Minex Micro-tunneling S. Ltd is a certified local contractor with over 26
years of experience in Tunneling, undertaking virtually all tunnels from but
not limited to between 1m and 15 meters in diameter, channels, spillways and
other works of building and engineering.
 Our practice in tunnel engineering has birthed inspiration for other tunneling
contractors in Kenya and East Africa

5. Services
Long Drives
Tunnel lengths run in kilometers have been completed,
including those with curves. Most of these are width and
diameter between 1 to 4 meters with minimal road or
urban disruption.
Cost Effective / Environmental Crossings:
We work in saturated soils, wetlands, through rivers and
other bionetworks leaving them in their natural state as
compared to common ways.

Minimal Disruption: Unlike other universal ways Micro-tunneling method
installs thousands of feet of tunnel working out of one, relatively small location,
the Pilot shaft.
Railroad / Highway Crossings: Purpose to run transportation and transmission
currently have focus on integrity of traffic or railways.
Precision: Micro-tunneling better option for the installation pipeline to a tight
tolerance, seismometer, Head and Tailrace tunnel, water ways and
transmissions.

Tunnels have always met three

effectual means of tunneling for all soil
profiles

ground support
The following methods have been used by Minex;

9. Soil structure stabilization
which we have employed expertise that has
involved the following techniques;
Soil nailing and anchoring Minex has
perfected stabilization of the ground through
installation of nails and anchors to effectively
restrain structures including retaining walls,
dams, bridge abutments and foundations for
buildings.

Civil engineering tunnels: Minex
mainly ventures in the former
method of tunneling which are
generally driven at relatively shallow
depths require higher tolerances in
terms of the final tunnel profile and
its ensuing stability.

11. Soil structure stabilization Cont’d
Shot Crete; Gunite mix pneumatically propelled
at high velocity into a surface and compacted at
the same time.
Pilling used to transfer the load to a deeper level
than is possible with a traditional shallow
foundation.
Grouting Minex also uses mechanized
foundation grouting for stabilization in structures
Gabions installations; in situations where the
ground has some stability but the soil is prone
erosion.
