5. All the color palettes themselves and in the album covers all derive from natural or
earthy tones, conforming to a generic convention of the indie folk genre. This is due to
the content and basis of the genre. These colors are from earth, mud, sea, sky, clouds,
sun etc. They are all familiar to the eye therefore appealing. The album covers I have
included are all from the same or a similar genre to Bella Askew (indie folk) which
means my print productions will be relevant to the genre and appropriate. All the
images are relatively simplistic, either taking inspiration from the minimalism style
through use of individual images or geometry, or the Psychadelic style through use of
layering and overlaying images, experimenting with opacity. Some of the album covers
include artist images, whereas some do not. For my print productions, similarly to my
music video I am not going to include an artist image, but am going to include images
of the actress, Lena Porter, who is almost the ‘face of’ the brand identity in my
productions. The image I want to create for the artist is a pure, simplistic, natural and
genuine effect. I want it to be entirely non commercial and exaggerated and ‘true’,
reflecting the content and style of her music.
