Headstart Manpower Consultants: Talent Acquisition & Marketing for the offer ...Nitesh Singh Patel
The document summarizes an internship report on a talent acquisition study conducted with Headstart Manpower Consultants. The internship objectives were to learn the recruitment process and tap the price-sensitive Vidarbha market. As part of an anniversary offer called "AVSAR", Headstart charged clients Rs. 5,000 per hire, a discount from the usual 8.33% of salary. The intern helped approach clients, screen candidates, and fill 25 positions within 15 days, facing challenges with an short timeframe, outdated candidate data, and low salaries. Recommendations included extending the offer to a career fair and improving database refinement and client communication.
Car sharing service Zipcar was started in 1999 and expanded to 21 cities by 2004, gaining 30,000 registered members and a fleet of 400 cars. It partners with universities and offers an affordable alternative to car ownership through low membership fees and hourly/daily rental rates. While Zipcar is more convenient than traditional car rentals due to inclusive pricing and flexibility, it also provides significant cost savings compared to owning a vehicle through eliminating expenses like car payments, insurance, gas, and parking fees. The case examines a situation where a Zipcar member encounters a problem with his reserved vehicle.
This document discusses how consumers irrationally overvalue old products and resist change, while companies irrationally overvalue new innovations. It builds a framework around three entities - the new product/technology, the consumer who must adopt it, and the company designing it. It also discusses balancing product improvements with behavior changes, minimizing consumer resistance through patience and compatible designs, and how Toyota succeeded by understanding consumer psychology.
Snapple was founded in 1972 and became a market leader in the alternative beverage category. It was known for its natural and real products. Snapple grew rapidly through the 1980s and 1990s before being sold to multiple companies. When acquired by Quaker in 1994, Quaker aimed to integrate Snapple and its sports drink Gatorade by combining their distribution channels. However, Snapple's image as a fashionable drink clashed with Gatorade's health focus. Snapple was later acquired by Triarc which aimed to revitalize the brand by reconnecting with consumers and focusing on new label designs and normal people in advertising.

It begins by defining retailing and describing different types of retailers like department stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores. It then covers non-store retailing forms like direct selling and direct marketing. The document also discusses how corporate retailing and franchising work. The document concludes by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of private label brands for retailers and customers.
Predicting the impact of FIFA 2014 & Olympics 2016 on the economy of Brazil's...Nitesh Singh Patel
The document analyzes the predicted economic impact of hosting the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympics on Brazil. It finds that most past host countries did not see profits from such events, except Los Angeles in 1984 and Barcelona in 1992. Brazil plans to spend $1 trillion on infrastructure upgrades for the events. This is expected to boost tourism, telecommunications, and transportation sectors. Quantitative analysis shows high correlation between GDP and FDI in Brazil. While the events may boost Brazil's economy, the government needs to control costs to avoid overruns and delays.
The Big-M method is a variation of the simplex method for solving linear programming problems with "greater-than" constraints. It works by introducing artificial variables with a large coefficient M to transform inequality constraints into equality constraints, creating an initial feasible solution. The transformed problem is then solved via simplex elimination to arrive at an optimal solution while eliminating artificial variables. The document provides an example problem demonstrating the step-by-step Big-M method process of setting up and solving a linear program with inequalities.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
