Sérgio Viana is a Partner and Microsoft Solutions Lead at IT consulting company Xpand IT. He discusses Xpand IT's work with Crédito Agrícola, one of the largest banks in Portugal, to develop mobile banking apps for iOS, Android, and Windows using Xamarin. Xpand IT created a proof-of-concept app in 1.5 weeks to win the project. The first release took 3 months to complete across 3 platforms. Xamarin allowed for high code reuse and created a global reference project for mobile banking technology.

35. BIGGEST CHALLENGES
1. Code reuse led to the loss of some flexibility on the way we defined
the solution – but was definitely worth it!
2. The fact that we needed to control the apps not depending on the
Stores led to the creation of an Azure backend with this purpose.
3. Including Xamarin Test Cloud services in the project may present
some challenges if requirements are not well defined.
4. Xamarin Insights should be more used to gather business
requirements.
