Specific Objectives:
After going through this Learning Activity Sheet, the students are expected to:
1. explain the nature and process of communication;
2. recognize the relationship of the functions of communication to everyday life; and
3. illustrate the process of communication
Edgar Johnson states, “The seeds of knowledge may be planted in solitude but must be cultivated in public.”
Oral Communication is an integral part of Oral History, hence, it is essential to indicate its basic rules and significance by making two points that highlight the importance of communication as an integral part of every person’s past, present, and future. (Stiegelbauer & Tirban, 2012)
Oral communication is communicating with spoken words. It's a verbal form of communication where you communicate your thoughts, present ideas, and share information. Examples of oral communication are conversations with friends, family, or colleagues, presentations, and speeches. (Harappa.edu, 2020)
The purpose of the training is to develop and explore better ways of expressing ourselves.
The training is meant to leave our hesitation and fear of speaking in public.
We all are here to learn something from others and teach something to others
Due to the above reasons the training is going to be a very interactive session with your active participation.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

When communication happens

message, this is known as verbal
communication.

Oral Communication: communication which happens through word of mouth, spoken
words, conversations, and also any messages or information that are shared or exchanged
between one another through speech or word of mouth is called oral communication.
Written Communication: This is a type of communication that is expressed through written
word or often written sign which refers to the languages used in any medium.
