Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.

Prof. Devlina Chatterjee (Mentor)

Dr. Devlina Chatterjee was rewarded gold medal by Indian Economic Association for her
research. Dr. Chatterjee holds PhD from IISc, Bangalore, MS from Penn State University -
USA, MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur. She also have a rich
industrial experience of working in organizations like GE Capital, Analytic Center of
Excellence, Industrial Finance Corporation of India, Antrix Corporation-Department of
Space, Government of India.
Dr. Deepu Philip has received Innovation Awards, London – for TrackSafe: Decision Support
System to Enhance Safety of Railway Track Workers – part of Bombardier Transportation
project jointly funded by ISTP Canada, Bombardier, and GITA India. He is a rare combination
of unparalleled academic and industrial experience with the leading organizations of the
world. Dr. Philip holds PhD and MS from MSU Bozeman, USA and B.Tech from College of
Engineering, Trivandrum
Mr. Onkar (CEO & Founder)
Onkar drives the vision of the company. He was awarded for his innovative idea about using
Technology & innovation in promoting good governance by MHRD. He is passionate about
problem solving and bringing change for betterment. To bring ideas to reality he ardently
believes that amalgamation of technology and analytics is a key enabler. Before building
EMPOWERU he worked as consultant in a risk management company and project engineer
at IIT Kanpur for two years. He completed his Master’s degree from Industrial and
Management Engineering Department IIT Kanpur and Bachelor of Engineering from BIT,
Durg.
Mr. Prachir Lalit (Co -Founder)
Prachir Lalit heads the product development. He is passionate about creating new
technological products and a great product architect, evangelist, interface designer and an
incredible debugger. He ensures robustness and scalability of the product along with smooth
user experience aligning company's technology strategy with its business strategy. He is
pursuing Master’s degree from IIT Kanpur and holds B.Tech from GBPUAT Pantnagar. He also
have keen interest in data science as well.

PROMORPH SOLUTIONS has been founded and mentored by a team of researchers and data
scientists from IIT Kanpur, IISc and world renowned universities to provide high quality analytical
products and services.
Business Analytics has changed the approach of organization’s towards decision-making i.e. rather
than taking decisions only on the basis of experience or gut feeling, nowadays decisions are taken
based on analysis of historical behavioral data, prior decisions, and their outcomes. Importance and
impact of analytics has already been marked by its extensive applications in the areas of fraud detection, risk
management, advertising, marketing, loan assessment and prediction etc. But its full potential in education
sector has not yet been realized because lack or availability of data in the required format.
We realized the value of Educational Data Mining (EDM) in addressing challenges faced by
educational institutions and developed EMPOWERU. It automates, monitors and analyzes different
facets of institution's operations by leveraging technology and concepts of statistics, data science and
machine learning for addressing the challenges.
