Artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere, promising self-driving cars, medical breakthroughs, and new ways of working. But how do you separate hype from reality? How can your company apply AI to solve real business problems?
Here’s what AI learnings your business should keep in mind for 2017.
Study: The Future of VR, AR and Self-Driving CarsLinkedIn
We asked LinkedIn members worldwide about their levels of interest in the latest wave of technology: whether they’re using wearables, and whether they intend to buy self-driving cars and VR headsets as they become available. We asked them too about their attitudes to technology and to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the devices that they use. The answers were fascinating – and in many cases, surprising.
This SlideShare explores the full results of this study, including detailed market-by-market breakdowns of intention levels for each technology – and how attitudes change with age, location and seniority level. If you’re marketing a tech brand – or planning to use VR and wearables to reach a professional audience – then these are insights you won’t want to miss.

This original publication, aimed at data project leaders, describes a set of methods for agile modeling and delivery of an enterprise data warehouse, which together make it quicker to deliver, faster to load, and more easily adaptable to unexpected changes in source data, business rules or reporting/analytic requirements.
With this set of methods, the parts of data warehouse development that used to be the most resistant to sprint-sized / agile work breakdown -- data modeling and ETL -- are now completely agile, so that this tasking, too, can now be sized purely based on customer requirements, rather than the dictates of a traditional data warehouse architecture.

Testing the Data Warehouse―Big Data, Big ProblemsTechWell
Data warehouses have become a popular mechanism for collecting, organizing, and making information readily available for strategic decision making. The ability to review historical trends and monitor near real-time operational data has become a key competitive advantage for many organizations. Yet the methods for assuring the quality of these valuable assets are quite different from those of transactional systems. Ensuring that the appropriate testing is performed is a major challenge for many enterprises. Geoff Horne has led a number of data warehouse testing projects in both the telecommunications and ERP sectors. Join Geoff as he shares his approaches and experiences, focusing on the key “uniques” of data warehouse testing including methods for assuring data completeness, monitoring data transformations, and measuring quality. He also explores the opportunities for test automation as part of the data warehouse process, describing how it can be harnessed to streamline and minimize overhead.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Threats to mobile devices are more prevalent and increasing in scope and complexity. Users of mobile devices desire to take full advantage of the features
available on those devices, but many of the features provide convenience and capability but sacrifice security. This best practices guide outlines steps the users can take to better protect personal devices and information.

Pre-fab Benefits:Safety – employees working at ground level instead of off lifts and ladders in the fieldQuality – controlled environment, not exposed to the elements (rain, wind, heat and cold temperature swings)Productivity – repetitive nature of the task increases productivity
Traditional Process for a job of this scale could take anywhere from 2-3 weeks for all the paper trail to catch up to the work in the fieldAll paper – what happens if someone drops their binder in a puddle of mud? - that signature is useless
One source of truthAccessible to all project stakeholders simultaneouslyReduces 2-3 week traditional time frame to a matter of minutesVideo: Difference between projects and sessionsAbility to sort by date modified or name Attendees, Documents, Record – keep track of everything that happens in the session linked to graphical representation and mark-up viewDescribe legends keynotes for sub room status all status are custom and can be managed outside of the studio sessionChanging statusSub-contractorRoom statusMark deficiency – add a noteTalk about spaces and how the upfront creation of the document exponentially saves time on the back end (thinking smarter instead of working harder)
At the end of the day, we are all in the business of building structures for future generations, and it all starts with the craft workers in the field. Whatever means or methods we use, we have to get accurate information to the craft level in a timely manner in order to get the job done (right the first time)
Complex spaces and an extremely fast schedule led to construction being on-top of design Started a design scrub process with all project stakeholders to get the design caught up3-4 hour meetings Twice a week 6 monthsBox walks – touch on later in presentation
Color coding for different entities (owners rep, architect, consultant, general contractor, sub-contractor)Making mark-ups using custom tool setsAllows you to retain the history of the initial design – dim content
Big part to the design scrub process was to get the end user to confirm the design intentBox walk/ paper doll review of every area in the actual room so the user groups could touch and feel and use the space as they will in the end condition
Had one typical OR but really none of them are typical Using snapshot tool and some horizontal flipping, we are able to create the elevation of the backside of the wall and review any in-wall conflicts
