Mobile phones were first launched in Sweden in 1960 as the world's first partly automatic car phone system. Martin Cooper invented the first handheld portable mobile phone in 1973 which was launched by Motorola and available worldwide. By 2010, 31% of Australian children between ages 5-14 had mobile phones, with usage increasing significantly over the past decade.
