The magazine cover features a large image of Amy Winehouse dominating the page. The magazine title "Rolling Stone" appears in their standard typography at the top. The main cover line at the bottom highlights Amy Winehouse as the focus of the issue. Additional cover lines provide information on other stories in smaller text. The color scheme uses baby blue, black, and red consistently throughout the cover elements.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
1. The head mast reads ‘ROCK
SOUND’ which tells you instantly
what the magazine is going to be
about. Its in a roughened font
which suits the magazine genre of
punk rock. Its also in a white font
which contrast against the green
background. It’s the biggest text on
the cover because it’s the most
important.
The background of the cover is
different shades of green because
the main focus of the issue is Green
Day so it makes sense to use the
colour green.
The clothes they are wearing
are all black as well as their hair
because it represents their
genre of music which is slightly
gothic and heavy. The leader of
the group is stood at the front
which his hands on his belt
which looks cool.
The main cover line reads
‘Green Day’ because they are
the focus of the issue. They are
the one of the biggest bands in
the punk rock genre and will
appeal to many people
interested in punk rock to sell.
There are many cover lines
on the cover which are all
about other punk rock
bands, but they are a lot
smaller than the Green Day
cover line because they
aren’t as big.
The barcode is tucked away in
the bottom right corner
because its not necessary for
the reader, but only for
purchasing. It has the
magazines website on the
barcode just in case its needed.
2. The first thing you see on this
magazine is the huge image of Amy
Winehouse dominating the page.
She covers most of the head mast,
but Rolling Stone is a massively
known magazine and they use the
same typography for all their
magazine head mast’s so the reader
will know what it says
This box is just another cover line story
but in the format of a box to catch the
readers attention. It is slanted at an
angle to match other music magazines
style like Q and Kerrang, but it shows
the Rolling Stone’s maturity by using
basic black and white. The words that
are larger than the rest in the box show
importance to the cover line, ‘THAN
BUSH’ is the biggest to stand out to
reader.
Amy Winehouse is the main focus
of this magazine so the main
cover line is about her. It is placed
at the bottom of the page so you
can see her clearly. It is the
biggest text on the cover and uses
the same colour as the head mast
to show its importance in the
magazine.
The colour scheme in the
magazine is baby blue, black and
red with some white. The main
texts of the cover are in baby blue
to stand out the most, with the
cover line headings being in red
with the content of the cover line
being in black to show the
magazines maturity unlike other
music magazines.
Amy is wearing all black from her
makeup to her hair to clothes. This
could symbolise her personality as lot
of people know she is a drug user. Black
also has connotation of death which is
ironic since she died 4 years after this
issue.
3. The head mast is large and bold
which makes it look dramatic
which suits the genre of music
which is rap. The colour gradient
changes vertically from black to red
matching the colour scheme.
The header is a list of other artists you
can expect to see in this magazine for
example Puff Daddy.
The colour scheme is an obvious red and
black scheme with the more important
things on the cover being in red to catch the
readers the eye and priorities it, for example
the cover line ‘EMINEM’. The colour red has
connotations of death and blood and an
almost rebellious feel to it which links to the
genre of rap and its history especially in
America.
The background colour is a pale blue
colour because the main focus is Eminem
and he needs to stand out and he does
with this colour. It also contrast the red
and black and makes it look more sharp.
The main image is a medium shot of
Eminem sternly and directly looking at
the camera. His serious look tells the
reader that article is going to be serious.
He also has his arms folded which
typically looks cool and it shows off his
tattoos which gives across the rapper look
and shows a lot about him.
The main cover line ‘Eminem’ is
positioned on the left hand side of
the cover and is the biggest text on
the cover to stand out, matching the
red colour scheme, again to catch the
attention of the reader.
It also doesn’t interfere much with
the image and as placed behind the
image as you can see the M is slightly
covered. This follows a code and
convention of Vibe magazine and is
often seen a lot.
Eminem is wearing a black vest top. Vests
are stereotypically seen being worn
among rappers especially in previous
decades. The colour black has
connotations of death and maybe hints
something in the article as well as the
crucifix he is wearing round his neck.
4. The main image on the cover is a long shot
of Jessie J since she is probably the main
focus of the issue which is also shown with
her red cover line. She is wearing all black
gothic leather clothing which matches her
fierce face and which contrasts her type of
music, maybe she’s changed. She is wearing
red lipstick which matches the colour
scheme and the Q logo.
The head mast is the biggest typography
on the cover with the traditional, unique
white Q, before a red square. This is the
code and conventions of Q magazine as
the head mast is rarely different. The
red background of the head mast is very
contrasting from the white and looks
sharp and attentive.
The main cover lines for this issue are
Muse, Jessie J and Arcade Fire, but the
main cover line out of the three is
Jessie J because its in a red font to
single it out unlike the other two which
are just black. It being red can compare
it to the head mast meaning it just as
much importance as the head mast.
The cover lines are positioned on the
left hand side of the cover out of the
way of the images. There are only
three, making the information basic
and easier to read for the reader
before they purchase it. Most
magazines have the cover lines on the
left hand side because its often the
first side the reader reads and follows
the codes and conventions.
The banner contrasts the rest of the
magazine with a bright yellow colour
which stands out from the rest of
the cover to draw the reader to it
straight away, since it probably
includes some important
information concerning the
magazine that the reader should be
able to see quickly in order to want
to buy it.
Again the barcode is situated in the
bottom corner of the cover away from
everything else that’s going on which is
a common code of convention in all
magazines because its irrelevant to the
stories of the magazine
