Commitment: Five events per semester (minimum)

Note: Additional volunteer hours are up to the discretion of the committee

Organisational Environment
The aim of Victoria University (VU) Student Life is to foster
campus life and student engagement. Student Life facilitates
and provides a range of student based media, programs and
activities that brings students together, promotes wellbeing,
and encourages student development.
The VEDTL position acts to improve the experience of the
students involved in the Vollies Program.
Overall Purpose
The key role of the Vollies Event Day Team Leader is to be a
guide, motivator and organiser to Vollies during events.
The VEDTL will be in correspondence with Student Life staff
either (or a combination of) in the lead up to events, during
and after events to ensure Vollies carry out their duties in a
professional manner, to the best of their abilities in a safe
working environment.
Major tasks
• Meet with relevant Vollies coordinators and/or event
coordinators for event briefings;
• Brief and record attendance of Vollies, as well as handing
out applicable Vollies materials, such as badges and water
bottles;
• Lead by example on event day and provide guidance to
Vollies where required;
• Ensure the Vollies are in a safe working environment and
aren’t exposed to any dangers, and if so, that they are
minimised as best as possible;
• Debrief, thank and dismiss Vollies, as well as collect any
immediate feedback/recommendations from the day that
can be relayed onto the Vollies team;
• Complete a short report template of the volunteer
opportunity, discussing what went well on the day,
what didn’t go well on the day, and any other
feedback/recommendations.

Application process
To be a VEDTL, complete the EOI form on p.19 and return
it to a member of the Student Life team. If the Vollies team
receives more EOI’s than the number of positions available,
success will be dependent on the level of engagement with the
Vollies Program in 2016.
All interested Vollies will be emailed shortly after Vollies
training regarding the outcome of their EOI.
If you are successful, you will be required to attend a VEDTL
workshop where you will learn more about your role over
O-Fest and throughout the year.
