2. Insertion Point and Pointers
The insertion point is the blinking marker on the page that shows the point where
you are typing. Also known as cursor, the insertion point moves to the right as you
type.
The pointer is the mark on the screen that shows the position of the mouse. It
moves all over the screen as you move the mouse and is used to place the insertion
point where you want to type.
3. Pointer Description
When the pointer moves over the page, it looks like an I-beam. When you
click the mouse button, the insertion point is placed to the left of the I-
beam pointer.
When the pointer moves over specific formatting areas, the following icon
appear under the insertion point; align left, align right, center, left
indent, left text wrap, and right text wrap.
When the pointer moves over he Ribbon, it takes the shape of an arrow
pointing up and to the left. Clicking the mouse button once over a
command tab or command tab option will select that option.
When the pointer moves past the left margin of the text on the page, it
takes the shape of an arrow pointing up and to the right. Clicking the
mouse button at this point will select that line of text. To select the
entire paragraph, double click.

5. Word Wrap
•The text will continuously appear on he
screen and will automatically continue to
the next line. You do not have to press enter
or return.
6. Delete Characters
•The Backspace Key moves the insertion
point to the left one space at a time,
eliminating text or space while Delete Key
eliminates text or space to the right of the
insertion point and keeps he insertion point
stationary.
7. Arrow Keys
•These useful keys when you wan to move
the insertion point without using the mouse.
The arrow keys allow you to place the
insertion point to the left, right, up, and
down. It can also be used to go from one
place to another.
8. Typing and Inserting texts
•The text you type will appear wherever the
blinking cursor is placed. You can move the
cursor by moving the position of the mouse
and clicking.
9. Selecting Texts
•Selecting texts is one of the most often
executed and useful actions in formatting.
Texts have to be selected before they can
be formatted.
10. Inserting Additional Texts
• Texts can be inserted in a document at any point.
• 1. Type text. Put cursor where you want to add the text and
begin typing.
• 2. Copy and Paste Text. Highlight text or texts you wish to
copy, right click on it, and click COPY. Place the cursor where
you want the text I the document, right click and click PASTE.
• 3. CUT and Paste Text. Highlight the text you wish to copy,
right click and click cut. Place the cursor where you want the
text in the document, right click, and click Paste.
• 4. Drag Text. Highlighting the text you wish to move, click on it
and drag it to the place where you want the text in the
document.
11. Using the Undo and Redo Command
•The UNDO Command is used when you want to go
back to you last action.
•The REDO command is used when you want to cancel
the Undo action you made.
12. Search and replace Text
• 1. Find and replace dialog box windows. From the Home
command tab, click Find in the Find group.
• 2. Select Find tab
• 3. in the Find what text box, type the text or texts to be
searched.
• 4. clicking Find in will show the range where the search is
to be done. Clicking Find next will start the search.
• 5. Click more for more search options. When you wish to
replace text in Replace with. Choose replace to replace
texts one by one, or replace all to make replacements all
the same time.
13. STYLES
•Style is a format enhancing tool that includes font
typeface, font size, effects, colors, and more.
FONT STYLES and Effects
• You can use different styles to emphasize or set off
texts. Font styles include bold, italic and underline.
