2. ABSTRACT
Frame component, which is the component to be manufactured,
consists of several important parts in the missile. In the present
work an optimal production process is discussed which reduces the
overall cost of manufacture and simultaneously maintaining the
quality required. A study on the criticality of the component, the
particulars of the machine and its accessories, the control systems,
the programming features, development of part program, the
inspection, results and the conclusions, are included in this project.
3. INTRODUCTION
The required missile component is produced by
performing CNC turning operation initially. It
has to go through a sequence of operations to
give an effective result.
5. FACING :
In the context of turning work involves moving
the cutting tool at right angles to the axis of
rotation of the rotating work piece. This can
be performed by the operation of the cross-
slide, if one is fitted, as distinct from the
longitudinal feed (turning).
6. PARTING :
This process, also called parting off or cutoff, is
used to create deep grooves which will
remove a completed or part-complete
component from its parent stock.
7. GROOVING :
Grooving is like parting, except that grooves are
cut to a specific depth instead of severing a
completed/part-complete component from
the stock. Grooving can be performed on
internal and external surfaces, as well as on
the face of the part.
8. BORING :
Enlarging or smoothing an existing hole created
by drilling, molding etc.i.e. the machining of
internal cylindrical forms (a) by mounting
work piece to the spindle via a chuck or
faceplate b) by mounting work piece onto the
cross slide and placing cutting tool into the
chuck.
9. DRILLING :
This is used to remove material from the inside
of a work piece. This process utilizes
standard drill bits held stationary in the tail
stock or tool turret of the lathe. The process
can be done by separately available drilling
machines.
10. TOOLS AND INSERTS
Tool Selection for cnc
machining is an art as
cnc machine can do vast
variety of operations
like turning facing
threading taping profile
or arc machining.
