- Occurred June 4th-7th, 1942
- 6 Months after the Japanese attack
   on Pearl Harbor
- Fought between the navies of the
   United States and the Empire of
   Japan
- Resulted in a significant victory for
   the Allied Powers

Why Did the Battle of Midway Occur?
- The Japanese Navy had the goal of removing the U.S.
  Navy as a threat to them at Midway.
- Believed another defeat would force the U.S. to
  negotiate peace.
- Japanese planned to lure the U.S. aircraft carriers into a
  trap since they missed attacking the carriers at Pearl
  Harbor.
