RARE Technologies presents their Quantum Biology System (QBS) technology for enhancing biogas production from anaerobic digestion. QBS involves installing a biological reactor to transform solid organic matter to liquid for rapid microbial digestion. Trials show QBS increased biogas yield by 30-100% and eliminated waste. RARE upgraded a 500 kWe anaerobic digestion plant with QBS, increasing core temperature from 20°C to 40°C and allowing processing of new feedstocks. This solved digestate issues and financial payback occurred within 12 months. RARE claims QBS achieves huge increases in biological efficiencies for complete anaerobic digestion.

3. Introduction to RARE…
• RARE is a UK Bio-Technology company that specialises in the operational/financial turnaround
of CHP assets, particularly Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plants.
• The ‘QBS’ technology centres upon installing a biological led reactor/process that will enhance
the gas yield from the feedstock and/or the post digestion digestate.
• This technology enables AD plants to radically change their financial model
• 30%-100% + uplift in addition gas yield is achieved through the application of our technology.

7. QBS…Mobile Containerised Plant (Overview)…
→ Waste material is fed manually into the Feedstock
Receiving Tank (1)
→ Biocomplex additive is dosed automatically (2) into the
waste/feedstock.
→ Waste/feedstock is macerated by the macerator (3) and is
received into Holding Tank (4)
→ Waste/feedstock moves hydraulically into a holding tank
(4) for macerated material.
→ Waste/feedstock is pumped via the NDT (Nano-
Dispersion Tech) pump (5), through NDT nozzle (6)
before entering the BFS (Bio-fusion Reactor) (7)
→ Feed hydraulically into N-SAT (Non-stop Attachment
Transformer) tank (8)
→ Grey water effluent flows out hydraulically (9).
→ Biogas is collected passively via biogas collection piping

8. QBS…500kWe Plant…
• Our intervention:
• technology upgrade & additive
• core temperature with additive alone
increased from 20° C to 40° C
• gas from digestate
• able to process gate fee led feed stocks
• solved digestate storage and transport issues
• huge uplift in biological efficiencies
• financial payback on Capex within 12
months
• ‘state-of-the art’AD Plant:
• limited in its operations as it could only digest purchased feedstocks
• designed to process up to 25,000 tonnes/year of feedstock
• designed to export up to 500kWe from its current gas engine
• underperforming financially
• digester core temperature 20C
10. QBS…500kWe Plant…what’s the data telling us?
…huge uplift in biological efficiencies; allowing for
