Much vs. Many
• Much and Many are used to express
  that there is a large quantity of
  something.
Much
• Much is used with uncountable nouns
  – Uncountable nouns are materials, concepts,
    information, etc. They are not individual objects
    and cannot be counted.
  – Just remember uncountable nouns are always
    singular
  – Much sugar, flour, air




   Example:
   How much sugar do you need for the
   recipe?
Many
• Many is used with countable, plural nouns
  – Countable nouns are individual objects, people,
    places, etc. which can be counted.
  – Many pencils, cars, books




    Example:
    How many pencils are on the rug?
Differences between Much and
            Many
• Much you will use with uncountable
  singular nouns.
   –Much sugar, flour, air

• Many is used with countable plural
  nouns.
  –Many pencils, cars, books
Much vs. Many
• We use Much and Many in negative
  sentences and questions.
  – “A negative sentence states that something
    is not true or is incorrect”

  Examples:
    We didn’t spend much money.
    Do you know many people?
Few vs. Little
• We use Few and Little to suggest a
  small amount.
Few
• Few is used with countable, plural nouns
  – Countable nouns are individual objects, people,
    places, etc. Which can be counted.
  – Few cars, friends, books




    Example:
    There are a few books sitting on the
    table.
Little
• Little is used with uncountable nouns
  – Uncountable nouns are materials, concepts,
    information, etc. They are not individual objects
    and cannot be counted.
  – Just remember uncountable nouns are always
    singular
  – Little money, time, energy




  Example:
  There is little money on the table.

             Little
• Few you will use with countable,
  plural nouns
  –Few cars, friends, books

• Little you will use with uncountable,
  singular nouns.
   –Little money, time, energy
Few vs. Little
• We use Few and Little in positive
  sentences and questions.
  – A positive sentence states that something
    is true and correct.



  Examples:
  I only have a few books.
  I only have a little money.
