Enhanced role of the RC in the governance process of
FAO.
Reviews the situation in the Region regarding matters
pertaining to the Organization’s mandate
Provides advice and action-oriented recommendations
Conference : global policy/regulatory matters
Council : priorities, programmes and budgets.

• ARC provides regional perspectives on FAO’s
strategies and priorities
• ARC formulates concrete recommendations on
regional results (enhanced efficiency and
effectiveness).
• ARC exercises oversight of the functions and
activities of FAO in the region,

• These recommendations complement and inform the
discussions during ARC sessions on the Programme of
Work, the Regional Priority Framework and the
Regional initiatives conducted in the region.
• Regional technical commissions should be encouraged
to better consider the recommendations of the Regional
Conference.
• Cooperation of the Regional Conference with the other
governing bodies as well as other partners be
strengthened.

• Foundation for the work of ARC : AUC,
through NEPAD/NPCA CAADP.
• The FAO Multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) (sub-
regional levels) provide review and
recommendations for technical aspects and
issues of importance to the Regional Priorities
and the CAADP

R 1: ARC recommendations and guidance
provide a sound basis for decision-making by the
Council and the Conference.
