My Family
Everyone has someone in their life that makes you feel better when you're sad or cares about you eternally, no matter what. That is my family,
specifically my Dad, my Mom and my brother Brian. Some people take their family for granted, but I know that without my parents I wouldn't
have a roof over my head or food on a plate or even clothes on my back. Without my brother, I might not have played any sports, my brother is the
one who introduced all types of sports into my life and motivated me to do my best. Everyone has an idol or someone that they look up to, someone
that I look up to is my father. He is everything that I want to be when I grow up, kind, athletic, close with his family, and cares for everybody. My father
likes being with his family and enjoys caring for us. He gets joy when we succeed. Though he gets mad and yells, when we are making lots of trouble,
I always know he loves and cares for me. My dad is and I hope will always be athletic and enjoys watching many sports with my brother and I.
Something I will always remember was when my dad went to my first ever travel soccer game. He did not know almost anything about soccer and
as he has said, when he was in grade school and high school no one ever paid attention to soccer. After my game my dad and I went to a diner and we
talked all about my game and all the different rules in soccer. We chatted about how I scored my first goal and it was a moment where I feel like I
really connected with my dad. This is

Every member of my family is so different. Even though we are all so different, we are a beautiful collection of individuals who form the perfect unit
despite our very diverse backgrounds. By studying the migration history of my grandparents, father, mother, and myself, I have come to appreciate
each story and the assistance they have had in helping me get to where I am today.
My grandpa, Clifton Francis Jr. was born in a small town, Crothersville, Indiana and has lived in Indiana for almost his whole life. Here he attended
Crothersville Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. After graduating from high school, he decided to join the Navy and was stationed
at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville in Florida the summer after graduation. In discussing the experience with my grandpa, he explained how it was a
challenging and demanding cultural experience that he wouldn't have traded for anything. The rigorous time commitment and difficult daily schedule
was like nothing that he had ever experienced before. However, joining the navy helped him become who he is today because of the experiences that
he faced. One day before he left for the Navy he went to visit his sister at work and there, he met my grandma for the first time. Although their initial
interaction was short, but it must have been memorable as he asked her to write him while he was away. Their long–distance friendship blossomed into
a long–distance relationship and they continued to write each

I grew up in a small family in India. There were a plenty of things that I was able to learn from my family. I wouldn't be here, where I am now,
without my family. Family defines the most important things in this world. Family is the place where everyone can learn and express the things they
learn. I'm grateful for my family. But I still remember the time my parents told me that "we are going to America, the land of dreams." I was only
thirteen years old then. All those years, I lived in my own country, and quickly moving to America was really hard for me. When I came to know this,
it was really shocking to me, I couldn't stop thinking about my life in America. I never stopped to think about the people I was leaving behind, my

Recollecting a moment without my family is hard because they were always there for me. I never had to solve a problem in my family due to it
being so perfect for me. In a society, there would be many struggles and difficulties in families, but I believe family is something that holds us.
It was very difficult for me to accept the reality that I can't have the life I had in India. So, that transformation of the new lifestyle was extremely
hard. Holy Family University also states, "A community united by a common mission." Even though family should be united in one; my family
wasn't able to stay unite because of the different lifestyle in America. But throughout this semester at Holy Family University, I am able to see how
supportive and caring each faculty and staffs are. They are just a reflection of a family. The problem I am having with my family from the time we
moved to America is the lack of communication because of the busy lifestyle here. Most of the nights we go to bed without seeing or talk to each
other. But, on Saturdays and Sundays, thankfully, we try our best to give time for each other before going to bed. Societies are facing numerous
divorces every day. I would say, the lack of communication is the main reason for all these divorces.
Every generation has different concepts on everything and their lifestyle changes too. People go with the flow of the new ways of living that is
followed by people around them. But I wouldn't encourage

My Family And My Life
When I was 8, my family and I lived in small house in the city town. Our life was a little bit hard, everyone in the family is always busy, my mom
went to work most of the time and my dad, too. My sister and me we both have school during the day and tutoring class after school. Sometimes, I
only see my mom twice a week even though she is home everyday at midnight because of her busy work. My dad is in charged of taking me to
school and picking me up after tutoring class, but he also have his job, he have to get everything in schedule in order to get everything in fit. On
weekend, I am alone by myself at home or sometimes I go to my friend house and stayed there throughout the week. That was how our life was until my
family got into a situation that I was thinking it is going to be bad, but it came out that I have learned a wonderful life lesson.
One day I came home from school and put my backpack on the hanger, slowly walk into the kitchen where my mom is making food for our family
dinner. I sat down and say "Hi mom, I'm home" with an excited but also tired voice. Then suddenly, she turns back and walk to me, sit down on the
chair and asked "So, how was school school today, my dear? Did you have fun? What have you learned today?" with an lovely voice. "School was
fine today, I learned a lot from all of my classes, but the most important thing that I have learned today was in my math class, my teacher taught me

I remember our last goodbye, the last words exchanged, the ending of something beautiful. People you care about have big impacts on who you turn
out to be. They guide you, teach you, protect you, love you, hurt you, but most importantly they are there for you. He was gone before I could even
blink. And left me all alone. But family helped me through this journey and one day I hope to help others like others have helped me.
My family is my everything. They know me better than I know myself, they are the people who watched me grow and achieve, they have watched me

I was there that morning, the morning he took his last breath. It's a stinging memory in the back of my head. I didn't know that it would happen, I
didn't know things would change so quickly, and I certainly had no idea what a funeral was, and I definitely didn't know why everyone was sad. I
was eight, I had never experienced death before, I was young and vulnerable. No one told me he was gone forever. I knew he was 'gone'. but I
didn't really understand what 'gone' meant. I was very close to my dad. I was an only child and got all of his love and attention. He taught me how
to ride my first bike, and bought me everything I could have ever wanted, and let me paint his nails and do his makeup. No one told me it would
hurt to miss someone that much. I felt like no one understood what I was going through. I was heartbroken, I was in denial, I was heartbroken, I
begged, I pleaded, I was angry, I was depressed. We did everything together, and he always knew how to cheer me up. I had to go through many
counseling sessions, I had to talk about my feelings, and how I felt, and that made it worse for me. My mom did decide at one point to stop forcing
me to talk about it and deal with this on my own because nothing seemed to work for me. It took a lot of time for me to get to that final stage of grief.

Over the past years of my life, many things have changed, including my friends, lifestyle, religious beliefs and jobs. With everything constantly
changing around me, there is one thing that has always stayed the same: my family. When I think about my most blissful moments in life, they all
involve my family. My relationship with my parents, brother, husband and children is something that I learn to treasure more and more every day.
There are many significant things in my life, but the most important relationship to me is family.
My family can bring out the best and worst in me. Although you cannot choose your family, they are the people I can relate to the most. My family,
they are my cheerleaders, always cheering me on wanting only the best for me. At this present time my family has made me who I am today. Without
my dad pushing me to excel in life or my brother forcing me to apply to Springfield College, I would not be where I am today. They have challenged
me, loved me and made me a better person. They have guided me through life and have constantly been my number one fans in all of my life decisions.
There has never once been a moment in my life where my family was not there when I needed them. They have been there with me through my best
times, worst times and times where I did not think I had anyone. As I got older, the more I come to the realization that people who say they will
always be there for you are not always there for you. But if it is two in the morning or

Essay on My Family History
My Family History
Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have a better perspective of your life. Having a clear
understanding of your family background allows you to better appreciate the things that you would normally take for granted. The house, the car, and
the average clothing may look better when one sees the sacrifices their family has made. They will see that their family has worked very hard just so
their family can experience the better things in life. A persons roots and origin is one of the most important things to explore. It alone can bring you
closer to self–discovery.

One of these is that on Thanksgiving everybody comes together to my parents' house in New Jersey for a huge feast. On Christmas only my mother and
the children (me and my brother) travel to Illinois to spend a week with my grandparents. On New Years Eve we all get together at my parents'
house in New Jersey and toast to the New Year with champagne and apple cider. During Labor Day weekend all of my family travels to South
Jersey to my grandfathers' condo. We usually spend all of our time on the beach and barbequing, except on Sunday when we go to church. After
all, my grandfather is a minister. One of our biggest family traditions is going back to Puerto Rico. Every year my mother and I travel back to
Puerto Rico for a portion of our summer vacation. Now that I am older I travel there more often and stay there much longer. My father never joins
because he doesn't like my mothers side of the father too much and he thinks that we when we speak Spanish we are all plotting against him. Of
course that's not true though. My bother doesn't speak Spanish so he doesn't like to go either. I guess that tradition is one that belongs solely to my
mother and I.
The role of the people in family basically stayed the same for most of the generations with a little change in the later generations. Earlier the males

My Family Heritage
Family Defined
The word family has changed so much in the past century. A family back in the 1950's was probably considered a husband, wife, and one or more
children. Times have changed and families have become much different. The Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others book definesfamily as
a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time in a common living space who are usually, but not
always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe, Beebe & Redmond, 243). Families can be broken up into five different types. The first is the
traditional family, which includes a mother, father, and their biological children. Next, is the blended family which includes...show more content...
William, known as Bill, was born on July 20, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN. He worked in the plaster/stucco business for over 25 years before working
at Northwest Airlines. His wife's maiden name was Lorraine Mulcahy. Lorraine was born on August 13, 1922 in St. Paul, MN. Lorraine went to
college at the University of Minnesota where she got her Bachelor of Science degree and became a dental hygienist. My grandma "Lo" is the
genealogy nut in our family. She has searched for birthdates, marriage licenses, and other documents of her grandparents. I called grandma Lo to get
some information on my great–grandparents and family stories. I found out I was part Norwegian and I never even knew it! Grandma Lo's parents
were Edward Mulcahy and Olga Shermoen. Her father Ed was born on April 15, 1880 in Minneapolis, MN. Ed worked as a claim agent for the Great
Northern Railroad in the twin cities. Olga was born on March 15, 1888 in Hawley, MN. She also worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a matron.
Edward was 100% Irish while Olga was 100% Norwegian. This makes my grandma Lorraine 50% Irish & 50% Norwegian. My grandpa Bill was
adopted in Minneapolis so his genealogy is unknown. He was told by his adopted parents that he was mostly Irish. If we pretended Bill was 100%
Irish, this would make my mom 75% Irish and 25% Norwegian.

All of my life all I ever wanted was to be accepted by my family. Both families said negative things about me all the time. My mother's side of the
family would say things like, "oh, she is crazy just like her father's side". In other words they were saying I was mentally challenged and had
behavioral health problems. That was something I didn't see, understand nor did I know anything about. Then my father's side of the family would say
things like, "oh, she is just like her mother's side a whore sleeping around with men". We know now where that came from because my father was
married to someone else when I was conceived. Oh well, it is what it is. So many negative seeds were planted in my life just by other people speaking
them over me. There were many times in my life I wanted to quit and give up, I felt like life had no purpose for me at all. Something was always going
wrong and I was always sad and depressed. I knew I was not whole or complete. There were missing pieces to my puzzled life, I could not figure out
what or where they were or even how to get rid of all that I had gone through. One day God spoke to me and said, "Many are called, but few are
chosen", and He went on to say "I have chosen you". I found out later in life that if you are "CHOSEN", by GOD that "Quitting is Not an Option".
When Chosen by God he will complete the work in us that He has ordained before the foundations of the earth.

Characteristics Of My Family Essay
Family is a truly special thing. Essentially, what makes a family so unique is that unification of a group of individuals with so many variant
characteristics. In fact, each and every one of our unique relatives, in their own individual way, contributes to that extraordinary bond that families
share. Our blood may define family, but it's those unique relationships: like the one with the controlling grandmother, that crazy aunt, or even that
inappropriately laid back uncle, that genuinely gives family a special sense of belonging. Every single family has a head, an alpha male or
female. This individual tends to believe the universe revolves around them, and that they resemble absolute royalty when compared to the rest of
the family. In my case, this is my grandma Rosaura. The fact is, that she is the oldest, most experienced person in our family. Correspondingly, she
is praised by the entire family as well as looked up to for guidance because of her " extensive knowledge". In fact, she was a very successful lawyer
who was able to raise four children by herself; two characteristics of my grandmother's life which she would never let us forget. Thus, emphasizing
herself as the epitome of what you would call "a woman who don't need no man". Furthermore, because of her position in the family, she's also
developed some very interesting traits over time. To begin with, she's extremely controlling and authoritarian. My mother is 46 and my grandma still

Who I Am My Family? Essay
When I think about who I am in my family, I recall my experiences, good and bad, that has made me who I am today. To begin with, my parents
divorced when I was a toddler, so my family consists of the maternal side of the tree; they're too loud, too proud, and full of drama, but I 'm sure that
all families have brown spots–don't they? When is a family considered dysfunctional? Is there some secret sauce that makes up a functional family?
I have always been curious about how different my family and my life would've been if my parents had a better marriage. I was only three when
they divorced, so I missed the opportunity to know my father or any of his family. Aside from my grandparents, mom 's side of the family is loud and
hateful. I 'm calm and don't enjoy being around draining negativity, but anytime there's dissent, I 'm the mediator. I 've always been the release for my
family's emotions, and mine is my grandparents.
My grandparents have four children: my two uncles, my aunt, and my mother. I remember a time when my family would often get–together at my
aunt's house. They'd listen to music, play cards (usually pinochle) and just have an enjoyable time in each others company. My cousin Danielle had
an attic bedroom. I can still smell the wood floors as I'd creak my way up the narrow staircase that lead to her room. It seemed like every time we
visited, she 'd always have one of her friends with her and I'd be left with my chin in my hand. She's seven years older than me,

I was born into a "happy" family that was actually a web of lies, which unfolded itself through a divorce. My parents' marriage was based on the
fact that my father needed a permanent residency card to stay in the United States. Some people may view this as a devastating event; however I
have chosen to embrace being an American and a Ghanaian. Coming from two different backgrounds was a challenge, because of the different values
and morals each share. These challenges have left me to understand my true purpose concerning my two cultures. I feel fortunate enough to grow up

Such as attending a public college or becoming President of the United States. Education has therefore played an important role in my life and has been
highly valued in my family.
While the expectations of my American and Ghanaian family members were so high, their affirmation was not always there. As a child of divorced
parents, my mother raised and supported me. My father was always there mentally, emotionally, and physically, but I was financially fully
dependent on my mother. Although she had an education, we still struggled. Sometimes we didn't know where our next meal was coming from
and had to rely on others. We moved several times while I was growing up and at times, I would be left at a relative's house because of my mother's
need to get us financially stable. Things improved, I remained committed to working hard in school, and the expectations never changed. Education
has brought me, given me, and gifted me with empowerment, leadership, confidence; greater understanding of social issues and tools to work
towards social justice. As many educators say, education is the key to success. I believe that not only is it the key to success, but it's also the key to
happiness. College will help me meet my high education and career expectations that I have for myself which is to ultimately get my Professional
degree, and make a global difference. It will also help to meet my families as well. College will help me

The Story Of My Family
The story of my family is one that I do not tell often. Although my entire family may not be in agreement at all ties, I know that there is a purpose
for every single person in my family; there is a reason that I have the ties I do. Each person and each event builds on the continuous story of my life.
Each new day is another chance to embark upon a journey that has the potential to change my life forever. Every time I see my parents, I tell them
that I love them. Life itself is so fragile, and we never know what is in store for the future. When I think of my family narrative, I think of courage,
resilience, love, compassion, joy, difficulty, and many more emotions and reactions. This is the story of my family as it relates to Marriage and
Families today.
My parents were married on January 15, 1994. They have been married for 22 years now, and the beginning of my family was signified on that day.
My parents were married for 2 years before having their first child. Twenty years later, I am still their only child. My mother's pregnancy with me was
filled with stress and unexpected turns. I was born prematurely at two pounds and twelve ounces; an entire two months prematurely. My mom had to
stay with me in the hospital for months because I developed jaundice and other conditions that deteriorated my health. The problems did not end there,
however. I would love to believe that racism and colorism are not issues anymore, but sadly they are even today. The sight of my pale skin led

Everyone has a story of who they are and how they came to be. We all grow up wanting the perfect family, the perfect parents, perfect house, perfect
siblings, and to top it off, the white picket fence that surrounds the house. Then life sets in and you realize that life is not all rainbows and unicorns.
The people in our life and the environment that we grow up in, is what shapes us to the person we are today. Factors that influence how we are as a
person are our family, parents, and society. I come from a family that is hard to describe. We all get along and know when it is time to unite as a

Society today is a huge influential part in everyone's life. Others may say that they are their own person and that no one has affected who they are

our own culture. Knowing this I decided that the group that I want to describe is my own family. Which consist of four people, two adults and two
children. We have the head of our house hold which is my husband, he supports our entire family. He works many hours to be able to support us.
Then is me, I attend college full time but am also a mother and I take care of everything at home. Then there 's my older son he is 9 years old and his
only job is to do good in school and help around the house. Then there 's my daughter she is 6 and like her brother her main job is to also do good in
school as well as some chores around the house.
Values are what makes us, there basically the foundation of the family. Most of our values have been passed down from generations before us. We
decide what we choose to pass down to our kids some of the values can be the same just in different order for example for some people religion is very
important it can be in the top 5 of their values but for some is may not be as important and it can be on their

My Family

  • 1. My Family Everyone has someone in their life that makes you feel better when you're sad or cares about you eternally, no matter what. That is my family, specifically my Dad, my Mom and my brother Brian. Some people take their family for granted, but I know that without my parents I wouldn't have a roof over my head or food on a plate or even clothes on my back. Without my brother, I might not have played any sports, my brother is the one who introduced all types of sports into my life and motivated me to do my best. Everyone has an idol or someone that they look up to, someone that I look up to is my father. He is everything that I want to be when I grow up, kind, athletic, close with his family, and cares for everybody. My father likes being with his family and enjoys caring for us. He gets joy when we succeed. Though he gets mad and yells, when we are making lots of trouble, I always know he loves and cares for me. My dad is and I hope will always be athletic and enjoys watching many sports with my brother and I. Something I will always remember was when my dad went to my first ever travel soccer game. He did not know almost anything about soccer and as he has said, when he was in grade school and high school no one ever paid attention to soccer. After my game my dad and I went to a diner and we talked all about my game and all the different rules in soccer. We chatted about how I scored my first goal and it was a moment where I feel like I really connected with my dad. This is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Family Essay Every member of my family is so different. Even though we are all so different, we are a beautiful collection of individuals who form the perfect unit despite our very diverse backgrounds. By studying the migration history of my grandparents, father, mother, and myself, I have come to appreciate each story and the assistance they have had in helping me get to where I am today. My grandpa, Clifton Francis Jr. was born in a small town, Crothersville, Indiana and has lived in Indiana for almost his whole life. Here he attended Crothersville Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. After graduating from high school, he decided to join the Navy and was stationed at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville in Florida the summer after graduation. In discussing the experience with my grandpa, he explained how it was a challenging and demanding cultural experience that he wouldn't have traded for anything. The rigorous time commitment and difficult daily schedule was like nothing that he had ever experienced before. However, joining the navy helped him become who he is today because of the experiences that he faced. One day before he left for the Navy he went to visit his sister at work and there, he met my grandma for the first time. Although their initial interaction was short, but it must have been memorable as he asked her to write him while he was away. Their long–distance friendship blossomed into a long–distance relationship and they continued to write each Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Family Essay I grew up in a small family in India. There were a plenty of things that I was able to learn from my family. I wouldn't be here, where I am now, without my family. Family defines the most important things in this world. Family is the place where everyone can learn and express the things they learn. I'm grateful for my family. But I still remember the time my parents told me that "we are going to America, the land of dreams." I was only thirteen years old then. All those years, I lived in my own country, and quickly moving to America was really hard for me. When I came to know this, it was really shocking to me, I couldn't stop thinking about my life in America. I never stopped to think about the people I was leaving behind, my companions,...show more content... Recollecting a moment without my family is hard because they were always there for me. I never had to solve a problem in my family due to it being so perfect for me. In a society, there would be many struggles and difficulties in families, but I believe family is something that holds us. It was very difficult for me to accept the reality that I can't have the life I had in India. So, that transformation of the new lifestyle was extremely hard. Holy Family University also states, "A community united by a common mission." Even though family should be united in one; my family wasn't able to stay unite because of the different lifestyle in America. But throughout this semester at Holy Family University, I am able to see how supportive and caring each faculty and staffs are. They are just a reflection of a family. The problem I am having with my family from the time we moved to America is the lack of communication because of the busy lifestyle here. Most of the nights we go to bed without seeing or talk to each other. But, on Saturdays and Sundays, thankfully, we try our best to give time for each other before going to bed. Societies are facing numerous divorces every day. I would say, the lack of communication is the main reason for all these divorces. Every generation has different concepts on everything and their lifestyle changes too. People go with the flow of the new ways of living that is followed by people around them. But I wouldn't encourage Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Family And My Life When I was 8, my family and I lived in small house in the city town. Our life was a little bit hard, everyone in the family is always busy, my mom went to work most of the time and my dad, too. My sister and me we both have school during the day and tutoring class after school. Sometimes, I only see my mom twice a week even though she is home everyday at midnight because of her busy work. My dad is in charged of taking me to school and picking me up after tutoring class, but he also have his job, he have to get everything in schedule in order to get everything in fit. On weekend, I am alone by myself at home or sometimes I go to my friend house and stayed there throughout the week. That was how our life was until my family got into a situation that I was thinking it is going to be bad, but it came out that I have learned a wonderful life lesson. One day I came home from school and put my backpack on the hanger, slowly walk into the kitchen where my mom is making food for our family dinner. I sat down and say "Hi mom, I'm home" with an excited but also tired voice. Then suddenly, she turns back and walk to me, sit down on the chair and asked "So, how was school school today, my dear? Did you have fun? What have you learned today?" with an lovely voice. "School was fine today, I learned a lot from all of my classes, but the most important thing that I have learned today was in my math class, my teacher taught me how to write an equation using a formula that can help me in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Family Essay I remember our last goodbye, the last words exchanged, the ending of something beautiful. People you care about have big impacts on who you turn out to be. They guide you, teach you, protect you, love you, hurt you, but most importantly they are there for you. He was gone before I could even blink. And left me all alone. But family helped me through this journey and one day I hope to help others like others have helped me. My family is my everything. They know me better than I know myself, they are the people who watched me grow and achieve, they have watched me fail and make mistakes, they taught me how to cope, and how to love. They taught me right from wrong and helped my mother raise me. And they have continued to show love and...show more content... I was there that morning, the morning he took his last breath. It's a stinging memory in the back of my head. I didn't know that it would happen, I didn't know things would change so quickly, and I certainly had no idea what a funeral was, and I definitely didn't know why everyone was sad. I was eight, I had never experienced death before, I was young and vulnerable. No one told me he was gone forever. I knew he was 'gone'. but I didn't really understand what 'gone' meant. I was very close to my dad. I was an only child and got all of his love and attention. He taught me how to ride my first bike, and bought me everything I could have ever wanted, and let me paint his nails and do his makeup. No one told me it would hurt to miss someone that much. I felt like no one understood what I was going through. I was heartbroken, I was in denial, I was heartbroken, I begged, I pleaded, I was angry, I was depressed. We did everything together, and he always knew how to cheer me up. I had to go through many counseling sessions, I had to talk about my feelings, and how I felt, and that made it worse for me. My mom did decide at one point to stop forcing me to talk about it and deal with this on my own because nothing seemed to work for me. It took a lot of time for me to get to that final stage of grief. Acceptance. After three or four years I could Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My Family Essay Over the past years of my life, many things have changed, including my friends, lifestyle, religious beliefs and jobs. With everything constantly changing around me, there is one thing that has always stayed the same: my family. When I think about my most blissful moments in life, they all involve my family. My relationship with my parents, brother, husband and children is something that I learn to treasure more and more every day. There are many significant things in my life, but the most important relationship to me is family. My family can bring out the best and worst in me. Although you cannot choose your family, they are the people I can relate to the most. My family, they are my cheerleaders, always cheering me on wanting only the best for me. At this present time my family has made me who I am today. Without my dad pushing me to excel in life or my brother forcing me to apply to Springfield College, I would not be where I am today. They have challenged me, loved me and made me a better person. They have guided me through life and have constantly been my number one fans in all of my life decisions. There has never once been a moment in my life where my family was not there when I needed them. They have been there with me through my best times, worst times and times where I did not think I had anyone. As I got older, the more I come to the realization that people who say they will always be there for you are not always there for you. But if it is two in the morning or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Essay on My Family History My Family History Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have a better perspective of your life. Having a clear understanding of your family background allows you to better appreciate the things that you would normally take for granted. The house, the car, and the average clothing may look better when one sees the sacrifices their family has made. They will see that their family has worked very hard just so their family can experience the better things in life. A persons roots and origin is one of the most important things to explore. It alone can bring you closer to self–discovery. There are two sides to a person's family and one side of my family has...show more content... One of these is that on Thanksgiving everybody comes together to my parents' house in New Jersey for a huge feast. On Christmas only my mother and the children (me and my brother) travel to Illinois to spend a week with my grandparents. On New Years Eve we all get together at my parents' house in New Jersey and toast to the New Year with champagne and apple cider. During Labor Day weekend all of my family travels to South Jersey to my grandfathers' condo. We usually spend all of our time on the beach and barbequing, except on Sunday when we go to church. After all, my grandfather is a minister. One of our biggest family traditions is going back to Puerto Rico. Every year my mother and I travel back to Puerto Rico for a portion of our summer vacation. Now that I am older I travel there more often and stay there much longer. My father never joins because he doesn't like my mothers side of the father too much and he thinks that we when we speak Spanish we are all plotting against him. Of course that's not true though. My bother doesn't speak Spanish so he doesn't like to go either. I guess that tradition is one that belongs solely to my mother and I. The role of the people in family basically stayed the same for most of the generations with a little change in the later generations. • 8. Essay about My Family Heritage My Family Heritage Family Defined The word family has changed so much in the past century. A family back in the 1950's was probably considered a husband, wife, and one or more children. Times have changed and families have become much different. The Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others book definesfamily as a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time in a common living space who are usually, but not always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe, Beebe & Redmond, 243). Families can be broken up into five different types. The first is the traditional family, which includes a mother, father, and their biological children. Next, is the blended family which includes...show more content... William, known as Bill, was born on July 20, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN. He worked in the plaster/stucco business for over 25 years before working at Northwest Airlines. His wife's maiden name was Lorraine Mulcahy. Lorraine was born on August 13, 1922 in St. Paul, MN. Lorraine went to college at the University of Minnesota where she got her Bachelor of Science degree and became a dental hygienist. My grandma "Lo" is the genealogy nut in our family. She has searched for birthdates, marriage licenses, and other documents of her grandparents. I called grandma Lo to get some information on my great–grandparents and family stories. I found out I was part Norwegian and I never even knew it! Grandma Lo's parents were Edward Mulcahy and Olga Shermoen. Her father Ed was born on April 15, 1880 in Minneapolis, MN. Ed worked as a claim agent for the Great Northern Railroad in the twin cities. Olga was born on March 15, 1888 in Hawley, MN. She also worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a matron. Edward was 100% Irish while Olga was 100% Norwegian. This makes my grandma Lorraine 50% Irish & 50% Norwegian. My grandpa Bill was adopted in Minneapolis so his genealogy is unknown. He was told by his adopted parents that he was mostly Irish. If we pretended Bill was 100% Irish, this would make my mom 75% Irish and 25% Norwegian. • 10. My Family Essay All of my life all I ever wanted was to be accepted by my family. Both families said negative things about me all the time. My mother's side of the family would say things like, "oh, she is crazy just like her father's side". In other words they were saying I was mentally challenged and had behavioral health problems. That was something I didn't see, understand nor did I know anything about. Then my father's side of the family would say things like, "oh, she is just like her mother's side a whore sleeping around with men". We know now where that came from because my father was married to someone else when I was conceived. Oh well, it is what it is. So many negative seeds were planted in my life just by other people speaking them over me. There were many times in my life I wanted to quit and give up, I felt like life had no purpose for me at all. Something was always going wrong and I was always sad and depressed. I knew I was not whole or complete. There were missing pieces to my puzzled life, I could not figure out what or where they were or even how to get rid of all that I had gone through. One day God spoke to me and said, "Many are called, but few are chosen", and He went on to say "I have chosen you". I found out later in life that if you are "CHOSEN", by GOD that "Quitting is Not an Option". When Chosen by God he will complete the work in us that He has ordained before the foundations of the earth. I Before I formed you in the womb, I knew Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Characteristics Of My Family Essay Family is a truly special thing. Essentially, what makes a family so unique is that unification of a group of individuals with so many variant characteristics. In fact, each and every one of our unique relatives, in their own individual way, contributes to that extraordinary bond that families share. Our blood may define family, but it's those unique relationships: like the one with the controlling grandmother, that crazy aunt, or even that inappropriately laid back uncle, that genuinely gives family a special sense of belonging. Every single family has a head, an alpha male or female. This individual tends to believe the universe revolves around them, and that they resemble absolute royalty when compared to the rest of the family. In my case, this is my grandma Rosaura. The fact is, that she is the oldest, most experienced person in our family. Correspondingly, she is praised by the entire family as well as looked up to for guidance because of her " extensive knowledge". In fact, she was a very successful lawyer who was able to raise four children by herself; two characteristics of my grandmother's life which she would never let us forget. Thus, emphasizing herself as the epitome of what you would call "a woman who don't need no man". Furthermore, because of her position in the family, she's also developed some very interesting traits over time. To begin with, she's extremely controlling and authoritarian. My mother is 46 and my grandma still finds ways to boss her Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Who I Am My Family? Essay When I think about who I am in my family, I recall my experiences, good and bad, that has made me who I am today. To begin with, my parents divorced when I was a toddler, so my family consists of the maternal side of the tree; they're too loud, too proud, and full of drama, but I 'm sure that all families have brown spots–don't they? When is a family considered dysfunctional? Is there some secret sauce that makes up a functional family? I have always been curious about how different my family and my life would've been if my parents had a better marriage. I was only three when they divorced, so I missed the opportunity to know my father or any of his family. Aside from my grandparents, mom 's side of the family is loud and hateful. I 'm calm and don't enjoy being around draining negativity, but anytime there's dissent, I 'm the mediator. I 've always been the release for my family's emotions, and mine is my grandparents. My grandparents have four children: my two uncles, my aunt, and my mother. I remember a time when my family would often get–together at my aunt's house. They'd listen to music, play cards (usually pinochle) and just have an enjoyable time in each others company. My cousin Danielle had an attic bedroom. I can still smell the wood floors as I'd creak my way up the narrow staircase that lead to her room. It seemed like every time we visited, she 'd always have one of her friends with her and I'd be left with my chin in my hand. She's seven years older than me, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. My Family Essay examples I was born into a "happy" family that was actually a web of lies, which unfolded itself through a divorce. My parents' marriage was based on the fact that my father needed a permanent residency card to stay in the United States. Some people may view this as a devastating event; however I have chosen to embrace being an American and a Ghanaian. Coming from two different backgrounds was a challenge, because of the different values and morals each share. These challenges have left me to understand my true purpose concerning my two cultures. I feel fortunate enough to grow up with two different aspects on life itself. Throughout life I was considered to be the "one" on both sides of my families. I was the one who was supposed to accomplish...show more content... Such as attending a public college or becoming President of the United States. Education has therefore played an important role in my life and has been highly valued in my family. While the expectations of my American and Ghanaian family members were so high, their affirmation was not always there. As a child of divorced parents, my mother raised and supported me. My father was always there mentally, emotionally, and physically, but I was financially fully dependent on my mother. Although she had an education, we still struggled. Sometimes we didn't know where our next meal was coming from and had to rely on others. We moved several times while I was growing up and at times, I would be left at a relative's house because of my mother's need to get us financially stable. Things improved, I remained committed to working hard in school, and the expectations never changed. Education has brought me, given me, and gifted me with empowerment, leadership, confidence; greater understanding of social issues and tools to work towards social justice. As many educators say, education is the key to success. I believe that not only is it the key to success, but it's also the key to happiness. College will help me meet my high education and career expectations that I have for myself which is to ultimately get my Professional degree, and make a global difference. It will also help to meet my families as well. College will help me Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. The Story Of My Family The story of my family is one that I do not tell often. Although my entire family may not be in agreement at all ties, I know that there is a purpose for every single person in my family; there is a reason that I have the ties I do. Each person and each event builds on the continuous story of my life. Each new day is another chance to embark upon a journey that has the potential to change my life forever. Every time I see my parents, I tell them that I love them. Life itself is so fragile, and we never know what is in store for the future. When I think of my family narrative, I think of courage, resilience, love, compassion, joy, difficulty, and many more emotions and reactions. This is the story of my family as it relates to Marriage and Families today. My parents were married on January 15, 1994. They have been married for 22 years now, and the beginning of my family was signified on that day. My parents were married for 2 years before having their first child. My mom had to stay with me in the hospital for months because I developed jaundice and other conditions that deteriorated my health. The problems did not end there, however. • 16. Reflective Essay About My Family Everyone has a story of who they are and how they came to be. We all grow up wanting the perfect family, the perfect parents, perfect house, perfect siblings, and to top it off, the white picket fence that surrounds the house. Then life sets in and you realize that life is not all rainbows and unicorns. The people in our life and the environment that we grow up in, is what shapes us to the person we are today. Factors that influence how we are as a person are our family, parents, and society. I come from a family that is hard to describe. We all get along and know when it is time to unite as a family but at the same time the moment someone disagrees with one another, sides are chosen and it takes forever for us to make up. My mother on the other hand, wants nothing but for me to prosper in life and be happy. If I were to describe my mom with one word it would be, fighter. Everything my mother does is for the benefit of my brother and I. My mother has influenced me in many ways. She has taught me how to stand up for myself, to not be afraid of things that may frighten me, not to listen to what others have to say about me because in the long run, what I think about myself is all that matters. My mother is my biggest influencer and supporter and I will be forever grateful that I have such a great mom. Society today is a huge influential part in everyone's life. Others may say that they are their own person and that no one has affected who they are as a person because they are, "their own person," but society affects everyone to what they wear, what music they listen to, how they behave, and many other things. Society has influenced me to stand up for others and to be a voice for those who are too scared to share theirs. I see all over the news and social media, all the hate that goes on in the world just because someone is a little different then them. Society has also influenced the clothes I wear and music I listen Get more content on HelpWriting.net

When is a family considered dysfunctional? Is there some secret sauce that makes up a functional family? I have always been curious of how different my family and my life would've been if my parents had a better marriage. I was only three when they divorced, so I missed the opportunity to know my father or any of his family. From which side of my family did I inherit the most of my genes? Most of my mom 's side is loud and hateful. I'm more alike my grandparents; I'm a calm individual and don't enjoy being around draining negativity, but that's all my family consists of anymore. My grandparents have four children: my two uncles, my aunt, and my mother. I remember a time when my family would often get–together at my aunts house. They'd listen to music, play cards (usually pinochle) and just have a good time enjoying each others company. My cousin Danielle had an attic bedroom. She's seven years older than me, so we weren't close when I was an annoying five–year old. As soon as my hand would touch her doorknob, she 'd yell "You're not coming in my room Jessica!". It seemed like every time we visited, she 'd always have one of her friends with her and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be unique in this way, and we have always been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our parents. Despite these roadblocks, my self worth and determination was unshaken. Luckily for me, the lessons that I had learned in my family life provided a solid foundation for my character. During my first years at my Christian school, I readily imposed my opinions on gender equality into every debate or argument I stumbled upon. Ok, maybe it was more like the arguments and debates that I started. I showered my unlucky opponent with Bible verses supporting women, examples of successful females, and my own personal experiences with unflagging women. After a while, I began really enjoying and reveling in these often occurring, heated discussions. I even began seeking them out. This game of bait and catch that I played, however, left me with few friends and even fewer minds changed. It was in my freshman English class that I had a revelation during one of our class discussions. The teacher had asked us to pick the gender that we viewed as the better one and walk to the wall designated to that specific sex, and I was furious. I stood up, when it was time to pick our side and watched every single one of my classmates saunter over to the wall assigned to the male gender. As each kid took their spot against the wall, I sat down in my desk located in the middle of the room. This caused my teacher some concern. As my confused teacher approached my desk, I grew more and more incandescent. She proceeded to ask Get more content on HelpWriting.net
