Role Title: Events Melbourne Volunteer - Melbourne Music Week 2016
Role Position: Event Support
Role Summary
Volunteers will be engaged to gain experience in assisting the Event Management team with a number of event duties
for the duration of Melbourne Music Week .
Engagement of volunteers will be for a minimum or three hours and a maximum of six hours in length. Shifts may be
extended, however adequate breaks will be provided.
Volunteers undertaking these shifts should feel comfortable standing for long periods of time and engaging in a fast
paced environment.
Volunteers will be supervised in most cases, however should be comfortable acting autonomously if required.
Volunteers must report to the Volunteer Coordinator at the commencement and conclusion of each allocated shift.
Below is a list of the key tasks that will be undertaken by Event Support Volunteers.
Role Tasks
• Undertake specific duties as outlined by your supervisor
• Assist with runner duties including relaying messages to staff and other volunteers
• Assist with set up and pack down of event requirements
• Assist with front of house operations – welcoming, entry control, ticketing, & wrist banding of patrons
• Assist with promotional tasks: taking event photos, handing out event fliers/brochures
• Assist Event Management team with other duties as required in order to experience many event management
processes.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience (Selection Criteria)
• A keen interest in the events industry
• Previous volunteer experience
• Ability to take direction and act autonomously if required
• A keen attention to detail
• Ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment
• Ability to communicate with people of all ages and abilities
• Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne’s core values - integrity, courage, respect for staff and others
and striving for excellence
