PRESENTER
Multimodal Text
A text may be defined as multimodal when it comprises more than
one mode. A multimodal text uses a combination of two or more
communication modes., for example print, image and spoken text as
in film or computer presentations.
1. Linguistic Mode
- This involves written and spoken language, including the choice of
words, sentence structure, and the way language is used. It focuses on how
text is structured and the type of language employed (formal, informal,
persuasive, etc.).
2. Visual Mode
- This mode uses images, color, layout, and other visual elements to
convey meaning. Visual aspects like pictures, icons, symbols, and colors
play a role in how a message is interpreted.
Five modes
3. Aural Mode
- This mode includes sound elements such as music, sound effects, pitch,
volume, and tone of voice. It focuses on how auditory elements contribute
to the meaning of the text, often used in podcasts, videos, or audio-based
content.
4. Spatial Mode
- This involves the organization and physical arrangement of elements
on a page or screen. It includes the layout, proximity, alignment, and the
way information is spaced and structured, affecting how the audience
navigates and understands the text.
5. Gestural Mode
- This mode refers to body language, facial expressions, gestures, and
movements. It is often seen in videos, performances, or live presentations
where non-verbal communication contributes to the meaning.
