• Operation Overlord was the codename for the Battle of
Normandy also known as D-day.
• The Battle lasted for 80 days from June 6 to August 25, 1944.
• There were 226,386 total casualties in the Operation
• Overlord was the largest invasion in history with about 156,000
men with the allies.
• The British, Americans, and Canadians were the three
countries that fought.
• The Normandy invasion had been called the “Beginning of the
End” for Germany in World War 2 because it took a major front
from Germany causing their surrender.

7. The Atlantic Wall
• The Atlantic Wall was 2400-mile-long span
of defenses, Obstacles, and Walls to prevent
any outside force from pushing through
Germany's newfound borders.
• It included Gates, Mines, Ramps, Barbed
Wire, Pill Boxes(which were small areas that
were anti-tank and could be shot
from), Barbed Wire, Bunkers.

• While Planning, Eisenhower was slightly
delayed by bad weather conditions off the
coast of Normandy in the English Channel.
• Eisenhower gave the order to attack on
June 6th, 1944.
• He became President after Harry Truman in
1953

heavy objects making them stay in
place.
o Attach a boardwalk or Carrier on top
