Pearl Harbor is a harbor on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaii. On December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan launched a surprise attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor. The attack damaged or destroyed numerous U.S. battleships and brought the United States into World War II. The Japanese intended to neutralize the U.S. Pacific Fleet so that the U.S. would not interfere with Japanese expansion in the Pacific. However, the attack outraged the American public and united support for the war effort against Japan.
This is a presentation that I completed for EDU 290 in the Fall of 2009. The intent of this assignment was to create a lesson that could be used by a student that missed the classroom instruction due to illness.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. 4. Many Different Reasons
• President Roosevelt had banned all exports of scrap
iron, steel and oil to Japan.
• The United States wanted Japan to withdraw from
Indo-China which they had invaded earlier.
• The US opposed Japanese expansion.
• The Japanese were motivated to expand their empire
and had to make a decision between surrendering or
going to war with the United States.
5. • Pearl Harbor was the home of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Japan did not want the U.S. in the war because the
U.S at this time had the greatest Naval force. They
thought that if the Pacific Fleet was destroyed,
Americans would feel demoralized and not want to
fight.
They made a big mistake
when they thought that
this might be a reason to
attack America!

• The first attack wave consisted of 183 planes

10. Americas Reaction!
• This sneak attack against Hawaii brought an immediate
reaction of unprecedented unity from the American
people.
• Families from every class sent their sons and daughters
to war, women joined the industrial work force, and no
one was untouched by the effort to bring all of U. S.
resources to bear upon the war effort.
• The U. S. war plans strategy had been "Europe first",
but the Japanese attack caused a far greater effort to
be directed early on to the pacific.
• It fueled the will of the U. S. to completely defeat Japan
regardless of the cost.
11. The End of the War
• Four major imperial powers (German, Russian,
Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empires) had
been militarily and politically defeated.
• The Soviet Union emerged from the Russian
Empire.
• The map of central Europe was completely
redrawn into numerous smaller states.
• The League of Nations was formed in the hope of
preventing another such conflict.
• The Treaty of Versailles was created.
