Determine desirable and undesirable characteristics of web pages:
View and critique at least 5 web pages – note their URLS.
List features of at least 2 (one good, one bad)
Facebook:
URL: https://www.facebook.com/
Desirable Characteristics:
 First of all Facebook provides the facility of security. The user can access
only his own account not everyone. You can yourself change the security
mood. Its view is very simple & good.
 Facebook provides 360* view. The text & alignment in it is very smooth.
Facebook provides live video streaming. So, no additional app is needed
for this service.
 Facebook should also have Biometric login option for user through which
they can login by mean of their finger prints.
Facebook should have search option. In search option you can search any
person or page which is linked by Facebook by just entering the name.
Undesirable Characteristics:
 The information on Facebook about users is correct or incorrect. That’s
why Facebook contains a lot of fake accounts.
 Facebook needs a fast network or internet. It should not take time to
open in slow networks.
Good features:
 Facebook is a social account. It connects the people of the world closer to
each other.
 Facebook provides a platform through which people can share thoughts.
They can send or receive photos, videos or sound.
 Facebook is a source of news & information. It is one of the best sources
to stay update with latest updates & news.
Bad features:
 Many pictures are uploaded on Facebook every day, on opening those
virus-attached pictures, you create danger to your data and your
computer as Facebook or any other website can’t check for all kind of
viruses.
 Facebook is a useful and helpful tool but it becomes harmful if you begin
to waste your valuable time because the loss of your precious time can
lead to other problems , As you spend so much time in commenting ,
viewing others pictures , playing games or doing other stuff .
2) Wikipedia:

Desirable Characteristics:
 Wikipedia is a very simple website containing all the information you
needed. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia.
 This website do not provides the facility of logged in. So you can simply
access this website.
 Wikipedia is free content that everyone can change.
 You can create a book through this information or download this
information as PDF.
 This website also provides the information not only in English but also so
many languages.
Undesirable Characteristics:
 Wikipedia is free content that everyone can change. This may provide
incorrect information.
 It is too much simply made website.
 The information on this website is not simply written.
Good features:
 Wikipedia is a website containing the information you need that is full of
knowledge for everyone in the world. It has the knowledge of everything.
 This website is free for everyone.
Bad features:
 This website contains additional information that is irrelevant to you.
 There is lake of multimedia in this website some of them that is not
provided, Lack of color, font sizes, video about the information you want
etc.
3) w3Schools:
URL: https://www.w3Schools.com/
Desirable Characteristics:
 W3Schools website provides up-to-date software’s that can be used for
web development to the students & developers for their ease.
 This website provides the facility of offline mood, that’s mean you can
access the website when you have no internet connection.
 This website also provides the facility of practicing programing facility for
students. You can practice there just go to ”Try it yourself” editor.
Undesirable Characteristics:
 W3School website should not contain advertisements. The
advertisements altering students focus on the other side.
Good features:
 This website is good for learning. Especially for beginners of web
development.
 This website is simple & easy learning for students.
 It contains data with simple examples.
Bad features:
 This website does not contain the link of other websites.
 This website is lake of videos, pictures & audio which are more helpful in
study related data.
4) YouTube:
URL: https://www.youtube.com/
Desirable Characteristics:
 YouTube contains videos of all qualities. 360pixels, 480 pixels, 720pixels,
HD, mp4. You can choose anyone of them.
 YouTube provides the videos that are relevant to him. If an IT student
search for IT related videos, this website show only IT related videos.
Undesirable Characteristics:
 On YouTube anyone can upload videos that are good or bad videos. The
bad videos may not good for teenagers or anyone.
 YouTube contains irrelevant advertisements.
Good features:
 YouTube is a platform that provides all study related videos for students
for better learning.
 YouTube provides live broadcasting.
Bad features:
 YouTube contains such videos that are not good for students or
teenagers.
 Sometimes YouTube contains such videos that provide wrong
information about something.
5) Twitter:
URL: https://www.twitter.com/
Desirable characteristics:
 Twitter is a social website that provides the facility that represents your
business at background and header.
 Twitter account is very easy to make. You can just make the account &
logged in.
 It provides the facility of advertisement that is helpful in business.
 Twitter is fast , When you publish on it , The people following your
business will receive the tweet immediately
Undesirable Characteristics:
 Twitter has limited message size. Only 140 character per post.
 Everyone ontwittercansee your message.
Good features:
 You don’t have to face the problem with bunch of advertisements.
 It is very easy to use.
 Twitter reaches beyond Web browsers, you can use Twitter on your
smartphones, Twitter apps exist for the smartphones and the tablets.
Bad features:
 Twitter provides no privacy.
 Twitter has limited message size. Only 140 character per post.
 When you start to use Twitter, You will get more involved into Twitter ,
So, when you become twitter addictive.

  • 2. Assignment: Determine desirable and undesirable characteristics of web pages: View and critique at least 5 web pages – note their URLS. List features of at least 2 (one good, one bad) Facebook: URL: https://www.facebook.com/ Desirable Characteristics:  First of all Facebook provides the facility of security. The user can access only his own account not everyone. You can yourself change the security mood. Its view is very simple & good.  Facebook provides 360* view. The text & alignment in it is very smooth. Facebook provides live video streaming. So, no additional app is needed for this service.  Facebook should also have Biometric login option for user through which they can login by mean of their finger prints. Facebook should have search option. In search option you can search any person or page which is linked by Facebook by just entering the name. Undesirable Characteristics:  The information on Facebook about users is correct or incorrect. That’s why Facebook contains a lot of fake accounts.  Facebook needs a fast network or internet. It should not take time to open in slow networks.
  • 3. Good features:  Facebook is a social account. It connects the people of the world closer to each other.  Facebook provides a platform through which people can share thoughts. They can send or receive photos, videos or sound.  Facebook is a source of news & information. It is one of the best sources to stay update with latest updates & news. Bad features:  Many pictures are uploaded on Facebook every day, on opening those virus-attached pictures, you create danger to your data and your computer as Facebook or any other website can’t check for all kind of viruses.  Facebook is a useful and helpful tool but it becomes harmful if you begin to waste your valuable time because the loss of your precious time can lead to other problems , As you spend so much time in commenting , viewing others pictures , playing games or doing other stuff . 2) Wikipedia: URL: https://www.wikipedia.org/ Desirable Characteristics:  Wikipedia is a very simple website containing all the information you needed. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia.  This website do not provides the facility of logged in. So you can simply access this website.  Wikipedia is free content that everyone can change.  You can create a book through this information or download this information as PDF.  This website also provides the information not only in English but also so many languages.
  • 4. Undesirable Characteristics:  Wikipedia is free content that everyone can change. This may provide incorrect information.  It is too much simply made website.  The information on this website is not simply written. Good features:  Wikipedia is a website containing the information you need that is full of knowledge for everyone in the world. It has the knowledge of everything.  This website is free for everyone. Bad features:  This website contains additional information that is irrelevant to you.  There is lake of multimedia in this website some of them that is not provided, Lack of color, font sizes, video about the information you want etc. 3) w3Schools: URL: https://www.w3Schools.com/ Desirable Characteristics:  W3Schools website provides up-to-date software’s that can be used for web development to the students & developers for their ease.  This website provides the facility of offline mood, that’s mean you can access the website when you have no internet connection.  This website also provides the facility of practicing programing facility for students. You can practice there just go to ”Try it yourself” editor. Undesirable Characteristics:  W3School website should not contain advertisements. The advertisements altering students focus on the other side.
  • 5. Good features:  This website is good for learning. Especially for beginners of web development.  This website is simple & easy learning for students.  It contains data with simple examples. Bad features:  This website does not contain the link of other websites.  This website is lake of videos, pictures & audio which are more helpful in study related data. 4) YouTube: URL: https://www.youtube.com/ Desirable Characteristics:  YouTube contains videos of all qualities. 360pixels, 480 pixels, 720pixels, HD, mp4. You can choose anyone of them.  YouTube provides the videos that are relevant to him. If an IT student search for IT related videos, this website show only IT related videos. Undesirable Characteristics:  On YouTube anyone can upload videos that are good or bad videos. The bad videos may not good for teenagers or anyone.  YouTube contains irrelevant advertisements. Good features:  YouTube is a platform that provides all study related videos for students for better learning.  YouTube provides live broadcasting.

Bad features:  YouTube contains such videos that are not good for students or teenagers.  Sometimes YouTube contains such videos that provide wrong information about something. 5) Twitter: URL: https://www.twitter.com/ Desirable characteristics:  Twitter is a social website that provides the facility that represents your business at background and header.  Twitter account is very easy to make. You can just make the account & logged in.  It provides the facility of advertisement that is helpful in business.  Twitter is fast , When you publish on it , The people following your business will receive the tweet immediately Undesirable Characteristics:  Twitter has limited message size. Only 140 character per post.  Everyone ontwittercansee your message. Good features:  You don’t have to face the problem with bunch of advertisements.  It is very easy to use.  Twitter reaches beyond Web browsers, you can use Twitter on your smartphones, Twitter apps exist for the smartphones and the tablets. Bad features:  Twitter provides no privacy.  Twitter has limited message size. Only 140 character per post.  When you start to use Twitter, You will get more involved into Twitter , So, when you become twitter addictive.
