Building complex async applications is really hard. Whether you use callbacks, Promises, or EventEmitters, Error objects should have a place in your utility belt. They are indispensable when it comes to managing work flows in a highly asynchronous environment.
This talk covers patterns for using JavaScript Error (with a capital E) objects to build resilient applications, and introduce some modules that can be used to build errors with an elegant history of stack traces even through multiple asynchronous operations. Try/catch, callbacks, and other error handling mechanisms will be examined, revealing some potential deficiencies in the JavaScript language for dealing with errors.

Exercise and weight loss online community networkMarion Barry
This document discusses reasons for developing an exercise and weight loss system. It notes that most people stop exercising within 6 months and that women participate in exercise less than men. Weight loss goals focused on appearance can decrease motivation long-term. The initial idea was a wrist-worn device to track steps, heart rate, and sleep to calculate calorie expenditure and aid short-term weight loss. However, a different skill set was needed, and similar products already exist. A new idea is a web-based motivational weight loss network to address issues of isolation and lack of community in current solutions. Research suggests social support and intrinsic goals like well-being improve participation and outcomes. The proposed changes draw on this research and focus on community

Introduction
The purpose of this research paper is to inform the audience of the severe incline of diabetic mortality rate in the United States. This paper will discuss where the data originates from, what makes the information gathered valuable and important, and what changes can or should be made to help improve overall health care efficiency and quality. Included in this paper will be a data chart which will provide a visual representation of the collected data.
Data Source
A series of data that is gathered for analyzation or reference towards something to represent or justify a course of action or to persuade an audience is what data is. It is important to understand what data is before understanding the importance of it. Not all data is relevant, which means it can be acted upon. Sorting through the vast amount of data to find relevant data can be time consuming and tiresome. Relevant data is used by businesses to make informed and justified decisions.
Why Is Data Important
Data is viewed as something that cannot be fought against due to it being fact and not based on opinion. Gathering data allows for issues to be avoided and certain things to be changed or altered to avoid problems from worsening. This allows the company to assume a proactive method of thinking. The consumer of the service provided will establish a relationship with the company due to the provided data. Feedback will provide an opportunity for the company to facilitate any necessary needs. The data that is collected will establish new customers, produce possible solutions to issues, retain current customer base, and more.
Trends
Americans are dying at an alarming rate from diabetes (Diabetes, 2018). There are preventive measures that can help prevent or lessen that chances of becoming diabetic, such as being proactive in work, school, and social life. Being knowledge about nutrition and conscious about the types of food a person takes in can also help decrease the chances of becoming diabetic. Data gathered and categorized is important to the stakeholders because it can provide valuable information and help prioritize the areas of focus. Data collection and analyzation is what can help make a business fail or succeed.
Policies to Improve Care and Change in Operation
There are a couple of things that individuals can do to prevent diabetes. A few of these things is exercising on a regular basis, maintaining a health nutritional diet, and a normal body weight are just a few things that can be done. Simply being aware of diabetes and what can be done to prevent it is a great help by just informing individuals of the possibility and what lead to it. Learning the information at an early age or early in life is very important (Paddock, 2014). Teaching this information to children while in school is a great idea to help promote a healthy lifestyle and d ...

This document is a thesis submitted by Andrew C. Hall to Oklahoma State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Master of Science degree in Health and Human Performance in July 2014. The thesis examines the effectiveness of a 12-week fitness intervention for individuals diagnosed with metabolic syndrome. Eleven adults participated in the study, which involved moderate intensity aerobic exercise 3 times per week for 30 minutes, gradually increasing the intensity over 12 weeks. The thesis measured various health markers before and after the intervention to determine the impact on risk factors for metabolic syndrome. It found significant improvements in several areas, including weight, abdominal girth, flexibility, and muscular endurance. However, it did not find significant changes in all risk factors. The study
This document provides background information for a proposed instructional design project on whole grains and cardiovascular disease for patients at Marlborough Hospital. The target audience is patients over 65 years old with cardiovascular disease, many of whom are male and Portuguese. The goal is to improve heart health by increasing patients' intake of whole grains, which research shows can decrease cholesterol levels. June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Editor's Notes
High Blood Pressure
Uncontrolled high blood pressure can cause injury or death. High blood pressure (HBP) is also known as hypertension (HTN). HBP is sometimes called "the silent killer" because HBP can cause damage without symptoms present.
Risk Factors:
Family history – making certain lifestyle changes has allowed many people with a strong family history of HBP to avoid the disease themselves.
Advanced age – causes loss of flexibility in blood vessels.
Gender – more men than women have HBP until 45. From 45 to 64, the percentages of men and women with HBP are similar.
Lack of physical activity – inactivity increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, blood vessel disease, and stroke.
Poor diet, high salt intake – the body needs good nutrition from many different sources. A diet high in calories, fats, and sugars while low in essential nutrients contributes directly to poor health and obesity.
Overweight and obesity – increases risk of developing high blood pressure. Body mass index (BMI) is used to measure overall healthy weight. A BMI between 25 and 30 is considered overweight. A body mass index over 30 is considered obese. Over two-thirds (67.3%) of U.S. adults are overweight or obese (over 149 million adults).
Drinking too much alcohol – use of alcohol can increase risk of high blood pressure dramatically. It can also cause heart failure, lead to stroke, and cause arrhythmias.
Contributing factors – there is a connection between high blood pressure and these factors but no scientific proof.
Stress
Smoking and second-hand smoke
Sleep Apnea (What is Heart Disease, 2012).
Symptoms
You may not have any symptoms. However, high blood pressure can permanently damage the heart, brain, eyes, and kidneys before you feel anything. High blood pressure can often lead to a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, and kidney failure. Untreated high blood pressure damages and scars the arteries (What is Heart Disease, 2012).
Cancer Prevention
Stay Healthy – more than half of all deaths from cancer could be prevented by making healthier choices - not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, eating right, and keeping active.
Risk Factors
Avoid tobacco.
Maintain a healthy weight.
Get regular physical activity.
Eat healthy including plenty of fruits and vegetables.
Limit alcohol intake.
Protect your skin.
Know your risks and family history.
Have regular cancer screening tests and check-ups (Cancer Facts, 2012).
Tobacco-Related Cancers Fact Sheet
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States for both men and women and is the most preventable form of cancer death in our society. Tobacco use increases the risk for cancers of the mouth, lips, nasal cavity (nose) and sinuses, larynx (voice box), pharynx (throat), esophagus (swallowing tube), stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder, uterus, cervix, and colon/rectum (Cancer Facts, 2012).
Lung Cancer Statistics for 2012
New Cases of Lung Cancer: 226,160Males: 116,470 Females: 109,690 (Cancer Facts, 2012).
Deaths from Lung Cancer: 160,340 Males: 87,750 Females: 72,590 (Cancer Facts, 2012).
In the United States, using tobacco is responsible for 1 in 5 deaths. This is approximately 443,000 early deaths each year. (Source: Cancer Facts & Figures 2012)
Tobacco use accounts for at least 30% of all cancer deaths and 80% of lung cancer deaths (Cancer Facts, 2012).
Skin Cancer – is the most common form of all cancers, making up nearly half of all cancers in the United States. More than 2 million cases of basal and squamous cell skin cancer are found in the United States every year. Melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer, accounting for more than 75,000 cases of skin cancer in 2012 (Cancer Facts, 2012).
Skin Cancer Prevention and Early Detection – more than 3.5 million skin cancers are diagnosed every year in the United States, more than all other cancers combined. Most skin cancers occur from too much exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays. Most of this exposure comes from the sun, but some come from man-made sources like indoor tanning beds. You just need your eyes and a mirror. Finding skin cancer early is the best way to ensure effective treatment. Check your own skin – at least monthly. A skin self-exam is best done in a well-lit room in front of a full-length mirror using a hand-held mirror to look at areas that are hard to see. A spouse or close family member or close friend can help you with these exams, especially for those hard-to-see areas like your back or scalp. (Cancer Facts, 2012).
