PROPERTIES
According to the Cultural Properties Protection
Act, adopted in 2003, protection of the
intangible cultural heritage has the same
procedure as the protection of the tangible one
Legal status of the cultural properties inscribed
in the Register is the same, whether it is
tangible or intangible inscription
Three levels of the importance of the properties:
local, national and international

Procedure of the inscription:
Request for the inscription could come from:
public institution, local community or individual
Upon request Administration for the Protection
of Cultural Properties creates an experts’ team
made from at least three persons who are
actively engaged in the protection of ICH in
order to investigate whether or not the request
is made based on real cultural values shared by

PROPERTIES
Working group creates Elaborate on the
evaluation of cultural values which serves as a
guiding document towards possible legal status
If there are recognized cultural values and upon
the conclusion of the Elaborate, Administration
prepares Decision by which cultural property is
being protected by the Law

In March 2017 Ministry of Culture and Regional
Centre for ICH in Sofia had organized workshop
dedicated to the preparation of the nomination
files for the inscription of ICH on different UNESCO
lists
Workshop was attended by representatives: of the
state institutions in the field of cultural heritage,
Ministry of Culture, local museums, civil society
and barriers of ICH elements/intangible cultural
properties
That was a beginning of the preparation process of
the Nomination file for the inscription of Boka Navy
on the Representative list

Effects of the Workshop:
22 experts gained new knowledge about the
Convention
Certificates
Created national experts pool
Raised awareness of the opportunities for the
barriers

10. VALORIZATION

11. VALORIZATION
Every year Ministry of Culture gives a certain
amount of money for the projects aimed to the
sustainable development of ICH elements
protected by the Law, and through the Annual
Program on Protection and Valorization of
Cultural Properties
Besides that, this year Ministry of Culture had
given 30.000 Euros for Boka Navy traditional
costumes and other necessary equipment
