This document discusses how mobile technology and social media have contributed to a rise in participatory culture. It notes that while blogging has declined among teens and young adults, social media usage has increased significantly. Specifically, 73% of American teens and 72% of adults ages 18-29 now use social networking sites. Additionally, over half of young adults access the internet wirelessly on their laptops and cell phones. The document concludes that mobile devices can be integrated into training environments using tools like social media, videos, demonstrations, and mobile surveys.

Institutions of learning adapt and change over time. The emergence of certain technologies, social behaviors, cultural expectations, and political and economic pressures influence what institutions do and what they look like. We live at a time when education features prominently in the global press and discussions focusing on improving the ways we design education are a daily occurrence. A central tenet of this discussion is the notion that technology is transforming education. Yet, the assumption that technology changes education often goes unchallenged. In this talk, I will highlight how learning and education are and are not changing as we are faced with new ideas about learning, increased (market-driven) interest in education, decreased state funding for education, and cultures of participation and sharing. Together, we will explore the research on online learning, the opportunities that exist for meaningful change, and the future educational systems that we are creating.

Prospective U.S. Mathematics Teachers' Engagement in Handheld Cellular Device...Dr. Mokter Hossain
This paper presents quantitative and qualitative data that examine the prospective U.S. mathematics teachers’ engagement in the use of the Internet, hand-held cellular devices, and Web 2.0 activities and their perception of using these technologies for the teaching and learning of Euclidean geometry and other mathematics courses. The study revealed that prospective mathematics teachers in the U.S. have massive engagement in accessing the Internet and Web 2.0-based activities through cellular and handheld mobile devices as well as in their self-reported skills in using Internet, without any significant differences based on their gender. Prospective mathematics teachers experienced numerous advantages and a few minor problems of the blogging activity as a supportive tool in the Euclidean Geometry course. They found blogs a supportive and useful tool for collaborative teaching and learning purposes. Thus, they suggest that blogs and other Web 2.0 tools should be incorporated in the middle and high school mathematics education curricula.

Exploring Factors Affecting the Success of TVET-Industry Partnership: A Case ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to explore factors affecting the success of TVET-industry
partnerships. A case study design of the qualitative research method was used to achieve this objective. For the
study, one polytechnic college of Oromia regional state, and two industries were purposively selected. From the
sample polytechnic college and industries, a total of 17 sample respondents were selected. Out of 17
respondents, 10 respondents were selected using the snowball sampling method, and the rest 7 respondents were
selected using the purposive sampling technique. The qualitative data were collected through an in-depth
interview and document analysis. The data were analyzed using thematic approaches. The findings revealed that
TVET-industry partnerships were found weak. Lack of key stakeholder‟s awareness shortage of improved
training equipment and machines in polytechnic colleges, absence of trainee health insurance policy, lack of
incentive mechanisms for private industries, lack of employer industries involvement in designing and
developing occupational standards, and preparation of curriculum were some of the impediments of TVETindustry partnership. Based on the findings it was recommended that the Oromia TVET bureau in collaboration
with other relevant concerned regional authorities and TVET colleges, set new strategies for creating strong
awareness for industries, companies, and other relevant stakeholders on the purpose and advantages of
implementing successful TVET-industry partnership. Finally, the Oromia regional government in collaboration
with the TVET bureau needs to create policy-supported incentive strategies such as giving occasional privileges
of duty-free import, tax reduction, and regional government recognition awards based on the level of partnership
contribution to TVET institutions in promoting TVET-industry partnership.

ABSTRACT: Although a significant amount of literature exists on Morocco's migration policies and their
successes and failures since their implementation in 2014, there is limited research on the integration of subSaharan African children into schools. This paperis part of a Ph.D. research project that aims to fill this gap. It
reports the main findings of a study conducted with migrant children enrolled in two public schools in Rabat,
Morocco, exploring how integration is defined by the children themselves and identifying the obstacles that they
have encountered thus far. The following paper uses an inductive approach and primarily focuses on the
relationships of children with their teachers and peers as a key aspect of integration for students with a migration
background. The study has led to several crucial findings. It emphasizes the significance of speaking Colloquial
Moroccan Arabic (Darija) and being part of a community for effective integration. Moreover, it reveals that the
use of Modern Standard Arabic as the language of instruction in schools is a source of frustration for students,
indicating the need for language policy reform. The study underlines the importanceof considering the
children‟s agency when being integrated into mainstream public schools.

The Challenges of Good Governance and Project Implementation in Nigeria: A Re...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT : This study reveals that systemic corruption and other factors including poor leadership,
leadership recruitment processes, ethnic and regional politics, tribalism and mediocrity, poor planning, and
variation of project design have been the causative factors that undermine projects implementation in postindependence African states, particularly in Nigeria. The study, thus, argued that successive governments of
African states, using Nigeria as a case study, have been deeply engrossed in this obnoxious practice that has
undermined infrastructure sector development as well as enthroned impoverishment and mass poverty in these
African countries. This study, therefore, is posed to examine the similarities in causative factors, effects and
consequences of corruption and how it affects governance, projects implementation and national growth. To
achieve this, the study adopted historical research design which is qualitative and explorative in nature. The
study among others suggests that the governments of developing countries should shun corruption and other
forms of obnoxious practices in order to operate effective and efficient systems that promote good governance
and ensure there is adequate projects implementation which are the attributes of a responsible government and
good leadership. Policy makers should also prioritize policy objectives and competence to ensure that policies
are fully implemented within stipulated time frame.

Non-Financial Information and Firm Risk Non-Financial Information and Firm RiskAJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: This research aims to examine how ESG disclosure and risk disclosure affect the total risk of
companies. Using cross section data from 355 companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange, data regarding
ESG disclosure and risk was collected. In this research, ESG and risk disclosures are measured based on content
analysis using GRI 4 guidelines for ESG disclosures and COSO ERM for risk disclosures. Using multiple
regression, it is concluded that only risk disclosure can reduce the company's total risk, while ESG disclosure
cannot affect the company's total risk. This shows that only risk disclosure is relevant in determining a
company's total risk.

Social media refers to online platforms and tools that enable users to create, share, and exchange information, ideas, and content in virtual communities and networks. These platforms have revolutionized the way people communicate, interact, and consume information. Here are some key aspects and descriptions of social media:
Mobile technology in a participatory culture amber b final
1. Mobile Technology in a Participatory
Culture

2. Participatory Culture
• “A participatory culture as a culture with relatively low barriers
to artistic expression and civic engagement, strong support for
creating and sharing one’s creations, and some type of
informal mentorship whereby what is known by the most
experienced is passed along to novices.” (Jenkins, 3)
3. Social Media and Mobile Devices
• Facebook
• Twitter
• Linkedin
• SnapChat
• Pinterest
• Instagram
• Tablets/iPads
• E-Readers
• Laptops
• Mobile Phones
• iPhone
• Android
• Windows
• Blackberry
4. Rise of Mobility
• Blogging has declined in popularity among teens and young adults since
2006. 14% of online teen now say they blog, down from 28% of teen
internet users in 2006.
• 73% of wired American teens now use social networking websites, a
significant increase from previous surveys. Just over half of online teens
(55%) used social networking sites in November 2006 and 65% did so in
February 2008.
• Young adults act much like teens in their tendency to use these sites.
Fully 72% of online 18-29 year olds use social networking websites,
nearly identical to the rate among teens and significantly higher than
the 39% of internet users ages 30 and up who use these sites. (Lenhart,
3)
• Roughly half of 18-29 year olds have accessed the internet wirelessly on
a laptop (55%), or on a cell phone (55%), and about one quarter of 18-
29 year olds (28%) have accessed the internet wirelessly on another
device such as an e-book reader or gaming device (Lenhart, 4)
• Cell phone ownership is nearly ubiquitous among teens and young
adults, and much of the growth in teen cell phone ownership has been
driven by adoption among the youngest teens. Three-quarters (75%0 of
teens and 93% of adults ages 18-29 now have a cell phone. (Lenhart, 4)
5. Training Integration?
• Can we use these devices in training Environments?
YES!
• Is there software to help integrate these devices?
YES
Tools: Social Media, Videos, Demonstrations, Mobile
Devices, Mobile Surveys.
Editor's Notes
Above is a quick diagram showing the relation of Social Networks and Mobile Devices. The older networks such as Facebook and Twitter have multiple ways of accessing the network, while some medias can only be accessed by an app on a certain kind of mobile device.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dan-pontefract/social-media-in-the-workp_1_b_5270543.html (social media picture)
So what do all of these facts have in common? Mobile technology is advancing! Every day I hear about how the 18-29 population is a generation that doesn’t not use the phone as a means of talking communication, but to access video, information, and social networking sites easier and more readily. Fewer users are heading to computers and more are heading toward laptops, tablets and phones. I can’t recall the last time I used a website to access a social network. Mobile devices and the increased app development have made our generations the mobile users of the digital age.
But how can this relate back to a training environment? Digital natives are a part of this participatory culture that can shed insight into what resources would be best to use in a training environment. By testing out new medias and incorporating video, training departments not only will be able to use current technologies to learn from but also will be staying up to date with the type of learners they have in their seats. Because this is a new topic, there is still more research that needs to be conducted on the integration. One thing I do believe that technology should be used as a tool to learning and not complete take over.
