The document proposes developing an online professional development incubator for the North Kansas City School District. It would pursue a multifaceted approach to adult learning through immersing educators in digital culture, sharing instructional practices, making professional learning teams more transparent, extending learning from consultants, collaborating on curriculum, and providing opportunities for coaching. The incubator would be hosted on a Ning platform to foster collaboration and help educators work beyond physical constraints of time and place.
The document outlines the mission, vision, goals and programs of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. The NSTP aims to develop a reserve corps of community leaders through civic welfare training, literacy training, and ROTC programs. It seeks to instill patriotism and values while linking students to community organizations. The university will offer comprehensive lessons across all NSTP components and train qualified instructors to produce service-oriented graduates.
The Coatesville Youth Initiative (CYI) aims to enhance the skills of youth in the Coatesville area through collaboration between community stakeholders. Its goals are to foster trust and cooperation, increase networking and communication of youth services, increase coordination of youth resources, and build a continuum of youth programs. CYI works to accomplish these goals through various working groups focused on areas like pathways beyond high school, juvenile justice, and out-of-school time activities. It also has a Youth Council to give youth a voice and guide programs to benefit local students.

The Global Virtual Internships (GVI) is a virtual internship program where students work directly with global NGOs. Students gain international experience without the hefty costs of temporary relocation related to study abroad programs. For non-traditional students and those with financial restraints, GVI offers the experience of being part of the global professional community. The GVI experience also offers the opportunity to give back to the global community while gaining specialized experience and school credit. http://www.aselby.com

Nixon University is a vibrant community of learners engaged in an ongoing effort to achieve distinction in the discovery and transmission of knowledge.
This document discusses competency-based education and its role in increasing student completion rates. It argues that competency-based models focus on what students learn rather than how long they spend in the classroom. Students can earn credits by demonstrating their mastery of skills. The document outlines how competency-based strategies can help more students complete their education through options like online learning, credit for prior experience, and accelerated learning. It also discusses the process institutions must follow to implement competency-based programs and earn federal financial aid eligibility. Overall, the document promotes competency-based education as an effective way to increase student completion and better serve nontraditional students like adult learners.
The document discusses the importance of schools establishing linkages and networks with various organizations for mutual benefit. It defines linkages as loose relationships that intend to serve both sides' needs, while networks involve stronger commitments between partners pursuing common goals. Schools can form international, national, and local linkages and networks to increase visibility, facilitate knowledge sharing, and access additional resources and funding. Examples provided include partnerships with honor societies, training centers, foundations, government agencies, and media organizations to enhance teachers' skills and better serve students.

Infographic Basics for eXtension Evaluation Community of PracticeSarah Baughman
This document discusses using infographics and data visualization in extension program evaluation. It provides examples of how annual reports and program outputs can be visually summarized. A variety of free online tools are presented for creating infographics from Excel data or for visualizing social media activity. Key considerations for effective data visualization include the audience, evaluation purpose, design biases, readability, interactivity, and social sharing potential. Resources for learning more about data visualization best practices are also provided.
Using a Developmental Approach to Evaluating Innovative Extension ProgramsSarah Baughman
This document discusses using a developmental approach to evaluate innovative extension programs. A developmental approach involves ongoing adaptation of an intervention based on emerging outcomes and involves flexible evaluation methods. It discusses two extension programs, the Grape CoP and Network Literacy CoP, that used this approach. For both programs, leaders wanted a flexible evaluation process that allowed outcomes to emerge and change over time. The evaluators worked closely with program leaders, using informal reporting and conversations to provide continuous feedback and help programs adapt. This developmental approach helped programs address challenges and work towards broader impacts and system changes.
Using Online Focus Groups to Inform Staff and Professional DevelopmentSarah Baughman
This document discusses using online focus groups to inform staff and professional development for Cooperative Extension Services (CES). It conducted focus groups with administrators, state specialists, local educators, and support staff from 13 institutions to gather feedback on eXtension in three broad categories. Questions were asked verbally and through chat pods. Lessons learned included the importance of preparation and extra moderators. The focus groups provided an effective and inexpensive way to gather input from various locations that could also be used for staff development and research.
This document discusses various formats for reporting the results of a Community of Practice (CoP) evaluation, including standard reports, case studies, success stories, impact statements, and infographics. It notes that standard reports should link collected data to goals and outcomes, and discuss results and any demonstrated changes. Impact statements should address relevance, response and results. Examples of actual CoP reports and additional resources on infographics are provided, with the goal of helping choose effective reporting formats to communicate evaluation findings.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
