My Family Essay
My family has its ups and downs sometimes, but we have pulled each other through it. My parents
have allowed me to get a better education by letting me come to PCA. They are proud of me because
I have furthered my education. My parents were happy that I decided to take a college English class
to get some of those credits out of the way. My parents do a lot for me, and I try to what they need
me to do. They want the best for me and my sister so they work hard for us to have the best. My
sister drives me crazy sometimes, but we get along somewhat. She does gymnastics and I do
volleyball, so we never really see each other because we are in two different places. My family kind
of has a summer tradition. My dad's parents, my cousins, aunt,...show more content...
Everyone that I played with the year before was wondering why I was not on the team. In tenth
grade, I tried out again and made the junior varsity team, didn't do much except serve that year.
Eleventh grade tryout made the junior varsity team and played for most of the season. I met
Danielle M. while playing volleyball for the school. She was the one person I could go and talk to
because she would listen to everything and then would talk. Danielle and I became close friends as
the years went on and are still friends today even though she is at college. Danielle is always fun to
be around because of her personality. I could talk to her about anything, and she would give a
suggestion on how to fixed it or deal with that situation. I met Jessica Brunk while playing
volleyball as well. She wants players to get better so she helps them by challenging them. Jessica
helped me last year when I didn't have a partner to warm up with. She was also one of those
friends, who would listen to what you needed to say. Jessica is playing volleyball for college and
I am really happy for her, since that was what she always wanted to do. Danielle and Jessica were
seniors last year so I can not talk to them all the time since they are at college. The student I am
today is because of my family, friends, and all the difficult times, I have been through. My family
and friends have helped me get through difficult times, like everything to do with sports. Coming

Positive And Negative Impact On My Family Essay
This Is Me When people think of work, it has both a positive and negative connotation depending
on their experience. As the oldest in my family I started working at a young age in order to help
my parents. It was not work where I made money, but here work was a generous helping hand. I
was the babysitter of the family and had to learn at the age of nine how it felt to be in charge. It
was a huge responsibility for me, so it was not as exciting but more of a burden on my shoulders.
My first view of work was not what I conserved it to be. I was like some people who saw work as
what a person does in their field of preference. The effort a person puts into a goal might even be
seen as a characteristic in describing what kind of person someone is. I put in all my effort into
helping my family so I was seen with a little bit of respect. Work can be defined as who a person is
and what their morals and beliefs are. Catherine Rampell who is a "specialist in writing about
economics" wrote "Many with New College Degrees Find the Job Market Humbling", and was able
to examine how unemployment and the choice of a person's major and proceeding further in their
degree relate with each other (1217). She found that individuals who spend most of their time in
school trying to get a four–year degree end up not being in the labor force. College graduates have
an employment rate that is decreasing rapidly. According to Rampell's examination "only half of the
jobs landed by these new graduates

My family is friendly and welcoming when interacting with other people. My cousin who has been
living with his Turkish girlfriend for more than 5 years got engaged. The girlfriend's parents came
to our house to meet the rest of the family. On that day, my aunts cooked the finest dish and the
house was basically clean and with some bouquets of flowers. Her parents were so delighted on how
close my family is and we instantly created a special familial bound with people that we meet for
the first time. My family and I have a strong bond, we are always there for another in any
situation. I live in Cambria Heights; my neighborhood is full of Caribbean people especially
Haitians. If we are talking to someone and we see that they are Haitians, we constantly speak
Creole with them rather than talking in a foreign language. My family encourages me to be
independent but school always come first. When I first got my first job, they were happy but
advised me not to work for too many hours so that I still have time for school. My mom wants to
make sure that I finish school and that I get a decent job to provide for my future family. I wanted
to be a pediatrician and my mom supported me but after taking a biology class, my mind changed
and I lost interest. I had physical education as a backup but my mom saw it as a gym teacher and
decided that the pay wasn't enough. Then I realize how much I love sports and I thought physical
therapy was a great career to be in. Haitian parents

Essay on My Family
My Family My Family has always been a very important staple in my life, they come to all of my
sporting events and school activities to support me 100%. They are always there if I ever am in
trouble or in need of help, they can do whatever I need. If I need a talking to and I need to calm
down and focus they can do that for me. Then there are the times that I have with my brothers and
my other family and we have a lot of fun, memories that you share with your family you will never
forget. We have thanksgiving together, and all of my family comes out here for the 4th of July and
we have the best time. During the day we go out in the boat and things in the water and at night we

No name, no face to put with him, heck I don't even know if I look like him. My family and I are
different, there are families that don't share the same situation as having four adopted kids that
are all spread apart in age. Yet my family and I push through that and we look past that, people
don't understand they think that coming from different parents would divide us kids by
thinking, "hey, you aren't my real brother " That kind of thing does not happen, if anything being
from different parents brings us together because we are so different from each other we are
curious to learn about each other. Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as
a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be unique in this way, and we have always
been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our
parents. The sacrifice that they make everyday when the go to work to support four kids who
they never owed anything, never had to call themselves our parents, but they took us in and
called us their own and they are angels walking, for the wonderful impact they have had on the
lives of me and my brothers. Growing up in a large family there will always be troubles and when
the ages are so far apart there will always be growing pains. Being adopted they have the choice of
picking kids that are farther apart from each other which means that we are all in a

My Family Traditions
My family has a lot of different traditions, but one stands out more than the others. The holiday I am
talking about is Christmas. My family has always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We start
the celebration by going to our church's Christmas Eve service. During this service, we sing
Christmas songs and watch a video of the first Christmas. After the service, all my family goes to my
grandparents' house to open presents and have supper. The meal is different than most Christmas
meals. All of my family members bring an appetizer instead of bringing a main dish. One of my
cousins is Haitian and one of uncles is Italian, so we have a lot of different cultures represented.
My favorite is my uncle's meatballs. Once we eat we have two different places to sit. One is
called the kids' room and the other is the adult room. You are supposed to sit at the kids' table if
you are not married. Once we have finished eating we all head to the living room to open presents.
Before we open presents, one of my younger cousins reads a Christmas poem. A different cousin
reads the story every year.
When it is finally time to open presents, we always open them one person at a time and always go
from youngest to oldest. We go one at a time because my grandma likes to see what everyone got.
Once everyone has opened their presents, my grandma tries to recruit some people to play bingo.
She likes being the person who calls out the numbers because that's what her mom always did. We
have been doing all of these things for as long as I can remember. My dad says they have been
doing things this way for the last 40 years. My grandma is the main person that has been carrying on
these traditions.
I would say my grandmother is the glue to our family so everyone follows her lead. I think that
my other family members are so used to doing these things that they will continue to do them in
the future. I would say I am a participant in this tradition. I am one of the younger grandchildren,
so I do not say much or try to change anything. If I did offer a new idea, I do think my grandma
would consider it. My whole family takes part in this tradition. I have six aunts and uncles and
twelve cousins, so my family is pretty big. Everyone

No one can't meet a family like mine's. My family is well diversified. Every family member plays
an important role in all my family's lives. In my family, there are four people: my father, my
mother, my little brother and me. My father is one who brings money home and is also responsible
for organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals
and makes sure everyone eats at the appropriate times. My little brother is the pet of the family. He
actually doesn't have any responsibilities, for he's the pet. I am the rock of support in my family. I

Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for
my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I also support my younger cousins and brother.
As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are
numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing
advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of
his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent
approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then
asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to
anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get
out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to
get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I
also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in
a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my
cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and
activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I
am also known for being there

My Day With My Family
I believe that I feel the most comfortable when I am home with my family. Any activity we do
together is amazing. Whether it's watching a movie together, having dinner, or having something
to talk about. There is always a time of the day where we just have a good laugh about something
that happened throughout the day. I know my family will always be there for me and I will do
the same for them. I believe that I am blessed to have such a loving, caring, and compassionate
family. I believe when times are tough, my family is my true comfort. Even if it's the smallest
thing like a headache or stomachache I feel better with just my mom doing anything for me to
feel better. I don't need medicine to heal the smallest pains; all I need is my family's love. I've
never looked at another family and thought, "wow they have an amazing relationship, i am
jealous". Sometimes I do the opposite because I never had thought wrong about my family even
when we're aggravated sometimes. I remember during the summer we would have a cookout
every single Saturday and Sunday. We would all get together and have my dads "special asadas".
Which are a special steak well done with allot of lime and spices. We would sit there for hours eating
and having a beer. We would call close friends that we even call family. I believe there is no perfect
life or perfect family. I believe my family will overcome anything that causes pain or misery. I
believe that we are in full control of our own wellness, both

My family? You actually want to use these few minutes to read about my family? Well, let me just
say one thing: we are all so, very different. So, making connections is easier said than done. Yet, I
have made a few crucial connections with my cousin Hayley, my cousin P.J., and my mother. To
begin with, my cousin P.J. has been an immense part of these past thirteen years. The day I was
able to comprehend what a "best friend" was, I think I knew he was mine. The reason, I believe,
we are so close is because of the fact that we grew up together. He was set up to be my best friend
from the start, and I could not have asked for a better companion. We spent a huge amount of time
together, mostly in the woods discovering our fifth "secret" clubhouse that week. We had
numerous games we had created, my personal favorite being the one that consisted of creating
extremely disgusting food creations and trying to poison our imaginary sheriff, I miss it, so
much. I suppose another reason we have become such close partners in crime throughout the
years is because he was the first person, outside of my parents, to influence my personality.
Children are very impressionable, and as a very young one at the time, him being a year older than
me was a big deal. I was friends with a big kid! So, naturally, I began to copy his actions and what
he took interest in, making us extremely similar. I eventually grew out of it, but some things just
never changed. I guess that

As any other kid all I wanted growing up was a family like the fairytales. A prince charming dad
and princess as a mom ,but like always nothing is what it seems. Many people do not cherish family
until some death or terminal illness occurs. I am going to talk about two major impacts in my life.
The only family I knew growing up was my babysitters. They were not always family or anyone
close. My parents would see a hispanic family and automatically befriend them ,so they could
take care of me and my sister. Majority of the families that took care of us had a stay at home
mom and the dad was the one going to work. This made me question my family because my mom
would not only work, she would have up to three jobs at a time. My dad only had one job, but his
job would consist of twelve or longer hour shifts. When we would ask family to look after us they
would make up excuses or plans to say they did not have time. Not only would they get annoyed
they would treat me and my sister wrong. To help that situation, I became tough and took care of
my sister alone in the house. I guess i learned with my sister. Some years later my mother got
pregnant with my brother. A week after having him she went back to work and left me in charge.
My mom makes jokes like "now you can be a mother" which in a way i do not find funny. I got
robbed of my childhood and she knows it.
Eventually mom had the idea to get to know the only living grandma i had. My family lived in
california , where we only

My Family And My Life
When I was 8, my family and I lived in small house in the city town. Our life was a little bit hard,
everyone in the family is always busy, my mom went to work most of the time and my dad, too.
My sister and me we both have school during the day and tutoring class after school. Sometimes, I
only see my mom twice a week even though she is home everyday at midnight because of her
busy work. My dad is in charged of taking me to school and picking me up after tutoring class, but
he also have his job, he have to get everything in schedule in order to get everything in fit. On
weekend, I am alone by myself at home or sometimes I go to my friend house and stayed there
throughout the week. That was how our life was until my family got into a situation that I was
thinking it is going to be bad, but it came out that I have learned a wonderful life lesson.
One day I came home from school and put my backpack on the hanger, slowly walk into the
kitchen where my mom is making food for our family dinner. I sat down and say "Hi mom, I'm
home" with an excited but also tired voice. Then suddenly, she turns back and walk to me, sit
down on the chair and asked "So, how was school school today, my dear? Did you have fun? What
have you learned today?" with an lovely voice. "School was fine today, I learned a lot from all of
my classes, but the most important thing that I have learned today was in my math class, my teacher
taught me how to write an equation using a formula that can help me in

Family Day
When I was around 6, I had gotten out of church wearing my nice church clothes with a tie, shoes,
dressy pants, and a blazer. I was with my mom, dad, brother, and sister, who all had on church
clothes too. My sister had the same things my mom had on, a black long skirt with an expensive
white shirt. My brother and dad had on the same thing too: black shoes, navy blue pants, black
bowtie and white shirt. I was the only one with a blazer on. My siblings and I were really happy we
all went to church together, so I guess my dad was happy because of that, but he had a tired look on
his face too.

I guess to make sure no one got in to rob them it was so high. It had a metal gate in the middle,
about 20 feet tall, but an opening we can walk through. There was a doorman there who said we
could get in for free, but we had to give a donation – any amount we wanted to give. So my dad gave
him a few bucks and we kept moving. It was beautiful once we got in. There were trees so high up
and along a cement road; we could walk around the garden. In the garden there were houses that
seemed old and run down, like they had been there for years but went inside one, it smelled like
roses. We noticed at second glance it was a rose house with many different types of roses. They
had red, yellow, white, even pink roses. My sister loved it there; she was dreaming she was in a
romantic movies waiting for her dream man to come. My brother and I just laughed at her, saying
she was stupid.
As we moved along, we got to a bridge that seemed old and run down, but I thought of it as an
adventure. Under the bridge, there was this disgusting muck of black water. Of course my brother
and I had to go across it, even though my dad said no because we may fall in the water. I am not that
stupid, so I told my brother to go first. He ran across the bridge and made it just fine, so I though "it
is my turn; if he can make it, so can I". So I pretended I was in a race for my life. Like

I Am Proud With My Family
As one of eight children, I am consistently humbled by the experiences in my early environment.
My siblings and I shared clothing, toys, bedrooms, and even beds. It seemed I always had less
than my friends. As the second oldest, I had responsibilities and to watch over and care for my
younger siblings. I feel blessed for growing up in a big family because I learned not only how to be
patient and thankful with less, but how to serve the younger and weaker.
Every weekend on the way to work in the hospital I am reminded of the tragedy that occurred a
little over four years ago. I can recall coming from school that day vividly picturing a red
ambulance in our front yard and firefighters dousing the scorched remains of the place I called
home. That was the first time I remember thinking to myself that I may never see my family
again. I learned the importance of counting possessions as lost when our house vanished in that
fire. More importantly, my parents instilled in me a deep understanding that no treasure on this
earth can compare to the infinite value of a human being. I carry this principle with me in all
aspects of my life. As a result, I diligently seek a healthy personal relationship with every precious
life. I believe that this and similar early experiences have not only fostered the person I am today,
but have also led to my interests in medicine. It is clear to me that I want to commit my life to serving
others, counting each more important than myself.

Personal Narrative Essay : My Family Is My Life
My family is my life
Life becomes more meaningful when you realize the simple life fact that you will never get the
same moment twice. I had lived with my parents until I was 12 years old, but they could not care
for me anymore, because they are working in a factory in Juarez for more than six or eight hours
a day. They did not like the idea that my sister and I would stay alone, because my older sister was
studying at high school and I was studying at elementary school. When looking for a good place
that we may stay, after days of searching they found Centro Victoria de NiГ±os Vida en Jesus,a
small place but an amazing and comfortable place in Juarez. In this is a place a married couple
care for many girls and boys of the same ages as me. Our parents explained the difficult situation we
were going through. They told us that it hurt them a lot to leave us, but that they did not have any
more options. The reality was that we did not have family in Juarez at the time. They told us that
they found an amazing place and small place where we can stay just during the week. All children
that have a family can have a chance to go to the home. My sister and I agreed to live there because
we did not want to be alone. The first two weeks were very sad to feel that you no longer live in
your house, but in this place, we are learning to be good people, get a chance to have two incredible
families and having opportunities that changed my life.
I loved the way my tutors taught us when we started living in this place. I learned how to behave.
My tutors became like my parents. When I was staying in my house, I knew that I was not a good
daughter and I had many bad habits like the way I eat and my sleeping habits. It was obvious that
my parents did not see things as I did, and thus my tutor talked to me about things that I needed it
to change. They explained that this it was not easy, but if I persevere, it will work out as they told
me and that people never stop learning. I learned to like other children, to eat, to sleep, to take a
shower at the right time. I also learned trust to myself, and be honest. Also, I learned that if I fall, I
can stand up because people learn from their mistakes. The last but the most important

Today families are made up of many different structures. There are nuclear family, single parent
family, extended family, and childless family, just to name a few. As I look at my family, amongst
the traditional American family we have transitioned from a single parent family into a nuclear
family. The transition is similar to a traditional family in our society. The roles of my parents
switched on a daily basis which is common in a military family or in any other family.
My family consists of five total; my mom, stepdad, sister and brother. I am the eldest of three. I
was born in 1988 in a single parent home. My mom and biological dad were high school
sweethearts, but ended their relationship before I was born. My mom worked multiple jobs which
consisted of working in a factory, department and grocery stores. Three years later my little sister
Ayana was born and two years afterwards my brother Javone. In 1996 mymother married my
stepdad John when I was eight years old. We became a nuclear family. John didn't have any kids
of his own, so we became his kids. Our household change tremendously being we were only use to
having one parent. It definitely took some adjusting to get use to the idea of now having a dad or a
man figure in the house.
I remember Christmas when my mom would have to sign up for toys for us that Social Services
would give out to low income families. I called it the black bag story. Our Christmas tree would be

Ever since I was born my mother has been supporting our family all by herself. She so often asked
for help from family members and friends, but ultimately she was the one holding our family
together. When I was younger, I never actually understood how bad my mother was struggling to
keep our family together. I've never seen her cry, or break down over the stress she is under. I
always thought my life was great until I got older and started realizing that there's more to the story.
I'm very grateful to have everything that I have, but it's not the same when I see others with a better.
Now that I'm older I feel as if my mother's financial stability has gotten worse over the years, and
it's noticeable. Every time I need money for an activity or anything else she never seems to have the
money. I'll get very frustrated, but then move on from the situation because I know in my heart that
she's trying to juggle more than she can handle in her life. I've cried a few, but not enough to where
my mother will realize I'm upset with her.
Most days in my high school years, I would go over to my friend's house, and out with their family's.
Honestly, I love seeing how my friends household operates to differently than mine.I would

Essay on My Family's Ancestry
Gathering research about my family and its history turned out to be an interesting and insightful
opportunity, through which I learned much more than I expected. When I started this project, I
knew that I would not be able to find as much useful information on the Internet as some of my
peers. In effect, I realized that I would have to rely on other primary resources such as my parents
and grandparents to reveal the story of my ancestry to me. After I had interviewed them, my family
history became much clearer to me. More than 2 millennia ago, around the 3rd century BC, a group
of Tamil–speaking people from present–day South India migrated to the nearby island of Sri Lanka.
Among these people, known today as "Sri Lankan Tamils", are my...show more content...
The Peninsula has a hot, monsoonal tropical climate characterized by a dry season from February
to October and a wet season from October to January. Because of the monsoons, the region is
humid and averages three feet of rain each year, which is relatively low compared to the rest of the
island. The climate of the region allows for many crops to be grown including many varieties of
fruits and vegetables.
While interviewing my parents and grandparents, I learned about many customs and aspects of
the Sri Lankan Tamil culture. Sri Lankan Tamils are devotees of the Shaiva sect of Hinduism,
mainly worshipping the lord Shiva. The three main cultural festivals celebrated in the area are
Thai Pongal (beginning of the harvest), Chittrai Pongal (Tamil New Year), and Deepavali (Hindu
Festival of Lights). In addition, pujas (religious rituals) are performed for different occasions, such
as the death day of an ancestor or the celebration of a certain Hindu deity. It was also a custom to
ask the village astrologer for advice on certain decisions, such as the name of a newborn child.
Paternal Great–Grandparents In the early 1900's, Kadirasaipillai and Vairavipillai Kandappar, my
paternal grandmother's parents, were born in the village of Puloly, Northern Province, Sri Lanka.
They were both born into families of the Vellalar caste of Tamil society and went to school at Puttalai
Vidhyalayam, the only schooling option

My Family
Everyone has someone in their life that makes you feel better when you're sad or cares about you
eternally, no matter what. That is my family, specifically my Dad, my Mom and my brother
Brian. Some people take their family for granted, but I know that without my parents I wouldn't
have a roof over my head or food on a plate or even clothes on my back. Without my brother, I
might not have played any sports, my brother is the one who introduced all types of sports into my
life and motivated me to do my best. Everyone has an idol or someone that they look up to,
someone that I look up to is my father. He is everything that I want to be when I grow up, kind,
athletic, close with his family, and cares for everybody. My father likes being with his family and
enjoys caring for us. He gets joy when we succeed. Though he gets mad and yells, when we are
making lots of trouble, I always know he loves and cares for me. My dad is and I hope will always
be athletic and enjoys watching many sports with my brother and I. Something I will always
remember was when my dad went to my first ever travel soccer game. He did not know almost
anything about soccer and as he has said, when he was in grade school and high school no one
ever paid attention to soccer. After my game my dad and I went to a diner and we talked all about
my game and all the different rules in soccer. We chatted about how I scored my first goal and it
was a moment where I feel like I really connected with my dad. This is

My Family Essay
Anybody who knows me, knows that my family situation is pretty crazy. Just describing my
immediate family sometimes baffles people and leads me into having to explain in more detail the
constitution of my family. For starters, My mother came from the Philippines and my Dad is
currently 77. Let's dive into the details of my family.
The category my immediate family best fits into is a blended family. Mainly because of my
father. He has remarried 3 times but has finally settled down with my mother. He has 2 sons with
his ex wife which makes them my half brothers. Since my Dad is 77, my brothers are in their late
40's so it's pretty difficult to explain to people my brothers ages. What is even more shocking to
people is that both of my half brothers have children. Both of which are older than me. The look
on people's faces when I tell them that I am an uncle with nieces that are both a year older than
me is amusing. However, what I consider my immediate family, my mom and my dad, we are a
isolated nuclear two earner family if you could combine the two. My mother has never had a
divorce and has been with my father for 23 years now. They are both great, supportive, and loving
parents.
In my family, there is definitely a solidified instrumental family role. It lays within my dad.
Although me and him collaborate when making decisions for the household, he is usually the man
of the house. He is the breadwinner in the family as he owns how own automobile shop for over 50

many friends whom I still keep their friendship. I was six years old when I went at this female school,
so all of my friends were woman. Every class, I used to go late because my parents would work the
entire day every day; therefore, my grandmother after cook, she got to take me to at school. One
day when I was going to my school on bus, I saw in the same bus a black long hair girl also with her
grandmother and I remembered have seen her in my classroom. That day, after finishing the
class, I started to talk with that girl called "Vanessa". Coincidently, after a long talking, we
realized living close to each other. Therefore, I used to go her home to do homework or play
chequers. Sometimes, I came home from school with Vanessa and her grandmother when my
grandmother could not. Vanessa and I sang popular songs or telling jokes on the back way home.
As I met Vanessa, I talked with Sara, Giuliana and Emily also. We are five– girls, so we sat together
everyday that my parents talked with their parents, and if some of us were absent in the school, one
of the parents called to tell them the homework of the day. They were my first

My Family Essay
I have been fortunate enough to have grown up in a content and supportive family. My parents are
still married, my grandparents, and even some great grandparents, survived to see me grow up, and
I have a good relationship with my immediate and extended family. My family and my experiences
with them have formed me into the person that I am today. Despite having an average, middle class,
white picket fence life, my family is not as ordinary as they seem on the surface. The element of my
family that has had the most impact on me and my character is the fact that most of my family is set
up in a matriarchal fashion. In short, the women of my family are resolute, confident, and in charge.
Although the women of my family are in...show more content...
Despite these roadblocks, my self worth and determination was unshaken. Luckily for me, the
lessons that I had learned in my family life provided a solid foundation for my character. During
my first years at my Christian school, I readily imposed my opinions on gender equality into
every debate or argument I stumbled upon. Ok, maybe it was more like the arguments and
debates that I started. I showered my unlucky opponent with Bible verses supporting women,
examples of successful females, and my own personal experiences with unflagging women. After
a while, I began really enjoying and reveling in these often occurring, heated discussions. I even
began seeking them out. This game of bait and catch that I played, however, left me with few
friends and even fewer minds changed. It was in my freshman English class that I had a
revelation during one of our class discussions. The teacher had asked us to pick the gender that
we viewed as the better one and walk to the wall designated to that specific sex, and I was furious.
I stood up, when it was time to pick our side and watched every single one of my classmates
saunter over to the wall assigned to the male gender. As each kid took their spot against the wall, I
sat down in my desk located in the middle of the room. This caused my teacher some concern. As
my confused teacher approached my desk, I grew more and more incandescent. She proceeded to ask

My Family's Christmas Eve Tradition

  • 1. My Family Essay My family has its ups and downs sometimes, but we have pulled each other through it. My parents have allowed me to get a better education by letting me come to PCA. They are proud of me because I have furthered my education. My parents were happy that I decided to take a college English class to get some of those credits out of the way. My parents do a lot for me, and I try to what they need me to do. They want the best for me and my sister so they work hard for us to have the best. My sister drives me crazy sometimes, but we get along somewhat. She does gymnastics and I do volleyball, so we never really see each other because we are in two different places. My family kind of has a summer tradition. My dad's parents, my cousins, aunt,...show more content... Everyone that I played with the year before was wondering why I was not on the team. In tenth grade, I tried out again and made the junior varsity team, didn't do much except serve that year. Eleventh grade tryout made the junior varsity team and played for most of the season. I met Danielle M. while playing volleyball for the school. She was the one person I could go and talk to because she would listen to everything and then would talk. Danielle and I became close friends as the years went on and are still friends today even though she is at college. Danielle is always fun to be around because of her personality. I could talk to her about anything, and she would give a suggestion on how to fixed it or deal with that situation. I met Jessica Brunk while playing volleyball as well. She wants players to get better so she helps them by challenging them. Jessica helped me last year when I didn't have a partner to warm up with. She was also one of those friends, who would listen to what you needed to say. Jessica is playing volleyball for college and I am really happy for her, since that was what she always wanted to do. Danielle and Jessica were seniors last year so I can not talk to them all the time since they are at college. The student I am today is because of my family, friends, and all the difficult times, I have been through. My family and friends have helped me get through difficult times, like everything to do with sports. Coming from a public school to a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Positive And Negative Impact On My Family Essay This Is Me When people think of work, it has both a positive and negative connotation depending on their experience. As the oldest in my family I started working at a young age in order to help my parents. It was not work where I made money, but here work was a generous helping hand. I was the babysitter of the family and had to learn at the age of nine how it felt to be in charge. It was a huge responsibility for me, so it was not as exciting but more of a burden on my shoulders. My first view of work was not what I conserved it to be. I was like some people who saw work as what a person does in their field of preference. The effort a person puts into a goal might even be seen as a characteristic in describing what kind of person someone is. I put in all my effort into helping my family so I was seen with a little bit of respect. Work can be defined as who a person is and what their morals and beliefs are. Catherine Rampell who is a "specialist in writing about economics" wrote "Many with New College Degrees Find the Job Market Humbling", and was able to examine how unemployment and the choice of a person's major and proceeding further in their degree relate with each other (1217). She found that individuals who spend most of their time in school trying to get a four–year degree end up not being in the labor force. College graduates have an employment rate that is decreasing rapidly. According to Rampell's examination "only half of the jobs landed by these new graduates Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Family Essay My family is friendly and welcoming when interacting with other people. My cousin who has been living with his Turkish girlfriend for more than 5 years got engaged. The girlfriend's parents came to our house to meet the rest of the family. On that day, my aunts cooked the finest dish and the house was basically clean and with some bouquets of flowers. Her parents were so delighted on how close my family is and we instantly created a special familial bound with people that we meet for the first time. My family and I have a strong bond, we are always there for another in any situation. I live in Cambria Heights; my neighborhood is full of Caribbean people especially Haitians. If we are talking to someone and we see that they are Haitians, we constantly speak Creole with them rather than talking in a foreign language. My family encourages me to be independent but school always come first. When I first got my first job, they were happy but advised me not to work for too many hours so that I still have time for school. My mom wants to make sure that I finish school and that I get a decent job to provide for my future family. I wanted to be a pediatrician and my mom supported me but after taking a biology class, my mind changed and I lost interest. I had physical education as a backup but my mom saw it as a gym teacher and decided that the pay wasn't enough. Then I realize how much I love sports and I thought physical therapy was a great career to be in. Haitian parents Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on My Family My Family My Family has always been a very important staple in my life, they come to all of my sporting events and school activities to support me 100%. They are always there if I ever am in trouble or in need of help, they can do whatever I need. If I need a talking to and I need to calm down and focus they can do that for me. Then there are the times that I have with my brothers and my other family and we have a lot of fun, memories that you share with your family you will never forget. We have thanksgiving together, and all of my family comes out here for the 4th of July and we have the best time. During the day we go out in the boat and things in the water and at night we eat a lot of food and shoot off tons of fireworks. Then we...show more content... No name, no face to put with him, heck I don't even know if I look like him. My family and I are different, there are families that don't share the same situation as having four adopted kids that are all spread apart in age. Yet my family and I push through that and we look past that, people don't understand they think that coming from different parents would divide us kids by thinking, "hey, you aren't my real brother " That kind of thing does not happen, if anything being from different parents brings us together because we are so different from each other we are curious to learn about each other. Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be unique in this way, and we have always been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our parents. The sacrifice that they make everyday when the go to work to support four kids who they never owed anything, never had to call themselves our parents, but they took us in and called us their own and they are angels walking, for the wonderful impact they have had on the lives of me and my brothers. Growing up in a large family there will always be troubles and when the ages are so far apart there will always be growing pains. Being adopted they have the choice of picking kids that are farther apart from each other which means that we are all in a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Family Traditions My family has a lot of different traditions, but one stands out more than the others. The holiday I am talking about is Christmas. My family has always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We start the celebration by going to our church's Christmas Eve service. During this service, we sing Christmas songs and watch a video of the first Christmas. After the service, all my family goes to my grandparents' house to open presents and have supper. The meal is different than most Christmas meals. All of my family members bring an appetizer instead of bringing a main dish. One of my cousins is Haitian and one of uncles is Italian, so we have a lot of different cultures represented. My favorite is my uncle's meatballs. Once we eat we have two different places to sit. One is called the kids' room and the other is the adult room. You are supposed to sit at the kids' table if you are not married. Once we have finished eating we all head to the living room to open presents. Before we open presents, one of my younger cousins reads a Christmas poem. A different cousin reads the story every year. When it is finally time to open presents, we always open them one person at a time and always go from youngest to oldest. We go one at a time because my grandma likes to see what everyone got. Once everyone has opened their presents, my grandma tries to recruit some people to play bingo. She likes being the person who calls out the numbers because that's what her mom always did. We have been doing all of these things for as long as I can remember. My dad says they have been doing things this way for the last 40 years. My grandma is the main person that has been carrying on these traditions. I would say my grandmother is the glue to our family so everyone follows her lead. I think that my other family members are so used to doing these things that they will continue to do them in the future. I would say I am a participant in this tradition. I am one of the younger grandchildren, so I do not say much or try to change anything. If I did offer a new idea, I do think my grandma would consider it. My whole family takes part in this tradition. I have six aunts and uncles and twelve cousins, so my family is pretty big. Everyone Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My Family Essay No one can't meet a family like mine's. My family is well diversified. Every family member plays an important role in all my family's lives. In my family, there are four people: my father, my mother, my little brother and me. My father is one who brings money home and is also responsible for organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals and makes sure everyone eats at the appropriate times. My little brother is the pet of the family. He actually doesn't have any responsibilities, for he's the pet. I am the rock of support in my family. I always go beyond my parents' expectations. I also support my younger cousins and little brother, by being a role model that they can look up to. Another...show more content... Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I also support my younger cousins and brother. As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I am also known for being there Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Day With My Family I believe that I feel the most comfortable when I am home with my family. Any activity we do together is amazing. Whether it's watching a movie together, having dinner, or having something to talk about. There is always a time of the day where we just have a good laugh about something that happened throughout the day. I know my family will always be there for me and I will do the same for them. I believe that I am blessed to have such a loving, caring, and compassionate family. I believe when times are tough, my family is my true comfort. Even if it's the smallest thing like a headache or stomachache I feel better with just my mom doing anything for me to feel better. I don't need medicine to heal the smallest pains; all I need is my family's love. I've never looked at another family and thought, "wow they have an amazing relationship, i am jealous". Sometimes I do the opposite because I never had thought wrong about my family even when we're aggravated sometimes. I remember during the summer we would have a cookout every single Saturday and Sunday. We would all get together and have my dads "special asadas". Which are a special steak well done with allot of lime and spices. We would sit there for hours eating and having a beer. We would call close friends that we even call family. I believe there is no perfect life or perfect family. I believe my family will overcome anything that causes pain or misery. I believe that we are in full control of our own wellness, both Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Family Essay My family? You actually want to use these few minutes to read about my family? Well, let me just say one thing: we are all so, very different. So, making connections is easier said than done. Yet, I have made a few crucial connections with my cousin Hayley, my cousin P.J., and my mother. To begin with, my cousin P.J. has been an immense part of these past thirteen years. The day I was able to comprehend what a "best friend" was, I think I knew he was mine. The reason, I believe, we are so close is because of the fact that we grew up together. He was set up to be my best friend from the start, and I could not have asked for a better companion. We spent a huge amount of time together, mostly in the woods discovering our fifth "secret" clubhouse that week. We had numerous games we had created, my personal favorite being the one that consisted of creating extremely disgusting food creations and trying to poison our imaginary sheriff, I miss it, so much. I suppose another reason we have become such close partners in crime throughout the years is because he was the first person, outside of my parents, to influence my personality. Children are very impressionable, and as a very young one at the time, him being a year older than me was a big deal. I was friends with a big kid! So, naturally, I began to copy his actions and what he took interest in, making us extremely similar. I eventually grew out of it, but some things just never changed. • 9. My Family Essay As any other kid all I wanted growing up was a family like the fairytales. A prince charming dad and princess as a mom ,but like always nothing is what it seems. Many people do not cherish family until some death or terminal illness occurs. I am going to talk about two major impacts in my life. The only family I knew growing up was my babysitters. They were not always family or anyone close. My parents would see a hispanic family and automatically befriend them ,so they could take care of me and my sister. Majority of the families that took care of us had a stay at home mom and the dad was the one going to work. This made me question my family because my mom would not only work, she would have up to three jobs at a time. My dad only had one job, but his job would consist of twelve or longer hour shifts. When we would ask family to look after us they would make up excuses or plans to say they did not have time. Not only would they get annoyed they would treat me and my sister wrong. To help that situation, I became tough and took care of my sister alone in the house. I guess i learned with my sister. Some years later my mother got pregnant with my brother. A week after having him she went back to work and left me in charge. My mom makes jokes like "now you can be a mother" which in a way i do not find funny. I got robbed of my childhood and she knows it. Eventually mom had the idea to get to know the only living grandma i had. • 10. My Family And My Life When I was 8, my family and I lived in small house in the city town. Our life was a little bit hard, everyone in the family is always busy, my mom went to work most of the time and my dad, too. My sister and me we both have school during the day and tutoring class after school. Sometimes, I only see my mom twice a week even though she is home everyday at midnight because of her busy work. My dad is in charged of taking me to school and picking me up after tutoring class, but he also have his job, he have to get everything in schedule in order to get everything in fit. On weekend, I am alone by myself at home or sometimes I go to my friend house and stayed there throughout the week. That was how our life was until my family got into a situation that I was thinking it is going to be bad, but it came out that I have learned a wonderful life lesson. One day I came home from school and put my backpack on the hanger, slowly walk into the kitchen where my mom is making food for our family dinner. I sat down and say "Hi mom, I'm home" with an excited but also tired voice. Then suddenly, she turns back and walk to me, sit down on the chair and asked "So, how was school school today, my dear? Did you have fun? What have you learned today?" with an lovely voice. "School was fine today, I learned a lot from all of my classes, but the most important thing that I have learned today was in my math class, my teacher taught me how to write an equation using a formula that can help me in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Family Day Essay Family Day When I was around 6, I had gotten out of church wearing my nice church clothes with a tie, shoes, dressy pants, and a blazer. I was with my mom, dad, brother, and sister, who all had on church clothes too. My sister had the same things my mom had on, a black long skirt with an expensive white shirt. My brother and dad had on the same thing too: black shoes, navy blue pants, black bowtie and white shirt. I was the only one with a blazer on. My siblings and I were really happy we all went to church together, so I guess my dad was happy because of that, but he had a tired look on his face too. After church,...show more content... It was beautiful once we got in. There were trees so high up and along a cement road; we could walk around the garden. In the garden there were houses that seemed old and run down, like they had been there for years but went inside one, it smelled like roses. We noticed at second glance it was a rose house with many different types of roses. They had red, yellow, white, even pink roses. My sister loved it there; she was dreaming she was in a romantic movies waiting for her dream man to come. My brother and I just laughed at her, saying she was stupid. As we moved along, we got to a bridge that seemed old and run down, but I thought of it as an adventure. Under the bridge, there was this disgusting muck of black water. Of course my brother and I had to go across it, even though my dad said no because we may fall in the water. I am not that stupid, so I told my brother to go first. He ran across the bridge and made it just fine, so I though "it is my turn; if he can make it, so can I". So I pretended I was in a race for my life. Like Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. I Am Proud With My Family As one of eight children, I am consistently humbled by the experiences in my early environment. My siblings and I shared clothing, toys, bedrooms, and even beds. It seemed I always had less than my friends. As the second oldest, I had responsibilities and to watch over and care for my younger siblings. I feel blessed for growing up in a big family because I learned not only how to be patient and thankful with less, but how to serve the younger and weaker. Every weekend on the way to work in the hospital I am reminded of the tragedy that occurred a little over four years ago. I can recall coming from school that day vividly picturing a red ambulance in our front yard and firefighters dousing the scorched remains of the place I called home. That was the first time I remember thinking to myself that I may never see my family again. I learned the importance of counting possessions as lost when our house vanished in that fire. More importantly, my parents instilled in me a deep understanding that no treasure on this earth can compare to the infinite value of a human being. I carry this principle with me in all aspects of my life. As a result, I diligently seek a healthy personal relationship with every precious life. I believe that this and similar early experiences have not only fostered the person I am today, but have also led to my interests in medicine. It is clear to me that I want to commit my life to serving others, counting each more important than myself. While my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Personal Narrative Essay : My Family Is My Life My family is my life Life becomes more meaningful when you realize the simple life fact that you will never get the same moment twice. I had lived with my parents until I was 12 years old, but they could not care for me anymore, because they are working in a factory in Juarez for more than six or eight hours a day. They did not like the idea that my sister and I would stay alone, because my older sister was studying at high school and I was studying at elementary school. When looking for a good place that we may stay, after days of searching they found Centro Victoria de NiГ±os Vida en Jesus,a small place but an amazing and comfortable place in Juarez. In this is a place a married couple care for many girls and boys of the same ages as me. Our parents explained the difficult situation we were going through. They told us that it hurt them a lot to leave us, but that they did not have any more options. The reality was that we did not have family in Juarez at the time. They told us that they found an amazing place and small place where we can stay just during the week. All children that have a family can have a chance to go to the home. My sister and I agreed to live there because we did not want to be alone. The first two weeks were very sad to feel that you no longer live in your house, but in this place, we are learning to be good people, get a chance to have two incredible families and having opportunities that changed my life. I loved the way my tutors taught us when we started living in this place. I learned how to behave. My tutors became like my parents. When I was staying in my house, I knew that I was not a good daughter and I had many bad habits like the way I eat and my sleeping habits. It was obvious that my parents did not see things as I did, and thus my tutor talked to me about things that I needed it to change. They explained that this it was not easy, but if I persevere, it will work out as they told me and that people never stop learning. I learned to like other children, to eat, to sleep, to take a shower at the right time. I also learned trust to myself, and be honest. Also, I learned that if I fall, I can stand up because people learn from their mistakes. The last but the most important Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. My Family Essay Today families are made up of many different structures. There are nuclear family, single parent family, extended family, and childless family, just to name a few. As I look at my family, amongst the traditional American family we have transitioned from a single parent family into a nuclear family. The transition is similar to a traditional family in our society. The roles of my parents switched on a daily basis which is common in a military family or in any other family. My family consists of five total; my mom, stepdad, sister and brother. I am the eldest of three. I was born in 1988 in a single parent home. My mom and biological dad were high school sweethearts, but ended their relationship before I was born. My mom worked multiple jobs which consisted of working in a factory, department and grocery stores. Three years later my little sister Ayana was born and two years afterwards my brother Javone. In 1996 mymother married my stepdad John when I was eight years old. We became a nuclear family. John didn't have any kids of his own, so we became his kids. Our household change tremendously being we were only use to having one parent. It definitely took some adjusting to get use to the idea of now having a dad or a man figure in the house. I remember Christmas when my mom would have to sign up for toys for us that Social Services would give out to low income families. I called it the black bag story. Our Christmas tree would be standing there bare and the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. My Family Essay Ever since I was born my mother has been supporting our family all by herself. She so often asked for help from family members and friends, but ultimately she was the one holding our family together. When I was younger, I never actually understood how bad my mother was struggling to keep our family together. I've never seen her cry, or break down over the stress she is under. I always thought my life was great until I got older and started realizing that there's more to the story. I'm very grateful to have everything that I have, but it's not the same when I see others with a better. Now that I'm older I feel as if my mother's financial stability has gotten worse over the years, and it's noticeable. Every time I need money for an activity or anything else she never seems to have the money. I'll get very frustrated, but then move on from the situation because I know in my heart that she's trying to juggle more than she can handle in her life. I've cried a few, but not enough to where my mother will realize I'm upset with her. Most days in my high school years, I would go over to my friend's house, and out with their family's. Honestly, I love seeing how my friends household operates to differently than mine.I would understand why because most of my friends included both a mother and father while mines only have a mother. In particular, one of my closest friends family. They are a loving family and is like a second family that I've been able to come to in need. Her family Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Essay on My Family's Ancestry Gathering research about my family and its history turned out to be an interesting and insightful opportunity, through which I learned much more than I expected. When I started this project, I knew that I would not be able to find as much useful information on the Internet as some of my peers. In effect, I realized that I would have to rely on other primary resources such as my parents and grandparents to reveal the story of my ancestry to me. After I had interviewed them, my family history became much clearer to me. More than 2 millennia ago, around the 3rd century BC, a group of Tamil–speaking people from present–day South India migrated to the nearby island of Sri Lanka. Among these people, known today as "Sri Lankan Tamils", are my...show more content... The Peninsula has a hot, monsoonal tropical climate characterized by a dry season from February to October and a wet season from October to January. Because of the monsoons, the region is humid and averages three feet of rain each year, which is relatively low compared to the rest of the island. The climate of the region allows for many crops to be grown including many varieties of fruits and vegetables. While interviewing my parents and grandparents, I learned about many customs and aspects of the Sri Lankan Tamil culture. Sri Lankan Tamils are devotees of the Shaiva sect of Hinduism, mainly worshipping the lord Shiva. The three main cultural festivals celebrated in the area are Thai Pongal (beginning of the harvest), Chittrai Pongal (Tamil New Year), and Deepavali (Hindu Festival of Lights). In addition, pujas (religious rituals) are performed for different occasions, such as the death day of an ancestor or the celebration of a certain Hindu deity. It was also a custom to ask the village astrologer for advice on certain decisions, such as the name of a newborn child. Paternal Great–Grandparents In the early 1900's, Kadirasaipillai and Vairavipillai Kandappar, my paternal grandmother's parents, were born in the village of Puloly, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. They were both born into families of the Vellalar caste of Tamil society and went to school at Puttalai Vidhyalayam, the only schooling option Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. My Family Everyone has someone in their life that makes you feel better when you're sad or cares about you eternally, no matter what. That is my family, specifically my Dad, my Mom and my brother Brian. Some people take their family for granted, but I know that without my parents I wouldn't have a roof over my head or food on a plate or even clothes on my back. Without my brother, I might not have played any sports, my brother is the one who introduced all types of sports into my life and motivated me to do my best. Everyone has an idol or someone that they look up to, someone that I look up to is my father. He is everything that I want to be when I grow up, kind, athletic, close with his family, and cares for everybody. My father likes being with his family and enjoys caring for us. He gets joy when we succeed. Though he gets mad and yells, when we are making lots of trouble, I always know he loves and cares for me. My dad is and I hope will always be athletic and enjoys watching many sports with my brother and I. Something I will always remember was when my dad went to my first ever travel soccer game. He did not know almost anything about soccer and as he has said, when he was in grade school and high school no one ever paid attention to soccer. After my game my dad and I went to a diner and we talked all about my game and all the different rules in soccer. We chatted about how I scored my first goal and it was a moment where I feel like I really connected with my dad. This is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. My Family Essay Anybody who knows me, knows that my family situation is pretty crazy. Just describing my immediate family sometimes baffles people and leads me into having to explain in more detail the constitution of my family. For starters, My mother came from the Philippines and my Dad is currently 77. Let's dive into the details of my family. The category my immediate family best fits into is a blended family. Mainly because of my father. He has remarried 3 times but has finally settled down with my mother. He has 2 sons with his ex wife which makes them my half brothers. Since my Dad is 77, my brothers are in their late 40's so it's pretty difficult to explain to people my brothers ages. What is even more shocking to people is that both of my half brothers have children. Both of which are older than me. The look on people's faces when I tell them that I am an uncle with nieces that are both a year older than me is amusing. However, what I consider my immediate family, my mom and my dad, we are a isolated nuclear two earner family if you could combine the two. My mother has never had a divorce and has been with my father for 23 years now. They are both great, supportive, and loving parents. In my family, there is definitely a solidified instrumental family role. It lays within my dad. Although me and him collaborate when making decisions for the household, he is usually the man of the house. He is the breadwinner in the family as he owns how own automobile shop for over 50 years. Despite these roadblocks, my self worth and determination was unshaken. Luckily for me, the lessons that I had learned in my family life provided a solid foundation for my character. During my first years at my Christian school, I readily imposed my opinions on gender equality into every debate or argument I stumbled upon. Ok, maybe it was more like the arguments and debates that I started. I showered my unlucky opponent with Bible verses supporting women, examples of successful females, and my own personal experiences with unflagging women. After a while, I began really enjoying and reveling in these often occurring, heated discussions. I even began seeking them out. This game of bait and catch that I played, however, left me with few friends and even fewer minds changed. It was in my freshman English class that I had a revelation during one of our class discussions. The teacher had asked us to pick the gender that we viewed as the better one and walk to the wall designated to that specific sex, and I was furious. I stood up, when it was time to pick our side and watched every single one of my classmates saunter over to the wall assigned to the male gender. As each kid took their spot against the wall, I sat down in my desk located in the middle of the room. This caused my teacher some concern. As my confused teacher approached my desk, I grew more and more incandescent. She proceeded to ask Get more content on HelpWriting.net
