due to production. These practices are going unnoticed by both the government and the companies responsible. Laws and regulations for the environment are not doing their job and need to be changed in order to save the resources that future generations have a right to experience. The industry as a whole stand idly by as they destroy the environment by the practices they perform. This puts a major strain on the fight against environmental degradation by the lack of regard for conserving what is not the industries to ruin. While the environment is currently having some major impacts, rural communities are being equally affected. Some of the impacts that transpire from factory farming include an increase in respiratory, neurobehavioral, and mental illness among the residents of communities next to factory farms (Factory Farming). We will be taking a look at its symptoms, its causes, the areas of the brain it affects, its neural basis, and the appropriate drug therapies for the disease. Having an informed understanding of the disease and what it entails is crucial to making sure patients that suffer from schizophrenia receive the proper treatment and care from their psychiatrists. Afterwards, we will also be looking at a couple of case studies involving anxiety and drug abuse. As for now, our focus will be on the terrible disease of schizophrenia. Even within stable liberal democracies, it is difficult to obtain a consistent answer to these questions, although the responses likely influence who is allowed to enter a nation and how they are perceived. Kohn (1944), Smith (1981, 1983, 1990), Castles and Miller (1993), and Shulman (2002) have developed a perspective that defines societies, including their anticipated forms of national identity, in terms of similar historical backgrounds. The Death Penalty Should Be An Option When presented with a heinous crime, the question of whether the death penalty should be an option has often sparked heated debates between left wing liberals and right wing conservatives. Those on the left would most likely argue that capital punishment does not serve any beneficial purpose in our society. In contrast, conservatives, provided that they have no religious motives to oppose the death penalty, would likely argue that it is a necessary punishment for heinous crimes. For thousands of years the death penalty has been used as the ultimate form of punishment for a vast number of crimes and in even more numerous methods. Babylon s King Hammurabi identified 25 different crimes that justified the death penalty; the list did not however include murder. A popular form of punishment during the colonial period in New England, over 222 crimes were punishable by death. These numbers began to dwindle to zero once it was determined that capital punishmentwas inhumane by the British government ( The history of capital punishment ). The movement to abolish the death penalty has spread to many other countries around the world but has yet to have a widespread effect in the United States. This lack of an explicit consideration of economic criteria in current models and deп¬Ѓnitions of LSR and PSR, and the failure to consistently deп¬Ѓne sustainability and to apply the concepts of sustainability to the п¬Ѓeld of supply chain management, lead to the following research questions: RQ1. • 27. After The War Poem Analysis All the arms we need are for hugging. Unknown. Writers have used their voices and opinions to protest war and its effects of their own experiences of the war. Stephen Crane worked as a journalist during the Spanish American war and published the poem War Is Kind to show how people see the war, versus what the war was really like. Wilfred Owen wrote the poem Dulce et Decorum Est, which means It is sweet and right to die for your country . Owen fought during World War 1, where he also passed away. Tim O Brien served in the Vietnam War and wrote The Things They Carried, to explain what the soldiers had to go through during this war by carrying heavy materials and close friends deaths. Using his personal experiences and difficulties after the war, author Kevin Powers wrote The Yellow Birds after he returned home from serving in Iraq, explaining what goes through his mind after the war. Writers use imagery, irony, and structure to protest war. First of all, in the poem, Dulce et Decorum Est, author Wilfred Owen uses imagery to protest war. In lines 21 and 22, Owen states In all my dreams, before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. This quotation illustrates the image of someone dying during the war, and how corrupt it was on the author. After Owen states this, he then goes on to explain what they did with the bodies after someone would die, stating Behind the wagon that we flung him in, (Line 24), and If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood come gargling from the froth corrupted lungs, (Lines 27 28). By using these words, Owen creates the horrifying image of someone dying, how horrific it was, and how it was an everyday thing for the other soldiers to go through. In his book, The Yellow Birds, Kevin Powers uses imagery to protest war by stating what it was like to killsomeone during the war and what it will do to your mind. Lines 4 6 state, or for that matter killing men and shooting them in the back and shooting them more times than necessary to actually kill them and it was like just trying to kill everything you saw sometimes. The Characteristics Of Criminal Profiling Criminal profiling is the analysis of a person s psychological and behavioral characteristics; in this process they predict their capabilities in a certain sphere and identify a particular subgroup of people. This has led us to analyze whether criminal profiling is a useful law enforcement tool or not, but over the years many studies have shown the great success criminal profiling has produced. The act of criminal profiling is where law enforcement agents look for a subgroup of people s background to analyze what may happen next. In this process law enforcement agents look for the possible antecedents the group of people may have. With this information they can figure out the how they created the plan of the crime and where they were before they committed the act. Once they re done with figuring out their background information they can move onto a more deep explanation of the pattern which all the events occured. This process is called, the Geographic Approach ; which is the process where they look for the location of the crime scene. While doing this process the agents also look for the time the scene was made and while doing this the can also look for more offenses to add to the crime. This means that while they research more deeply, they can find more crimes to add in court for the subgroup of people they re trying to gain more information from or even to see what illegal acts they committed during the crime scene. The kingdoms of France, Russia and Brandenburg Prussia are ample evidence to prove that absolutism worked and was a commonality compared to constitutionalism. This issue then falls to whether the differences or the similarities of these kingdoms are more important in European and World History. The following will provide an argument to support that the similarities of the kingdoms should be more heavily stressed. France was set up for absolute monarchy by King Henry IV. Henry s ambitions neutralized the clash between Catholics and Protestants, in the Edict of Nantes. Before Henry s assassination, he had created a financial surplus in the kingdom. Next in line for the throne was Louis XIII, Henry s son, but he was too young to rule, so Cardinal Richelieu had control over the kingdom. He limited the political privileges of the Huguenots and involved France in the Thirty Years War, and by doing this he affirmed the royal power and engaged France more in European affairs. After Richelieu s death, Louis XIII died and, his son, Louis XIV, who was five years old, inherited the throne. When Louis turned 23 he stepped forward to claim the throne, believing that God had given him the position of King of France. The Sun King, as Louis was called, surrounded himself with the nobles to keep them from governing their districts as effectively and thus empowering himself. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, because Moses is to become the leader of the Hebrew people, he is mentioned outside exodus and his development is made clear through the Midrash, and much later in the bible in Acts. One of the ways we see a definite change in Moses is shown in his humility. In Acts 7.25, he believes that the Hebrews would see him as their savior after he killed the abusive taskmaster, but that isn t the case. There is a huge change after 40 years of shepherding, when Moses is asked by God to return to Egypt in Exodus 3.11, he responds Who am I that should go to Pharaoh? showing that he has been humbled by his stay in a strange land. Another change that occurs during this time, is Moses proving to God that he can be leader of God s chosen people. This happens in the midrash of Exodus and referenced in Luke 15.4 6, and is the story of Moses and the lost Sheep. The message presented is that if Moses would spend the whole day to go after a lost sheep, what would he to find a lost member of his own flock . As some mobile components of Samsung Electronics are provided by their subsidiary company, it seems that they have low power of supplier. Also, the subsidiary company which is Samsung Semiconductor was ranked second in the number of sales throughout the world in 2012(Leachman et al, 2002).
