I completed a final project for my government/economics class where I designed and created holiday cards to send to soldiers overseas. I learned that soldiers rarely receive mail and often request basic toiletries like deodorant in care packages. While proud of the cards I made and the donation raised, I wish I had started the project earlier to contribute more through additional fundraising or collaborating with other organizations supporting soldiers during the holidays.

- 2. Overall Experience Overall, I am proud of the work I did for my final project. I was proud of how the holiday cards turned out. I am thrilled to know that the money and time I spent on my project is going to a good cause. The entire time I worked on my project I would continuously think about how awesome it feels to give back to those that give all of themselves for our country.
- 3. What did I learn? I was fascinated when I read multiple articles about how soldiers oversea rarely receive any mail. I also learned that there are multiple organizations that try to give to soldiers and soldiers families over the holiday season. I was also surprised by some of the things soldiers asked for in their care packages, deodorant was probably requested the most.
- 4. How did I make this project meaningful to myself? I love to design and create art projects. In order to make this project meaningful to myself, I added my own personal touch. By creating the holiday cards, I was doing something I personally enjoy and knew that what I created was for a good purpose.
- 5. What could I have done better? I wish I had come up with this final project idea a little earlier so I could have done more with it. I could have possibly raised money in order to send larger care packages overseas or I could have tried to take part in multiple organizations that give back to soldiers during the holiday season.
