Metamorphic facies are groups of metamorphic rocks characterized by distinct mineral groups originating under specific pressure and temperature conditions. There are three main series: 1) high temperature and low pressure facies found in volcanic arcs and continental collisions, starting from zeolite facies and progressing through amphibolite and granulite facies. 2) high pressure and low temperature facies in subduction zones, starting from zeolite through blueschist and eclogite facies. 3) medium pressure and temperature facies during natural rock burial, beginning with zeolite and progressing through amphibolite or eclogite depending on composition.
