The German team, consisting of 5th graders, created a program for the Riley Rover robot using an ultrasonic sensor to avoid crashes. They used a loop block with the infinite symbol to continuously compare the distance measured by the sensor in centimeters to 100 cm, causing the robot to stop at 1 meter from obstacles. When they tested the program, the robot eventually crashed because the sensor does not cover the entire surface. They concluded the challenge was to get the robot as close to a wall as possible without crashing.
