This is a presentation that I created for my Professional Skills class in November, 2012. It is an extremely rudimentary look at meditation -- I wanted to make it as simplistic as possible to be able to translate the importance and necessity.
The ego evolves constantly through imperfect ways based entirely on the 5 senses of knowledge and action. As a result, the delusive ego is constantly at war to liberate itself from the delusive world. The soul awakens from the delusive state of illusion wherein it was known as ego. The process of the self realization through miseries is described in the following slides.
As research into the applications of mindfulness progresses, both in the medical field for problems like pain and chronic illness management, and in the mental health field through therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy continue to increase the empirical support for the efficacy of this approach in a variety of conditions, it behooves us to learn more about this and apply it in our own lives and practices.
