Misty Roberts decided to go to college to study General Studies and then Social Work after working at a youth shelter. She initially struggled in college, failing classes and taking time off before committing to Social Work. Throughout her courses, she gained self-awareness and improved her ability to accept responsibility through reflections and lessons on goals, time management, communication, and learning styles. Her scores on assessments of life skills increased, showing personal growth. Her goal is to earn a Social Work degree and work as a CPS case worker to help families and protect children.

General Studies then after that I want to get my bachelors degree in
Social Work.
Five years after graduating from high school I decided to go to
college. I was not
sure what I was wanting to do but knew I needed to get started on
something but did not really take it serious and failed several
classes then quite college for a couple years. Then started working
at a emergency shelter for youth and then decided I wanted to do
social work and started going back to college now I take it more
serious. I am confident, committed and intelligent.

2. 1. The beginning self assessment and the end assessment because it
showed me at the beginning of the course the things I needed to
work at and in the end it showed me how much I have changed in
certain ways over the semester.
2. The service learning project-Because I think it is important to
volunteer places in the community that really need the help and to
be able to help others and animals when they are in need is a great
thing.
3. The Scavenger hunt-Because it showed me the many different
things at the college and what you can do in them and who to
contact to get information and it taught me many things I did not
know that I can use in the future.

3. 1.Journal entry 13- I liked it because it helped to show all the
things
you do in a day and really break down the time to show how
many important things you do and how many things you don’t
really need to do in a day.

4. I liked module 4 because it teaches you
to learn how to communicate more
effectively, request assistance, and it
teaches you to identify resources. It
shows that many people are not happy
with there life and the ones that were
happy study classes for the joy of
learning. It teaches you to learn about
your life’s purpose.

Accepting personal responsibility went up quite a bit by the end of the course. I think the
reason it did was by many of the lesson that taught about being responsible for your
actions. And during the course I have had to be responsible to get everything done in time.

8. What making poor choices can lead to. And
not being able to get the things at the time
you want them. Lowering GPA and not
being able to get financial aid. Taking longer
to graduate because you can not take as
many classes at once. The class helps teach
you the many ways of learning and teaches
you new things about yourself. It makes you
pay more attention to how you spend your
day.

9. When I accomplish my goals and dreams. I will have my degree in social work. I will
be a cps case worker. I will I will be helping take care of and make sure kids that are in
CPS are safe and well taken care of . And if they get to stay at home helping to make
sure that everything at home is still going good and if they are taken and put in
placement make sure that everything is going good and they are good where they are. I
will have my family there supporting me all the way and being happy that I have got
my degree and that I will have a good job that I will really like and want to actually get
up and go to work and being helping others which is something that I really enjoying
doing. I would have other families in my life also that I would be working with to either
help them be better and get the help they need to be able to keep there children or if the
children did have to be taken away help them find the help they need and the things that
they would need to be able to do to get their kids back. I will also be able to have nice
things because I will have a good job.
